    “This is Tokyo, once a city of 6 million people. What has happen here was caused by a force which, up until a few days ago was entirely beyond the scope of mans imagination. Tokyo - a smoldering memorial to the unknown… an unknown which, at this very moment, still prevails… and could at any time lash out with terrible destruction… anywhere else in the world. There were once many people here who could have told of what they saw. Now there are only a few.”
    -Steve Martin 1956

      As a lifelong G-Fan, it really does make me happy to see other fans finally respect the American version of this film. Because everyone else on the internet (at least from what I have seen and heard so far) absolutely LOATHS the American version of this film for no other reason than the original is better. But just because the original is the nest does NOT mean that this version is deserving of so much hatred. And the true irony of it all is that all of the American-hating Godzilla fans, wouldn't even be Godzilla fans if it wasn't for the very film that they tear apart. I mean seriously, without this film, Godzilla would have just stayed in Japan and the rest of the world may not have even heard of Godzilla. Bear that in mind next time someone tries to tell everyone how horrible this film is.
      Bottom line; it's NOT terrible, at all! While, yes, the original is definitely the best Godzilla film ever made, that does NOT mean that this version of that film is bad in any way, shape, or form.

    Despite the bad reviews Gojira (Godzilla) got in Japan, you can't deny, the film has some damn good music

    • @jimhuffman9434
      @jimhuffman9434 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @Sean Peabody Initially, most people in Japan saw Gojira as exploiting the destruction that the Japanese suffered in WW2. But Japanese opinion changed when the positive reviews came in from the USA.
      Americans saw the movie not as exploiting the damage Japan suffered in WW2. Rather people in the US saw the film as a warning of the dangers of nuclear weapons testing

    • @olii921
      @olii921 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      The film wasn’t criticized, as Japan did find it as just an exploit of the bombings, they did find the impact of the movie’s metaphor healing

    I've always wished they would remake this 1954 version as a period piece but super graphic and show keloid scars and very gore effects of godzilla killing people and godzilla be disfigured and look horrifying like shin godzilla but tone down a bit power wise
    And the music of godzilla in toyko bay would be perfect music to show the horror and gore of his destructions bodies defying and blood splattered remains everywhere

    • @alabamafreak
      @alabamafreak 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I feel like the writing could either make or break a project like that. At best, it could be a pretty interesting horror version of the original. At worst, it would just be a tasteless, gratuitous gore fest.
