I found out that my ancestor, Samuel Aborn(e) testified on behalf of Rebecca Nurse! While I will be staying in Alabama, I did visit Vermont, Upstate New York and Mass ten years ago. I hoped to make it back to Maine but Covid intervened. Love your home, it is so cozy and welcoming. I just subscribed!!

Welcome - I am a NH native and currently own a 1790 Federal home here in NH. I love my Federal and it fits the NH lifestyle as it replaced the English Georgian style as the new Country was developing its own style - one that was more simple, practical and demonstrated the Yankee mentality. At that time they would also look more to France than England for style ideas.

I love your kitchen…and your windows are open! I’ve long since given up on that here in the Siuth (north Georgia). The high today is expected to be 102 with 97% humidity 😰 Love the copper hood, the greenery over the door (laundry room?), and the ceiling. I have that same ceiling 😊

Enjoyed. I found you thru Linda. Would you be willing to share how your expenses compare to those in Michigan when you lived here? Taxes, groceries, heat, electric, gas, RE taxes etc.
A little tough to compare because we moved 4yrs ago. It also depends on where in MI you live. I will say there’s a large savings in Auto Insurance. We also don’t pay Income Tax, my Husband is still working. Have a great week!

My grandfather had an old house from the early 1800s and he had the narrow stair treads too. They must have had tiny feet then. Is that your only staircase?🇺🇲⛵️
Lol, I understand what you are saying, but no. Unfortunately due to a (much needed) wall there is no way to change the slope. My Husband was able to add 1” to the tread which did help a bit. Part of the charm of an old house. 😊

Enjoyed. I found you thru Linda. Would you be willing to share how your expenses compare to those in Michigan when you lived here? Taxes, groceries, heat, electric, gas, RE taxes etc.
A little tough to compare because we moved 4yrs ago. It also depends on where in MI you live. I will say there’s a large savings in Auto Insurance. We also don’t pay Income Tax, my Husband is still working. Have a great week!

My grandfather had an old house from the early 1800s and he had the narrow stair treads too. They must have had tiny feet then. Is that your only staircase?🇺🇲⛵️
No, we have Captain’s Stairs in the front hallway which are even more tricky! As my Daughter says, it’s part of the charm! 😁

Are you sure the step stringers aren't upside down? The steps are higher than the part you step on and it should be the other way around.
Lol, I understand what you are saying, but no. Unfortunately due to a (much needed) wall there is no way to change the slope. My Husband was able to add 1” to the tread which did help a bit. Part of the charm of an old house. 😊
What kind shelves are above the washer dryer, please?
I purchased those at a Yard Sale in VT, they’re porcelain. I love them because they fit perfectly above my washer and dryer. 😊
