    Looked like fun! Maybe an after market bumper might have fit better and came with the hardware. The OEM came with the Jeep curse. Luckily, Gene is amazing at what he does and has lots of Jeep experience.

    If you do tow. Make sure you know where to put the bulk of the load. Even a small trailer not set up right will scare the shit out of you. ❤

      Did a lot of research on towing but we mainly got it for a hitch bike carrier where we wouldn’t have to sacrifice our departure angles. We hope in the future to get a small teardrop style camper (around 1000lbs).

    Thnx for the video. Next week i’ll do the same to my Compass trailhawk. Did you just change the wireing harness to fit each other ? Or do deeper electriton works there ? 3:19

      Ended up splicing the wires and using a wiring kit from U-Haul. The harness was not “plug and play”.

      Possibly, we were on a time crunch so we just spliced it in. Perhaps you can order it through a dealership or mopar.con.

    Hello good afternoon, what is the technical specification of this towing kit for the Jeep renegade?

    • @joshuawhiteadventurefilms
      @joshuawhiteadventurefilms  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a OEM hitch that was retrofitted on a trim level that didn’t include a tow package. The Jeep Renegade is typically rated to tow 2,000lbs with the 2.3L 9 speed automatic. In the US, the 1.4L manual transmission’s are “not recommended for towing”.

    Who makes that model trailer hitch for yor Jeep. My son has a 2021 RENEGADE LATITUDE and he wants to install that type of hitch.

    • @joshuawhiteadventurefilms
      @joshuawhiteadventurefilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t attest to the 2021 model as mine is a 2017, but I purchased an OEM Mopar hitch receiver. All 2017 models are compatible with the OEM hitch receiver offered on other trim levels.

      As of this comment, the kit is $799 on Renegade Ready (link below) If you do it yourself, you save on labor.

    • @joshuawhiteadventurefilms
      @joshuawhiteadventurefilms  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn’t be able to give you an accurate quote from our install because it was my brother that did the job and we used a friends’ shop, so I didn’t pay for labor. Furthermore, we goofed off a lot and didn’t have all the necessary parts at time of install, so calculating an accurate time frame for the install would be difficult. My best guess, I believe it’s a 2-3 hour install and shops charge a labor rate typically between $110-$160 an hour. If you go to the dealership, I have heard they do OEM installs around $1400 with parts and labor, though that price may vary. Good luck!

    • @joshuawhiteadventurefilms
      @joshuawhiteadventurefilms  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I purchased mine from a seller on EBay, but you can buy a complete kit from renegadeready.com. It has everything you need to complete the job, including a cutting template for the bumper (which would have been very useful). I was going to buy the kit, but the hitch receiver was on a 2 month back order and I had a small window while we were in Florida to get it done. Here’s a link to the kit:

      4X4 models can tow up to 2000lbs and FWD models can tow 1500lbs. The manual models are “not recommended for towing” in the US but are in Europe.

      The 5x8 U-Haul trailers hold up to 1800lbs, should be capable in a model equipped with 4x4, but I’m no expert. We put it on for a mainly for a multiple bike hitch, and possibly a small teardrop camper.

    Anybody successful with pulling a 5x8 uhaul trailer with 1 of these? Seems like an asian car sized American priced suv. I've had it a few weeks it's nothing like an actual jeep imo. Terrified to haul at this point 🤷‍♂️

    • @joshuawhiteadventurefilms
      @joshuawhiteadventurefilms  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Jeep Renegade is built on the Fiat 500x drive train, it’s basically a Fiat with Jeep badging. Ours is a 2017 and the sticker on the driver side door panel says “made in Italy”. The Renegade is not a “actual Jeep”, and in my opinion, there have been significant compromises to the brand since Fiat acquired Chrysler in 2014.
      I’m no expert on towing as I mostly use my hitch for a 3 bike carrier but I will provide a link from a Renegade forum pertaining to towing experiences. Here is a statement from the forum:
      Hi everyone, i have a 2018 jeep renegade upland edition 2.4I W 9spd transmission and I towed a 5 x 8 uhaul trailer this past march from upstate New York to central Florida.
      No issues to report other then gas consumption, which was to be expected considering the extra weight. You just have to take your time when towing. Yes, the tow requirements for the renegade is a 2.4 L / 9 speed automatic transmission with a max weight of 2000 lbs. That's for trailer/cargo/ and anything inside the jeep as well. Good luck and happy trails”

      I apologize that you were unable to find value in this video. On my channel I capture experiences in my life that I find value in. This video was intended to share the process of a hitch install while I was spending time with family in Florida, and was not intended to be a step by step guide. There are many videos and guides here on TH-cam that detail the process far better than I did. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I hope you find what you are looking for and wish you the best of luck.
