Arkansas recruited just fine when they were in the Southwest Conference and forced to compete against EIGHT other teams within the state of Texas in the same conference for top players. Arkansas knows how to play this game better than you think. What you are not taking into consideration is that since Texas and OU just killed the Big 12, it greatly diminshed the prestige and recruiting power of the remaining eight teams in that conference. Basically, the demise of the Big 12 killed off Arkansas' competition for good players who might otherwise have gone to programs like TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, and OSU. Texas and OU in the SEC hurts Texas A&M a lot more than it does Arkansas. I think you are overblowing this.
@@caseyfile I'm more concerned about how the NIL is going affect recruiting than I am about competition from OU and Texas. Will the top players ONLY want to attend the schools with the best brands so they can earn the most money? However, even in that case, being in the best football conference in the country should theoretically still help Arkansas when competing against the OSUs and Baylors of the world for recruits. Arkansas sometimes has to use more of a "Moneyball" approach when recruiting anyway.
@@randyjones3050 Well Arkansas does have Walmart and Tyson food as it’s headquarters in Northwest Arkansas. They can afford the players when it comes to NIL..😉
@@lecurymccray5804 Yeah, I've thought about that. That would be 'very Arkansas' to have Tyson chicken logos connected to players names. LOL! Bud Walton did pay for the basketball arena named after him a number of years ago, so there are fans in the family. However, there are other good sized companies in Arkansas that might step up to the plate as well. One of the unique things about the Razorbacks is that they have an entire state behind them unlike most other university teams. It is not a large state, but it still an entire state unified around a single team.
@@randyjones3050 Oklahoma State is actually in a FAR better position without OU and Texas. You may not have known or had forgotten that the late T. Originally the Big 12 was the Big 8. So most of the teams that are leaving the big 12 were from the swc that the big 12 acquired. Other than Oklahoma Nebraska and Missouri from the old big 8 would be in the SEC.
@@manifesteddestiny. Exactly. If you dont have OU and UT. It's over. The payout for the next TV contract would be around 10 million. They would make more money leaving the conference. The AAC would go from 7 million a team to almost 20 million a team just adding 2 or 3 of them.
I have mixed feelings about it. Oklahoma would no longer be the top dog of a conference, so I feel like many high star recruits would be less interested in committing to OU for that fact alone. SEC already has more high tier programs than any other conference... why stuff 2 more into the conference? That's just silly.
It's for money. The longhorn network is a bit of a flop. The SEC TV deal is supposed to start in 2024 and be 3 billion. If the SEC lands Texas and Oklahoma that number will be renegotiated. Disney is completely on board. The numbers thrown around are closer to 8 billion. That would put each school at or around 72 million each. All included that could push many of these schools over the 100 million mark. The Big 12 currently pays around 34-37 million per school. And hell, it will be fun.
To much money in play for this not to happen. Plus the gambling community knows this will bring in more money as well. College football has been in the decline. I think these two teams switching to SEC will put more interest in college football in the long run. The fans don't matter...money does.
As a A&M fan I want Texas to join the SEC so we can run the score up on them every year but I’m just saying if auburn and Alabama go to the East I feel bad for vandy
Yes, Norman, Oklahoma and Austin, Texas in a (South)(Eastern) conference, doesn't make sense geography wise but hey go get beat by 30 by Alabama and Georgia idrc
Despite the quality of the programs that the SEC is looking at here, 16 teams might be a logistical problem. 2 divisions of 8 teams and 9 conference games to go around could make things a bit awkward. If they can have 4 divisions of 4 teams each and have a semifinal round previous to the conference championship game, that would be just fine. But if they try to do this with the same setup as the WAC when they tried the 16 team setup, it actually may not go as well as they hope for. Also Texas and Oklahoma may not have as much success as they would hope for in this conference. We will see how it goes though.
I can't wait to see the look on Texas and Oklahoma's face when they barely win 3 or 4 conference games EVERY year after having to get their ass kicked by Bama,LSU, Georgia, Florida, etc...like rest of us in the SEC...lol
It'll be funny to see how many UT and OK fans suddenly go from calling the SEC "overrated" and "trash" to rightly acknowledging that it's the GOAT conference! Every good team in the country simultaneously hates the SEC and wishes they were in the SEC.
NO you are wrong! All the players won’t be going to TCU Baylor and Texas Tech. They will want to play in the SEC. It will help Arkansas. When Arkansas left the SWC it recruiting base went down for a long time. In the end its all about the coach and recruiter coaching staff. It looks like Arkansas has a good coach they just hire a year ago.
This is a big stepping stone to the big 5 conferences coming together to make they own league eventually. I think this will help recruiting for mid tier teams because it will force kids to get in the league by any means necessary. Now the teams that don’t have enough money to get in will suffer badly. The low income teams who depend on tv deals and stadium draws will loose out on all that because the newly formed league will take everything.
I love all the people arguing over who's gonna win the most games... like bro texas should have been in the sec from the get go. Oklahoma is just a plus. Is it gonna change the sec much? Probably not at first.
Oklahoma has more national titles and Victories over Texas throughout history, yet they are the plus? Lol talented players from the state of Texas would rather play for the Sooners than the shorthorns... the roster says it all.
For travel Reasons only W. Virginia should leave the Big 12 or Little 12, 10, 8. Either join the ACC or the Big 10. Though in the Big 10 they have Penn State as a Rival in the ACC Syracuse, Pit, plus more.
If they place Oklahoma and Texas in the SEC West and move Alabama and Auburn to the SEC East, that will be terrible news for Florida, Georgia and Missouri.
Not to mention that Alabama will lose the rivalry with LSU. Instead of them playing every year, they would play once every six to seven years in a rotating crossover schedule. Florida and LSU they would not get rid of that rivalry because Florida had LSU first in their cross division rivalry. So Nah brah, I'm good.
@@alexlevingston LSU would take Tennessee’s spot as a cross division rival since Tenn would be in the same division as Bama. They’d still play every year. Edit: Didn’t think about LSU-Florida, but if I’m LSU I think I’d rather ditch that rivalry for playing Bama every year. Money.
When Nebraska and Missouri left they found out they can't win as easily. Watch for the other teams to spill into the big ten I say Iowa state definitely possibly Kansas Kansas state
I would add Iowa State if you can kick out Maryland and Rutgers though Rutgers may turn the program around now that their Coach is back. Maybe West Virginia should join the Big 10 either that the AAC or ACC.

