Hi Jimmy, generally with the Blaupunkt head units using the 3.5mm jack input, no loops need to be cut. If steering controls are not working be sure to program them via the settings menu of the headunit.
Hi, is APP9PIO8 compatible with Pioneer DMH-A4450BT headunit ? Or do I need to buy universal Steering Wheel Control Patch Lead APUNIPL2 and APP8PIO8 harness. Thank you
Hi, the Pioneer DMH-A4450BT requires the use of an APP8PIO8 along with an APUNIPL2 universal patch lead as the steering wheel control hook up is done via a 3 wire connection rather than Pioneer's usual 3.5mm jack connection. So unfortunately with this model the APP9PIO8 will not suit 100%.
hi , i bought used Blaupunkt bo800plau unit for mazda3 and i have swc with 3.5mm jack but on Blaupunkt unit there no harness where i can connect the 3.5 jack for steering. im missing the harness like comes from unit to connect the jack so do u think i still can find a way to connect my steering fuction to unit any help to attach that 3.5 jack to bp800play
Hi, according to the Blaupunkt BP800PLAY manual, the connection diagram on page 14 indicates there should be a 3.5mm jack input for a steering control interface on a separate harness. If you do not have this harness you will need to source one from a Blaupunkt dealer as a spare part as your steering controls can not be retained without it.
How do I know whether to cut the appropriate wires and use key 1 or not cut wires and use the key1/2 and gnd? What’s the difference? I’ve got a Kenwood stereo, trying to connect to a VW Golf. Help!
I am hoping that my ATOTO P6 finally works with this added, i have the correct steering wheel unit and an iso plug from the head unit to the chc harness; would not having this patch lead plugged in prevent the unit from not turning on? thanks
@@aerpro thank you for the quick reply. I actually am picking up the patch lead today as I've had teething problems getting the head unit to power up, but I am hoping that it all works after getting this patch lead
Hi, unfortunately we have not had much experience with the Mongoose head units. The patch lead we would recommend to use would be the universal APUNIPL2. In terms of how to configure it, you may need to contact Mongoose for specifications on how their steering wheel input is configured.
I just installed the Mongoose Q7CA headunit into my 2014 i30 GD today and here's what I discovered after chatting to aerpro and mongoose technicians. On the patch lead there are 3 wires labelled GND, Key 1 and Key 2. Since the Q7CA doesn't have a 3.5mm remote input it requires the patch lead to be hardwired directly to the headunit harness. On the headunit harness there's 3 wires labelled GND, Key 1and Key 2 and these need to be soldered directly to the patch lead or you can use bullet connecters but I prefer soldering so it's a more secure connection and less likely to come loose with vibrations. I was recommended to use a multimeter to test the voltage coming through the key 1 and key 2 wires to make sure power was coming through properly into the Aerpro SWC module, initially I don't think voltage was coming through properly so I re-did my connections and it worked. Remap the keys from the headunit and hey presto it worked. Hopefully this helps out others with this specific headunit.
This is the only video on the Internet which helped me out!!!

Hi Kurt, if you are using the universal patch lead and it is configured correctly, it would not cause the unit to not turn on.

Ihave a pioneer to put in a 2011 VW Tiguan and i am wondering where the key 1 &2 and the gnd go?
Hi Carrieann, when installing a Pioneer stereo the key 1, key 2 and GND wires do not need to be used only the 3.5mm jack needs to be connected.
@Aerpro im still not getting sterring wheel controls. I have unplugged it plugged it all back in 🤨
@@carrieannFryett have you also enabled the steering control function in the settings menu of the Pioneer stereo?
Thanks. This helped!
