Father, Bless. Thank you for this very informative, orthodox video on the truly heretical gnostic schools of thought about our God and Savior Christ. The only other material I could find on youtube on this topic was not particularly orthodox. The verses from Holy Scripture for comparison were also particularly helpful.

Wow, Looks like someone missed the love story of Sophia and Jesus. Thomas. That Marry Magdolin came from a rich family. And more than likely financed the travels of Jesus. Not only do Christian Gnostics believe in the Holy Trinity. But add the Mother, Daughter, and holy spirit. Lucifer is cast as a god. Not an archon. That turned against Sophia. Another God. But a lesser god than the Almighty himself. The true beliefs of Cristian Gnostics give back the feminine their stature. The true suffers from the world. Not the Jewish as the bible would have you believe. We believe that the Roman General and Pagan Priest that arranged the Bible/New Testament deliberately left all this out. And worked side by side with Lucifer to hide away the rights of women. According to the Gnostic writings. Sophia created the earth. Not Lucifer or demonic powers. Demonic powers were like the afterbirth after creation. We believe that Jesus died on the cross. But gives the equation or key to the reunion of the one thing Jesus could not have here. A wife or twin flame. I find all the reason in the world to understand why even in revelations of the bible that the church and government shall be judged. It is the end you seek when he has promised a new beginning for all. Sophia and Jesus are coming to restore humanity. As humanity is restored in them. Through their relationship reunited.
Thomas writings are equivalent to Johns. The only phrase that John didn't carry was that man could talk to god directly. If that would have been Thomas instead. The church would have had no reason to teach. All finance for them would have been lost. Give me a break. Say it right or don't say it at all.
One last thing. Yes, we believe there are gods among us that are being woken up. To help restore humanity. Angels are messengers. Direct servants. They have no sexual parts. Whoever started that one told a lie.

I would respectfully disagree about the "selfless" church fathers who fought against the heresies by basically stamping down on the Gnostic writings of anything they disagreed with. As more of those Gnostic writings come to light (Gospel of Thomas especially) there seems to be little difference except they didn't champion those books. Yes, others like Gospel of Mary or Philip preached some very different thoughts and Judas was was outside the realm, but I've found stuff in those books that we can learn from. Denouncing a book because it isn't official canon is missing some words that can give us better ideas and meanings. At least in my opinion.

Rejection of Gnosticism was not based on a book or two but rather its entire ideology which was a mixture of multiple faiths and books. There were even gnostics who disagreed with each other as to which book among them was accepted or rejected. After all gnosticism was not even a monotheistic faith, but a smorgasbord of ideas and rejection of even the physical existence of the Lord Christ, who was born, became flesh, was crucified and died and was resurrection. This rejection of this central notion is enough to deem all books of Gnosticism and their authors as heretics, having in mind that the Church had the final authority to decide the books that represented the Apostolic truth, and not the teachings of a certain Marcion, Vasilides or Valentinus.

But does that make the rejection of those book "right"? A few guys with their own agendas made those decisions. Had others been involved, the books considered heresies could very well be considered Gospels. Why do we consider those men to be the ones who have been divinely inspired to make the proper choices? Why not some of the Gnostic books the preach some more esoteric ideas and thoughts. In other words, just because Constantine (or whoever) put them in charge doesn't make them right.
Now mind you, I do agree that some of those Gnostic books are pretty "out there". But I'm one who believes there are things that can be learned from other books outside the accepted canon. In fact, I think in this day and age its almost impossible not to.
Regardless--thanks for responding. Its nice to have real discourse on here. Not just someone swearing and saying I'm an idiot.

Well, the Church or as a matter of fact the Sanhedrin in the case of the Jews rejected more books than the Church fathers. Mind you that the Christianity of the second and third centuries were not as in the world that we live in right now. No, I disagree ragarding your comments about the Gospels. The canonical gospels were recognized and read in the churches since the beginning , especially in the Eastern parts of the Empire even though they weren't yet deemed "canonical" gospels as we call them today. If in fact we have anything to thank Marcion for, it would be that his actions prompted the recognition of the Gospels by Polycarp, Justin Martyr, Tatian, Ireneaus, Origen and later of course St. Athanasius to recognize the books that showed true orthodoxy and distinguished it from heresies that came out from every corner.
I do respect your right in your views, but its is more of a modern 'Jesus Seminarian", or 'Ehrmanian' view in the hope to discredit Orthodoxy. Even they know that some of their rhethoric is speculations, vs. what Orthodoxy has through history.
I responded for the sake of making my stance clear, but I do not have neither the time or mood to enter into arguments. Since in the modern world every one is free to follow their philosophies or even create their own religions.. unfortunately.

Actually, this video obviously has it backwards. Jesus could not have paid for our sins if he was God because God cannot die, making the cross of no effect.
The Trinity's entrance into Christianity is found in the gnostic gospel of Thomas, verse 30.
The Roman god-man Apollyon was substitute for Jesus who came in the flesh - saying that God came in the flesh instead.
The Trinitarian Gnostics were the many antichrists that the apostle John warned us about but the pagans refused to abandon their pantheon of their triune gods.

If God is all-powerful, how could he NOT send his son, who he lives in, to die and be resurrected? He can do all things.

Christ’s humanity was killed. Not his divinity. This was a trick on the powers of death.
Death and Hades could not contain that which the Blessed Virgin birthed. After millions of years of receiving the dead, Hades had to give its dead up. The cosmological philosophical repercussions are insane to think about.
