    Hey guys, nice video. And useful! Just wondering, the thinner framing wood you've used, where's that from and, is it treated?

    Hey guys, can I ask - as we are stuck at this point. Cladding above your sliding door, what did you use to secure it? The metal there is thin and even a tiny screw would go threw it. Any help would be great! :)

      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah no worries. Bit confused which part you mean, as in on the ceiling? Our last length of ceiling cladding still attaches to the wooden slats we attached to the metal cross beams. We don’t have a piece on the wall there as we’ve got a sort of curtain guard thingy we built. Let me know if that doesn’t answer your question though and feel free to send an email or message on Insta if you need to send pics to demonstrate what you mean 😀 We also redid part of the ceiling recently so have a more up to date vid which might show it in better detail?

    Hi guys, the knotting solution is normally only used when you are painting wood as it stops the resin bleeding through the paint. When you are just varnishing you don't need knotting solution. Anyway I love your videos, would love to see you guys on our journey when we eventually get going. Take care xx

      Aha, well that explains a lot! We did wonder if that was the case but thought because it was supposed to be clear it may work. That would’ve great to meet up when you’re done 😀 How are the electrics coming along? Have you started them as yet?

      @@TheWholeWorldorNothing I haven't yet, I have the conduit but am unsure about where to start really. My husband is in hospital today getting a tumour removed from his neck so I have been a bit distracted. I want to do as much as I can as a surprise when he comes home. Can't wait for next weeks video, take care xx

    Hello, I really love your videos. You have inspired me to try to build my van. Could you please tell me what size are the wood battens you have use in the walls and ceiling before cladding? Does it have any special treatment? Many thanks. Jose

    How far apart are your wooden strips that you are fastening your clips to? 24”?

    Hi you two, looking good I’m just about at that stage although I think I’m going to use PVC cladding rather than timber, do you think that’s wise or would you advise sticking to timber ?

    • @TheWholeWorldorNothing
      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s definitely some benefits to it - the pvc cladding is far lighter for a start! And there’s no reason it won’t work well. We used wood mainly because we like the look, but also put pvc in our bathroom and we love it. Either can do the job and look fantastic so it’s a personal choice for you really! But having worked with both we’d probably say that timber was easier to install and more forgiving with the curves and weird angles of the van.

      If you don’t mind my two cents worth. Wood cladding increases the R value slightly but adds weight. You should look at how much weight your wood total would adds and if you’re getting up there I’d use the PVC. Cheers from Canader eh!

    Did you use 8mm cladding?, it looks very good I would be very pleased with that result.

    • @TheWholeWorldorNothing
      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you 😊 It’s 5mm cladding we used, we wanted to keep the weight down as much as possible 👍

    Nice job...question:? Why didn’t u paint/ varnished them in situ?

    • @TheWholeWorldorNothing
      @TheWholeWorldorNothing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The reason we didn't paint it in situ is because it's wood it naturally expands and contracts which means you can sometimes see slightly more of the tongue than at other times and you can clearly see which bit has been painted and which hasn't. It's definitely quicker to do in situ but doesn't necessarily produce the best finish in our opinion.

      @@TheWholeWorldorNothing I know this video was a while ago, but i have been searching for the answer to my question of how to avoid the unpainted tongue of wood showing when the wood contracts and expands. The answer is obvious when shown, thank you ❤
