100 stars for this kit! I just installed this at a leisurely pace over 3 days. This kit from RR makes the install so easy to do and if you take it slow, it isn't stressful. They give you detailed instructions and everything you need. I did have to drill some extra room on some of the holes to make it fit my car exactly, but that makes sense since each year has slight differences. The advice line they give you access to was very helpful for a non-mechanic like me. My greatest anxiety was about cutting the bumper because you get one chance to make it look perfect. I measured many times and really thought about what I was doiing before proceeding. The provided template was perfect. The wiring kit was also so easy to install. It has a relay that saves you so much time and work.
Hands down the best trailer hitch they make for the renegade. I agree, the instructions were super detailed that anyone could really do it. I also got nervous about cutting the bumper, but it all turned out good
I just got a 22’ reny and your are the first youtuber I found in regards to mod. I subscribed right away. I am returning my hitch that I just purchased and going with this route. I might hit you up if I have a question during my install process.😅
Thanks brother! By the way, those side rail holes (3 on each sides) where you removed the grommets to mount the hitch bumper, are those holes threaded?
No, they are not. They are meant to be there for when you install the hitch, you will put the bolts on the outside, and then it will thread into the hitch
Question on the wiring kit..did you run a long wire to the main battery?my wiring kit seems different than what RR sent me. It was a curt brand wiring harness
Have a 2016 Anniversary Edition. The instructions for the retrofit "what they call the Clean install" of the wiring that uses the factory connector, doesn't match the colors or number of wires on my 2016. The instructions call for 4 wires on the OEM connector and mine has 8 wires and none of the colors match. Has anyone ran across this and have a solution? Thanks.
The template gets destroyed when you cut. You could take it to a copy shop and get an oversized paper copy before using it. I wouldn’t want a copy of it because the piece you finally attach to the bumper is a very tight fit.
I bought one of the hitches from U-Haul and was super annoyed when I found out this existed. The U-Haul ones that sit under the car smack the ground all the time. It's terrible. Planning to replace with this - sucks to be out the $450 plus the cost of this more expensive one but ultimately worth it. Anyone else reading this, trust me - get THIS ONE, not one that goes under the Jeep.
I'm looking at doing this on my 22TH, but the wiring is what scares me. Dealer wanted over $2200 to add an in bumper hitch to mine (since it didn't come from the factory with this option) $800 is worth it to keep the ground clearance.
It definitely takes some time if you do it on your own. Yes, hands down the best hitch you can add to your renegade. You lose a lot of ground clearance with the other ones
I just finished the RR trailer hitch kit on my 2019 TH. It was so easy to do and the wiring was simple. It has a module that is simple to install and passes the tailight signals to your trailer automatically, without having to think about it, its so easy!
I have asked renegade ready to send me a copy of the install instructions so I can send it to my mechanic to get an estimate on the install. They said they are unable to send me and since I do not have. garage, have no way of knowing how much it will cost to install it. Them telling me a flat fee of $150 per hour is not good enough cause if it comes to 4 hours that it becomes not cost effective for just a hitch. Is there a way you can send me a copy of the install instructions.

Great video man, been on the fence about buying this for my Trailhawk AND after watching this I'll be placing my order.

@@randya8856I was also wondering this same question. This guy has been great for renegade research!
You have me convinced I can do this
Good job bro the best video on this yet
I'm glad you did this. Want one like the oem, but the cost is holding me back. Like you I will give in and spend the money. Great vid.
Thanks buddy! You definitely want to take your time with it. It'll be well worth it though!
Great video, man! Thanks for the insight.
Awesome, this video is just what I was looking for. I just recently bought a used 4x4 sport manual transmission and I'm excited to mod it out !
No washers for the bumper?
Where can I buy the new part with the hole to fit the hitch?
Do you have the link of every single part that i need to do this installation?
Maybe it's a topic of another video but can you tell what tires do you have?

George looks good do you still have the direction and the schematic for the cut out?
I do not but if you look up this trailer hitch/ bumper you can download the instructions with all the details.

I can maybe see those working if your Renegade is super lifted, even then it won't look to appealing.
Yeah! The ones that go under the bumper are ridiculously low. This is costly and time consuming but definitely the way to go.
Agreed!
Do you still have the instructions?

Worth the price I believe.
