Thanks for the review...just ordered one. Stock seat is so uncomfortable after only 30-40 miles for me. I didn't really want to spend that much, but I'm not gonna deal with the staple issue like you mentioned for the foam kit.

The Sargeant seat looks quite similar to Seat Concepts. I think the real difference would be price and from what I've heard it could be a little firm. However, it's all personal opinion and I haven't seen a Sargeant one in person to compare it. How do you like it?
Do you recommend the gripper top seat version ... as otherwise it might be too slick in the carbon fiber top and sides version?? Does the carbon fiber seem more durable than the gripper material so you'd expect a full carbon fiber version to last longer? Does the gripper material seem much less waterproof. Not sure of which 3 versions of Seat Concepts seat to go with. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
I would definitely get the gripper top. It does not sacrifice durability. The gripper top is still a rubber-like material, so it maintains its water repellent qualities. The gripper helps out a lot on non-leather material pants. With leather, it is a little slippery, but the carbon fiber is even more slippery! I don't really slide on top of the seat with leather pants, just my legs on the side with the carbon sides. With other pant materials, the gripper top is wonderful
It certainly is! When I ride my friends' stock KLX's, I notice the seat right away. I can hardly stand the stock seat. I ride for hours on the Seat Concept.
Hey another question I had for you is about the speedometer. I've been doing some reading and some folks are saying that it's off by 10%, is this true? So for example would 55mph indicated on the speedometer be 50 actual ground speed? If so is there an easy fix for this?
It is off by about 10%, yes. The KLX250 has a speedohealer available for it. Not sure about the KLX230. Slightly taller tires could help. However, it would probably just be easier and cheaper to do some quick math in the head and/or get used to what the speedo reads and know what speed you are actually doing.
You'd think that manufacturers would put more effort into it lol. I do not see one listed for the KLX230 yet. I'm sure they will make one but haven't seen any seats for it yet

Seat Concepts said they add about an inch of foam for the Tall seat. That seems about right. They also have a low seat which would still give you extra width on the seat. However, even with the stock seat, I would always find myself on one foot at stoplights because it feels more comfortable, just personal opinion though.
I have a KDX snorkel, which takes up the whole cutout in the airbox lid. Some people have removed the lid without tuning it and report good results. However, I thought mine ran lean from the factory. I would recommend a fuel controller anyways to take full advantage of the extra air, if you can get one.
@@brettjones2714 Oh okay, my bad. A rejet would help out a bunch then with the carbed model. I'm not sure how lean the carbed bikes are, if stock. I do know that they respond quite well to some mods and it's easier to tune than FI at times
im not sure the value i put one on a dr 650 my ass still got sore it just took a lil longer and when off roading you need to transfer your weight so the grippy cover only hinder that yer ?
I can still get sore after long hours, but for that matter I can get sore from sitting on a couch all day lol. I don't find the gripper top to be a hindrance. I often find it annoying getting on a stock seat because they are more slippery, actually.
They are Kawell under bar / bar end mirrors. The link I had for them broke, but most 7/8" bar end mirrors should work. I just clamped them onto the handlebars

Tell me about it lol, too many people with their head in the clouds when driving. The cops around here don't care too much about the off the road shenanigans. They would pull you over for speeding, but that's why I go across the border for them haha

Very good seat, very similar to the seat I have. I have the sargent seat.. However I do like the looks of the tall narrow more stock seats better.

Have you removed the snorkel? Sounds like it, I would like to do so but worried about running too lean??

The Seat Concepts is about 9 inches wide at it's widest point and one inch taller than the stock seat. Are there any other measurements you need?
