The Missouri drivers use blinkers. It’s the fools from Johnson County, KS that don’t. We can tell when someone works over the county line in Johnson County. None of them use blinkers, and God forbid we use a blinker. They will cut us off every time. You have to use the element of surprise to change lanes lol.
Was 2 blocks from this. It was crazy with the rapid fire. The first couple shots hit our attention and decided to start ducking low. The rapid firing started and we layed flat like paper.

I worked KCPD just after this happened, he actually did a class in the academy on combat breathing. (he didn't teach the class but made an appearance) and he even said that the only reason he was able to calm down was because that SGT told him to breath and thats why you can drastically hear his demeanor and the way he calls out the pursuit change.

That was just metro and center zone officers, along with specialty units like the TAC squad, in the chase. KCMO has 4 other zones full of officers that could have responded to whatever else was happening in other areas.

most patrol vehicles during this time are equipped with long guns, when the chase ends you can see 2 officers with long guns get out. The problem with shooting at a moving vehicle or shooting from a moving vehicle is; its hard to get accurate and predictable shots, its too much of a threat to the public to just throw more lead at the problem.. now would have I shot back? Yes, if I was receiving that much fire, I would have popped my rifle up and thrown enough back to keep them from returning fire. Its case by case and in this one, I think it would have been fine. Another thing is, officer competency with those long guns, they aren't given a whole lot of range time with long guns and unless they themselves take courses, its unlikely their dept. is providing the necessary training to keep them confident in their skills.
I was on a ride along with the Kansas highway PAtrol just a few miles away from this location off the KAnsas/Missouri border. Heard it over the radio and we semi responded lol as they were headed toward West toward Kansas. Most exhilarating experience i've ever had... There was even a military helicopter in the area that got involved too.... i applied to be a police officer the next day

they should give officers powerful rifles, so they can just stop and take some long shots on the vehicles they are chasing. maybe equipped the rifles with scopes...
most patrol vehicles during this time are equipped with long guns, when the chase ends you can see 2 officers with long guns get out. The problem with shooting at a moving vehicle or shooting from a moving vehicle is; its hard to get accurate and predictable shots, its too much of a threat to the public to just throw more lead at the problem.. now would have I shot back? Yes, if I was receiving that much fire, I would have popped my rifle up and thrown enough back to keep them from returning fire. Its case by case and in this one, I think it would have been fine. Another thing is, officer competency with those long guns, they aren't given a whole lot of range time with long guns and unless they themselves take courses, its unlikely their dept. is providing the necessary training to keep them confident in their skills.
I was on a ride along with the Kansas highway PAtrol just a few miles away from this location off the KAnsas/Missouri border. Heard it over the radio and we semi responded lol as they were headed toward West toward Kansas. Most exhilarating experience i've ever had... There was even a military helicopter in the area that got involved too.... i applied to be a police officer the next day
