    This should be right after 7:48 and/or right after 9:54 :
    But be careful which VPN you use because while the a hacker can't decrypt that intercepted signal, the VPN you chose doesn't need to. You're giving them permission to see everything you do online in exchange for anonymity with everyone else. There are a lot of unscrupulous VPNs out there so choose wisely.

    I legit thought this video was going to be about someone building a literal WiFi mousetrap just from seeing the thumbnail and not reading the title of the video. I literally didn’t get it wasn’t going to be that until like 8 min into the video. I feel so dumb right now.. lol

    How can you connect to a VPN before you connect to the internet in the first place? I'd have to connect to the public wifi first before connecting to a VPN, so some data will be shared.

    • @mhzprayer

      I think because you can install an app for the vpn that you choose. I assume after that your outbound traffic goes thru that connection. But I haven't tried it so i dont know the details.

    Since 2018, all sites are required to be encrypted as standard, so WiFi spoofing from back in 2016 no longer works and your data is safe. See Tom Scott's video on why you don't need a VPN: th-cam.com/video/WVDQEoe6ZWY/w-d-xo.html

  • @DragoNate
    @DragoNate 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay, I'm sorry, but if you are away from your home & you see your home network show up as a WiFi & you trust it, I'm gonna find it VERY difficult to have any sympathy for you... Once you've gone past the end of the road of your house, your home network should no longer show up (obviously some "end of the road"s are closer than others, calm down) so if you see that at your local McDonalds or anywhere else that is further than next door or at best 5 doors down, you should be very terrified. Also, if you keep your phone connected to your home network all the time like I tend to do, then you leave your house, go somewhere, and find that you're no longer connected to your home network, yet you see it listed, and you decide to "reconnect" then...idk what to tell you.

    Set your home networks to never auto reconnect. Spend two seconds connecting on your wifi when you get home.
    I know most of you have either default or really idiotic meme ssids and it's not that hard to watch someone leave their house, get their ssid, and track them around their entire life by providing an access point their phone thinks is at home.

    • @mhzprayer
      @mhzprayer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it really just the ssid needed for that? That's all a computer uses to recognize a network for autoconnect is the name?

    • @jeffbrownstain
      @jeffbrownstain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mhzprayer It's possible some devices might also save the mac address of the target access point, but I've never even heard of that.
      As far as I'm aware, your device is constantly screaming out into the world 'Hey are you SSID name? No what about other SSID name? Okay how about the next guy??' Until it finds a name it recognizes. That's how the autoreconnect feature works, and also why its best practice to turn off wifi when you arent using it, because it still makes beaconed requests.

    • @jeffbrownstain
      @jeffbrownstain 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mhzprayer th-cam.com/video/XaKJt6tSd6E/w-d-xo.html

    • @mhzprayer
      @mhzprayer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its interesting video but it doesnt show a reconnection attack, just a manual switch from the victim to ssid of same name. It would be interesting to know what is stored for auto recognition.

    • @jeffbrownstain
      @jeffbrownstain 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mhzprayer It is literally the exact same thing 🤦‍♀️. Take out the deauth, what was it trying to do? Reconnect to an SSID of the exact same name. The only reason the deauth is needed is to prevent the stronger signal strength of the original router. What happens when that original router is no longer there? Rub two braincells together and you will have your answer, because I already told it to you.

Just making people scared without teaching them the important security stuff. And please provide details around how TLS is vulnerable. That would be breaking world news... Sounds like you are selling a VPN...