Virginia My proposal is: 4 power conference of 16 teams 4 division per conference Division winners play in conference semifinals and winners advance to conference championship game. Conference champions advance to 4 team playoff.
Bad proposal, why award teams for being conference champ when they in reality are not a top playoff team. In your conference lineups, the SEC could easily have three+ teams better than the Pac12 champ, how could you justify the Pac12 inferior team being in the playoff when clearly better teams stay home?
Good point, I just thought by doing this you could spread out the talent more evenly by giving each conference the same chances of winning. You could also just take each division winner and play a 16 team playoff.
The dominos start to fall. I’m eager to see the next moves. Houston and Cincy to the Big12 maybe? Notre Dame commits to the ACC and they add one? Pac 12 finds 4 teams? Who knows from where - BYU and Kansas maybe? Big Ten grabs Kansas and Iowa State? Who knows.
The PAC 12 should add BYU, Gonzaga (for basketball), Boise State (maybe), AND NOTRE DAME. ND has been hesitant to join the ACC because of past insults. This is why they will NEVER join the Big Ten.

This would be horrible for football. I don't want to see 6 SEC teams in playoffs. Playoffs should focus diversity and conference champions.
No, playoffs isn’t about diversity and conference champs, sure that’s nice but the playoffs are for the 4 best teams in the nation regardless of where ur from.
@@loganslavens6436 That's what CONFERENCE championships are all about. You should play for national championship If you finish 5th in SEC? Unlike March Madness, a smaller school will never get to play!

I'm so sick of the politics of College Football..... I've always loved College ball more than the pros but this is basically killing College Ball. We're going to have a handful of conferences with 16-20 teams and no money..... LOL, this shit is corny af.
I think you are overblowing this.
that actually makes sense, obviously time will tell but I could see Arkansas benefitting from this
@@caseyfile I'm more concerned about how the NIL is going affect recruiting than I am about competition from OU and Texas.
It would be crazy though to have to rely on the goodwill of the Walton and Tyson heirs to encourage Walmart and Tyson to make it rain money on the Razorbacks.
@@manifesteddestiny. Exactly. If you dont have OU and UT. It's over. The payout for the next TV contract would be around 10 million. They would make more money leaving the conference. The AAC would go from 7 million a team to almost 20 million a team just adding 2 or 3 of them.
Those teams outside Kansas basketball and Ok St doesn’t have value like that
The Big 12 will remain as they can add the best MWC and AAC and BYU. This will keep them ahead of the MWC and AAC and inline for a auto bid
@@manifesteddestiny. THANK YOU! Me and my father were having a discussion about this last night.
It's trying to get the playoff started
That's stupid they should have kept ou in the big 12

Whats an AAC?
Despite the quality of the programs that the SEC is looking at here, 16 teams might be a logistical problem. 2 divisions of 8 teams and 9 conference games to go around could make things a bit awkward. If they can have 4 divisions of 4 teams each and have a semifinal round previous to the conference championship game, that would be just fine. But if they try to do this with the same setup as the WAC when they tried the 16 team setup, it actually may not go as well as they hope for.
Also Texas and Oklahoma may not have as much success as they would hope for in this conference. We will see how it goes though.

When Arkansas left the SWC it recruiting base went down for a long time. In the end its all about the coach and recruiter coaching staff. It looks like Arkansas has a good coach they just hire a year ago.
This will be terrible for the economy
This is a big stepping stone to the big 5 conferences coming together to make they own league eventually. I think this will help recruiting for mid tier teams because it will force kids to get in the league by any means necessary. Now the teams that don’t have enough money to get in will suffer badly. The low income teams who depend on tv deals and stadium draws will loose out on all that because the newly formed league will take everything.
I love all the people arguing over who's gonna win the most games... like bro texas should have been in the sec from the get go. Oklahoma is just a plus. Is it gonna change the sec much? Probably not at first.
You got it backwards buddy.. OU has owned Texas for more than a decade. Texas is the plus 1 here
Oklahoma has more national titles and Victories over Texas throughout history, yet they are the plus? Lol talented players from the state of Texas would rather play for the Sooners than the shorthorns... the roster says it all.
Maryland need to go back to the ACC.and some of them Big 12 team want to go to big 10 or Pac-12
Money.

Been saying this for years:
SEC gets: OU & UT
Big 10 gets: K State & Iowa St.
PAC 12 gets: Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, & OK State
ACC gets: Norte Dame & W. Virginia
My proposal is:
4 power conference of 16 teams
4 division per conference
Division winners play in conference semifinals and winners advance to conference championship game.
