"Our music videos are an amplification of our live shows, where the audience has been removed and put on the inside of the screen"

This is 1988, not 1986. Great interview though!

    Linnell looks extremely uncomfortable.

Linnell often did. He never was the interview type of in the first place, and for a long time they were treated poorly in interviews. They were called weird, geeks, nerds, and outcasts, and it never sat well with Linnell. Flans was better at taking it in stride and to this day he's the one that talks the most in interviews.

mkay you can call me crazy if you want but I think that he might (and thats a big might. I'm no professional) be on the autism spectrum. I'm not saying that based off of this video alone, I've seen so many tmbg interviews and he really does show a lot of autistic (and heck even adhd) traits
Here he really looks like he's trying to mask...looking at the interviewer as much as possible, randomly smiling/giggling, and while its mostly cut off in the video at the end you can see that he's fidgeting (stimming?) with his hands. He does the eye contact thing and the smiling thing in a way that feels forced, probably making him uncomfortable (he probably already WAS uncomfortable to begin with)
thats probably why he looks/is acting so off, but this is all speculation so i might be stupid!!!! But I really do doubt John's neurotypical. He's very very stimmy, visibly awkward in a lot of earlier interviews, I believe he once mentioned in an interview that he doesn't listen to music with headphones because "they make his ears angry", he infodumps in interviews (specifically some of the kmsu interviews), and heck he's even described himself/things he does as autistic..........and a lot of other stuff but my hand hurt bye

this video lives rent free in my head...i love them and they had such a great interaction with the interviewer, Lisa Hart. she didn't even ask any weird and uncomfortable personal questions
