As far as the lack of diversity goes, yeah Asheville isn't NYC, but it's also not the usual Hee Haw po-dunk convention out there like many other southern towns. The freak flag is alive and well and that's what made me fall in love with Asheville in addition to the nature all around and the music scene. A big improvement over my native Fayetteville NC. I love your channel. I'm now a subscriber.

Oh yes, October is the WORST for traffic because all the tourists and visitors come to see the leaves change. I avoid Parkway at all costs. And construction on I-26 is going to be bad until it’s going to create a better pathway
Great video! The only thing I am concerned with is the amount of development that is going on in this town. Seems like it is taking away the eclectic feel and beauty that Asheville is known for. Luckily, they can't develop every sq inch. Our terrain doesn't allow or makes is hard and expensive to build. So, that forces people to spread out and not be as on top of each other as in some other places.

A car 100%. I mean if you live right next to downtown or in THE west Asheville and your job is super close, within walking distance or you can bike to, but still... There seems to be a shortage of uber and lyft drivers too. It was back in the spring time, when I went out with someone in Hendersonville, thinking I'll just get uber back home, and there was no one available! So, I wouldn't rely on them. It's not like NYC where you can rely on public transport or cabs. Better have a car.
Add some sidewalk, add some public parks, adds big box stores, add a mall, add some diversity, and you will no longer have a wonderful city. Trust me I've lived all over the USA and I know what I'm talking about.
I live in the Asheville area, moved here 22 years ago. For the past 2-3 years we've been getting inundated with folks moving here from NYC, LA, Florida etc. They are mainly increasing and "fancyfying" housing to the standards of where they left. Especially the values which are now so high that regular working folks, think grocery clerks, restaurant servers, hotel staff etc cannot afford to live here without working 2 or 3 jobs. The funky, small town vibe is definitely leaving quickly. Parking and traffic are getting ridiculous and very frustrating. Come and visit please but DO NOT MOVE HERE!
For the population, there is actually a LOT of traffic. This is mainly due to the influx of people moving in and especially the tourists. Every other license plate you see in the road is out of state. Asheville and WNC has went to hell in a handbasket! Just a few shirt years ago it was nice and tolerable There is also a big homeless population which is sad but also a big burden in the city. Today, Asheville is trashy, druggie and crime laden. People are destroying the beautiful mountains.
Well...the police seem to think it's okay to flip over and destroy property at a medical station sanctioned by the city. I'd say Asheville should be avoided until those issues are resolved.
@@margauxv25 gotcha. Fletcher Park is a great place to bring kids for a walk, bike rides, picnic, splash in the river in summer. they have baseball games and lacrosse there too. X10 for lack of diversity. Strange town, they don’t like outsiders very much. I worked their for three years...commuting up from Asheville. I miss Asheville sometimes, cannot say the same for Burnsville.
Asheville is okay but I think I'll stick to bigger cities. Many people there when I go there kept looking at me and my kiddo like we were strange. Lol go to San Diego, Orange county, Olympia Washington, and LA never had that "look". Lived in Waynesville for a year for a job and the experience was hit or miss with people. I saw some blatant racist people mocking Hispanic that could not speak English well or even this lady accusing my 4 year old daughter then from stealing a candy in front of everyone to shame a kid! ( what she didn't expect was a brown man that could speak English and was willing to fight back against blatant racist targeting) but of course there was many kind folks too that made it feel less of a culture shock. One thing I couldn't stand when my kiddo was in kindergarten, the kids actually said that they would get kidnapped because she was brown! Racism is taught not born with. I even had this encounter where this cashier told me if I spoke English. So many times I was passed over for a job promotion because the person had family or because they were " local". It's not the best environment to move up in the world, I'm sure Asheville would be better but the main reason I'm heading back go the west coast is the culture is much better for my kiddo in the long run. I wanted to experience that rural life but man was it very an unpleasant experience because my color had a play into factors that should not been based on an individuals capabilities.
The mall? I think Asheville mall is the least of anyone's worries, but I could be wrong. Haven't personally felt the difference, but I'm sure other people have.

Asheville used to be nice. Not so much, these days.

do you need a car to get around the city or do you have uber/car service ?
This video definitely will help people who consider moving to Asheville
That is the goal!
It's not accurate, she's painting a false picture... "Fake news"
Thank you, my dear. Your videos are wonderful. Very helpful 💗
You are very welcome!
Add some sidewalk, add some public parks, adds big box stores, add a mall, add some diversity, and you will no longer have a wonderful city. Trust me I've lived all over the USA and I know what I'm talking about.
I trust you
I live in the Asheville area, moved here 22 years ago.
Made me smile. I wouldn't say Biltmore Estates is "Nothing to see though." Have a wonderful weekend. :)
You too, thanks for “stopping by”!
Biltmore is great and I'm from AVL :)
So i chose a daycare based on skin color because i dont want my children to judge people on the color of their skin.

If she was basing it on skin she would say she was looking for only black or white. She said diverse. Gosh

I'm so sorry you had a bad experience here
So you say everybody is very polite and kind. And then complain about the way people look ? Shame on you 👎
