@@woodcrest4655 false. Hated that weak ass schedule too. UTM, UAB, Ball State are cupcakes. GT hadn’t really been challenge or decent team since Paul left after 2016. Egregious out of conference schedule. However - that wasn’t their original schedule as the Oklahoma game got removed since they were joining the league. UTM or UAB was last minute replacement for OU. Vandy is Vandy but they do catch 1 SEC team slipping a year.

As a life long SEC fan. I'm excited to have OU and Texas join us because as a conference it's only going to make us and them better! Every time Texas and OU played the SEC no matter who it was it made them play at a whole different level. I'm sorry they honestly had to play down below they're actual level whenever they played Big12 teams. It showed and hurt them whenever it came time to get on the big stage! So I say to they're fans welcome to the SEC and let the fun begin. Because it's going to be an epic ride for all of us.

Paul is right. But it weas more about the $$$ and National Brand Name Recognition A&M was receiving for being in the SEC. The Big 12 is Damaged probably beyond repair. It was Texas that did the damage. It was their Greed and Pride. If they had created a Big 12 Network instead of a Longhorn Network. It would have helped all the teams not just Texas.

Where you get your news from matters. Texas and OU shared profits with the rest of the Big12 for over a decade even though they brought in 75% of the money. Then they get accused of killing the conference.
Texas AD DeLoss Dodds tried to start a Big12 network and only Kansas (probably for basketball reasons) was willing to pony up the money. Next he tried to start a Texas College Network and in the middle of those negotiations A&M announced that they were leaving to the SEC. So ESPN approached Texas with a deal and they took it.
Texas kept the communist Big12 alive with welfare for a decade. A conference that has 50 million fewer fans in its geographic footprint than the next smallest power5 conference. Texas was the only thing keeping them on life support

@flyingeagle8231 Only to have Lincoln Riley's USC get a horrible wake up call going into the Big 10, where a high flying offense led by a generational talented quarterback, is not going to get them to the top of the division, against teams like Ohio State or Michigan that are no slouches on defense. Which Riley did not invest in when he was at Oklahoma and now here at USC, the defense got worse every year. If Riley actually tries to get solid defensive players to give the Trojans a good defense against Big 10 teams maybe they have a shot at the Big 10. I do not see it happening. Oklahoma was going nowhere with Riley as head coach, sure heisman here and there with Baker and Kyler, but it gotten us nowhere near a natty against teams like Georgia or Alabama. Oklahoma is defensive minded now to where they could probably hold their own against said programs and possibly come out on top. Ultimately I think Riley is going to still try play hero ball offense in a conference that will stop that shit from the snap.

You had 12 years alone in the SEC to do something, anything, and y'all still didn't do shit, just like you didn't do shit in the B12. atm fans never seem to get the football fans, and just fans in general are laughing at you with the way you are and are so desperate to be relevant. I can always count on atm to do something stupid for the entertainment of others to enjoy. Like hiring a assistant to the assistant to the assistant baseball coach with no proven winning history as a head coach, to be their new "guy", because everyone else of importance for coaching told atm NO, we don't want to coach at your stupid university, and embarrassing fanbase and traditions. Texas basically stole your wife, and said you won't do shit about it and like it😂

Texas makes it to the playoff one year and somehow OU is playing second fiddle?? Oklahoma doesn’t understand the culture? I get it we got throttled by Alabama and LSU without having a defense in 2018 and 2019 but we also went into double overtime with Georgia.. beat Alabama three times out of last four throttled Auburn ..beat Tennessee twice and are one and one with Florida. We Aldi owned Missouri and Texas A&M when they were in our conference and they are no better or worse in the SEC than they were in the Big 12. And despite TX sucking for much of that time and being "dominated" by OU..TX has a natty, a trip to the natty and a trip to the CFP. OU has 4 trips to the CFP where they were dismantled all 4 times. I assume this is why everyone is "concerned" with OU. In recent history they have been good but only in the Big12 and only while TX was mostly bad. As a TX fan I actually don't agree with the "noise" that OU will struggle in the SEC. I think OU will by fine. Maybe not from the start (we shall see) but eventually they will be fine.
It's true that OU/TX will have tougher schedules now but it's also true that other SEC teams now have tougher schedules because of OU/TX. Not going to speak for OU on this but it's also true that TX has historically been a better team in bigger games. It's usually the games they *should* win where they fall off so it might actually end up being beneficial to TX having a harder schedule with bigger named opponents.
BTW, since 1995 OU is winning the series 18-11 which I wouldn't call "dominating" considering how bad TX was since 2010. Clearly winning but not dominating. No more than the overall record of 63-51-5 means TX is "dominating" OU. Clearly winning but not dominating. TX vs. TAMU being 76-37-5...now *that* is dominating.

Finebaum is clueless. The PAC 12 slant had to do with a Gov who was an Aggie, control of the BOR that was not friendly to Texas athletics and a President who couldn't care less about athletics but was highly motivated by the academics. That produced a series of ADs and coaches that were not adequate semi-intentionally. It took a few years, by the incumbent rules once the Gov changed to a flagship fan, to get a Gov, BOR, and AD truly aligned and viewing the athletics, ...all the athletics, ...as an advertising business to be developed, especially in light of NIL, House v NCAA, AND Title IX. The fact that Texas has the perspicuity to realized the value in pursuing the Directors Cup will pay dividends in the future. It's way more than football.

Unpopular opinion among my fellow former students. You’d be stupid not to add Texas and Oklahoma to the conference. Financially it makes sense. However, there are no Kansas, Baylor or TCU (recently) on the schedule. In this conference there are no style points. A win is a win. The talent on their interior lines, the team speed, quality coaching of great players who’ve benefitted from years of great high school coaching. When A&M joined the league I was shocked when I saw Florida’s players getting off the bus-and we had Johnny Football. They looked like an NFL team getting off the bus. Texas will learn that any team can beat you top-to-bottom of the conference. Teams like Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, LSU and right now Ole Miss are loaded with NFL talent coached by phenomenal coaches. I think Coach Sark of Texas has done a fantastic job recruiting SEC level players. Oklahoma is always Oklahoma a tru blue blood. Arkansas has a real football dude as coach and his players will run through walls for him. Yes, even when you beat the Vanderbilts of the SEC they make you look bad and shaky. I for one welcome the rivalry but there will be some adjustments.

Due to financial reasons, and based off the sports progressiveness and future, it was a necessary and inevitable change....just as other the other P12 teams joined the B10. Same thing with TX, the reason for the hype is because they have coaches that actually develop all of that talent they get. They almost made it to the NC, have most of their roster back, tore it up on the portal and y'all have to worry about Manning starting next season. That name alone is bringing in the recruits. OU's schedule is tough but they'll be back in the top half soon enough. I got them beating Bama in Norman.
