I have this exact amp that I would NEVER sell for anything close to $1550. But...I bought my 66' Deluxe Reverb in 1982 for...(wait for it)...$50. They guy thought he had blown it up (speaker was blown and one bad tube...that was it) and he wanted a Marshall.

I am no expert on the vintage market, but that seems like a great value! Almost a fixer-upper price, especially if it was all original. I have been repairing amps since 1985 and those are the one to own if you can only have one. If you like, you can let me know the transformer codes and I can tell you if those are original to the amp.

I had a BF Deluxe Reverb 65 and it's sweet spot was about the same as yours (around 4ish) one of the best amps I've ever owned for sure. Have a 69 SF Vibrolux Reverb now which I run through a 2 x 12' Marshal cab with the original Celestion 65W speakers rather than swap out the original amp speakers (10" Oxfords ) It's a cool set up as you get no speaker break up, just the amp break up being faithfully reproduced.Your amp sounds killer and at that price an absolute steal!! Great work ...... Enjoy 🎸😍

Yeah man, sounds amazing at that 3.5 reverb level, clean. I'm sure that's where you were headed with this one. It pushes really hard too so if you are looking to rock with some real force I think it has everything you'd need. It definitely has that sort of thick, bluesy, 70s rock tone in there when it starts to break up. Love it.

Yep. We all been there, done that. Beautiful little amp. Sounds super. I have a 1977 in a Fender-style MojoTone cabinet. Had the OT changed to a blackface and this amp sound fab. Had the GAS early enough that I only paid $850 for it, IIRC. Boy. SO glad I did. You might onsider a Weber Alnico 12A150 in that guy ...

After 30 years playing guitar, I bought the Deluxe Reverb 65 Blackface Reissue. It is everything I wanted it to be. Perfect for club gigs or at home. Really hits the sweet spot. If there is a problem, I’ll hand-wire it when repairing it and then it will be “vintage”, but electronic principles (impedance and voltage) did not change since the 60s. An ohm is an ohm. Technology has improved our lives in many areas - now the components don’t fail as easily if you don’t buy cheap parts. Curious if others feel differently and why. You could also put in failing resistors to match a resistor that has 3/4 of its “life” gone.

How loud is it where you found that nice crunch tone, did it blow your eardrums sitting next to it? I can’t decide to go with the real thing or to get a Tone Master with a built in attenuator since I don’t gig and only play at home. Obviously Tone Master will not beat the original valve version, but sometimes you need to compromise to keep the family happy 😊

Best amp for most people. Prices on blackfaces have always trended double the silverface models. Lots of great info out there. Bought my 76 SFDR for $250 in 1993. Blackfaced it a few years later and reconed the speaker. Sold every other amp I had including many other Fenders and a mark 1 Boogie. The Deluxe Reverbs earned their status. Enjoy and keep it serviced.

@@SummitGuitarSchool Also I guess we need to take into consideration that bare thumb finger picking is also quite soft and gives a rounder sound (if that makes sense). If it doesn't bother you I wouldn't even change a speaker unless you record a lot and it causes a mix issue.
Retro amps have got to have that low-fi vibe to replicate analogue 4 and 8 track recordings 😎👌
Either way, you definitely didn't get ripped off. I'd love to have the cash for one, but I think I'll maybe do a 40th birthday present to myself... 2 years to go 😁

I bought my '72 DR for $700 and my '69 PR for $600.... The early years of the SF models are the best buy amps because they didn't mess with the tone circuits much as they did with the larger amps and the SF DR's and PR's pretty much sound like the BF counterparts .

I just bought a PRISTINE '67 deluxe reverb off facebook marketplace in the Atlanta area. It's in similar shape as yours, and I paid over $3k for it. My gut tells me these amps are gonna be worth a ridiculous amount here in the next 10 or so years. They may even get into the Dumble territory. These amps obviously sound insane, but the historical value of these amps are what really sets them apart. I'm glad Fender decided to make all these reissues, it makes the originals worth a lot more lol. Dude I 1000% get the "I HAVE TO HAVE IT" feelings haha

@@SummitGuitarSchool Yeah, I still have it. I've had it re-tubed twice. I blew the original speaker about 1982 or so, and replaced it with one out of a 65. I was stupid and threw the original out. Who knew this stuff would be worth so much? About 10 or 12 years ago, I had a 3 prong plug installed, and the "death cap" removed. I don't know if that affects the value or not. I don't play much anymore, but I still use it.
