Thanks! I am excited to see what one will do with a fresh engine.

Hi, I have a 73, 154 that I mow 4 acres weekly. But after 51 years, I think a rebuild might do it good. Are you planning any upgrades, like milling the head, or intake/exhaust port work? I'm interested to watch the progress. Thanks

Greetings! I don't plan to do much. Rings and bearings, probably. My head is new so it should be good there. I would like to do a basic home valve lapping if they pass inspection. Check cam specs. That's about it. This is my third IH engine rebuild, and I have found that typically, they don't need much. IH knew how to build stuff to last.

I haven't seen much on Cub Lo Boy engine videos, seems to be a simple design....

I will have the engine tear down video up shortly. I will greatly a good look at the internals, but yep, fairly simple design.

I used to think I wanted a Cub Lowboy, then I got one! WHAT A pile of JUNK! International should be ashamed to have their name on this thing! This thing is slopped together with no sign of any engineering intelligence whatsoever!~ The ONLY good part of it was the engine and tires. The rest of it is a JOKE. It's almost inside out and backwards. There is a weak little 3/4 inch shaft with a 5/16 bolt through it that drives the clutch disc, (Inside out) The "flywheel" is also bolted to the input shaft on the trans with another 5/16 bolt through the shaft, just like the shaft that drives the disc! The transmission is from a Cub Cadet lawn mower made with tin shift levers. More JUNK! I invested a couple hundred bucks into a new clutch and other parts to make it usable, then found someone who also didn't realize how cheap these things are! I'll stick with my Power King and Airens tractors. They are both MUCH better engineered machines than the IH Cub Lowboy. A REAL Farmall Cub is the way to go!

I have seen that come up a few times about the 5/16th bolt for the shafts. That bolt is actually only supposed to squeeze that piece around the splines. It should take no twisting force if properly installed. I haven't found much on this thing that seems light duty. It's 1600lbs and a garden tractor. Way over built in my opinion. I will agree with you though that design could have been better. Way underpowered for such a heavy but small tractor. These are pretty much just a toy for a diehard IH person. No resale value, don't fix them up to sell them. I do appreciate your thoughts and watching my video!

😂😂 Holy smokes, how do you really feel about the cub lowboy? I never cared for them much either, love my 49 cub though.

@@trshman4630 The real Farmall Cub was a GREAT little tractor, And so was the Farmall Cub Lowboy, I had assumed the IH Cubs would be the same kind of quality, The one I had was nothing but a huge disappointment! I just missed a Farmall for salew a few days ago!
