Good stuff! Seems like that steering box bracket may have been an issue on those? Otherwise it's kinda odd to have two lo boys and both have been welded there.
I have heard of frame cracks on these in that area but nothing about the steering boxes. Maybe that was what they meant. I'm with you, clearly seems to be a stress point that fatigue gets to over time.

Those would have been an awesome machine if the rear ends were a little beefier
Not sure if I will ever come close to putting much load on this one, feels good to have a spare though.

At just over 1600 pounds they max mine out too. I was lucky to have access to bigger one when I had to retrieve these.
Cut the steering wheel off with a sawall to were you can cut it with a grinder cutting wheel
I hated to have to do it but that's what it came down to.
