    You are the only video I could find that shows the wash plate splines. All the other videos pass over after they remove this and never reference it. Thanks for confirming where the issue may be for this. I need a washplate.

    What? 5 minutes of blank video for you to find the tools, then no video on how you used the hooks. Please redo.

      Exactly. Still don't know how to get a fused wash plate off. But I had a seizure from the camera work. Would donate to shoe fund anyway.

    Your video was very helpful to me to making a grinding sound and wash plate is spinning very freely and makes the same noise like yours but now I know what the problem is. Thank you for your help. Awesome video.👍

    Thanks for making the video. I have a similar issue except the bolt just keeps spinning with the plate below even when I hold the drum any ideas?

    My agitator stopped working on same model so I started with the wash plate which ended up being ok, your video helped me with removing my old one but I ended up damaging it , so I got a new one and replaced it in its entirety.. however my agitator still won’t spin , could it be the belt that needs changing or does the agitator work independently from the drum ?

      If it’s not your wash plate, check your transmission shaft. The transmission shaft could be worn out causing the wash plate to not grip to the transmission, if that’s the case, you will have to replace the transmission. Hope this helps in your situation

      @@littygangster1885 I forgot to mention I did change both the wash plate and the part that is attached to the shaft that the wash plate attaches to . Which is why I am asking if it could be the capacitor.

      If you have changed the transmission and/or the wash plate, check the Lid Switch/Lock, actuator, and the motor. Or check the tub of obstruction. I recommend testing the parts with a multi meter. If the parts show good, you can also try recalibrating the washer

    I have replaced the agitator part 3 years ago, and I have to again now in 2023. I have a whirlpool and I’m trying to figure out how to keep it from stripping the metal out of the agitator. My wife and I discovered we would have been better off with an actual agitator and not the impeller type, we need that more aggressive agitator for our work and day to day clothes.

      Lighter loads will extend the life of the splines. Also, if you don’t inspect the splines on the agitation motor and they’re worn out also (which most likely they are) then it’s going to be a whacky fit with the new wash plate and decrease the life therefore causing you to replace the parts sooner.

      @@kristopheryoung9503 splines on the motor driveshaft also are worn on mine.

      @@jamilcheng I tried explaining that to my wife before she had a quote from a Sears rep. He quoted over $800 to fix it. The washer originally cost us around $600 brand new. I bought an LG that has the agitator like the old school washers we grew up with and we absolutely love it! Once we bought the new one, I stripped the old one down and low and behold, we would’ve had to replace the motor which was not in the quote because the splines were shot on the motor. LG has a much better line of washers and dryers which are much easier to fix and don’t have the cheap splines like the whirlpool brand.

  • @phildaddy1975
    @phildaddy1975 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it possible it is the capacitor? The spin cycle works but the agitator is not working, the videos I watched showed that might be the issue.. thanks again

    All that you need to do is in the center where you took screw out. Get a set of plyers and pull up. The part where the 3 ridges meet in the middle.

    Use a vise grip on one side and a 45 degree pick on the other side and it will lift out with a little pull if you have one that is sticking

    Mine was loose and spinning. The splines were rusty. Why wouldn't Kenmore make it from stainless steel if it's under water all the time? Splines were all chewed up from spinning so loose and from rust. Was staining my clothes. I fixed it once thanks to this video, but it rusted and came loose again few yrs later.
