You usually replace both diodes. I've done a bunch of repairs like these on tool battery chargers. However, I usually put in the physically biggest diode I can find. For something like this, I'd put in a TO-220 or even TO-243, just so that they have a bigger heatsinking surface. Those tend to be dual diodes and I just connect the two in parallel and make it into a compatible pinout by soldering a 1.5mm2 wire to the back, snipping off the middle pin and connecting the side pins in parallel... As it's the component that heats up the most and often times they are used in the sun, you have to go above and beyond on designs without fans.
It sounds like there is another fault that make the diodes go bad. At the end of the video it looks like you have a lot of broken LED's. That could be the reason those diodes go bad? If you have the backlight set to 100% on an LCD TV with LED's, it will last from 3-5 years, sometimes even less than that.

The problem i find is that you can't buy reliable components anymore.
The claimed ratings and what they are capable of are two different things.

Maybe the diode you changed weeks ago was still ok and the original you left failed as it’s been under stress 😊
