      I totally agree. No offense, but I forgot about Bradley until he popped up halfway through. I enjoy both of them very much. Even though Bradley looks like the ultimate homie.
      I took the OSCP exam and passed last year. So I know quite a bit about cyber security. So I love these types of channels. This one would be more of a Blue Team channel over a Red Team one.

      :3 I'm an ethical hacker, and I know that disabling and deleting a webcam driver is dumb because they're just going to turn it on if they have full access. 💀😅 Plus, mics are usually standard in laptops, with or without webcams.

    Quality episode. It's worth investing in a separate encrypted laptop for confidential work which has literally everything disabled and is *NEVER* connected to the internet... ever! AKA an air-gapped system. It's a pain to transfer data off it using secure USB drives, but generally gets round 99.9% of the security issues.

    • @markm0000
      @markm0000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      That’s good but not perfect. The USB drive can become compromised by malware and spread it to the offline system. I suggest PTP RAT if you want to absolutely make sure there is no way any extra data is sent to the protected system.

    My job spied on me using the webcam in the laptop they issued to me. They allowed me to work from home and I fell asleep for 5 minutes while I was supposed to be working. They saw me sleeping though the web cam and they were not happy. Not to make excuses but I had a lot of medical issues and had just gotten out of the hospital the day before. Also, my sister had just been through her own tramtic experience and I was taking care of her. So I hadn't slept in days, I was still feeling really sick, and I had a lot of stress in my personal life. I shouldn't have been working in the first place. But I didn't want to miss a day of work or let my clients down. So in my effort to do what I thought was the right thing, I ended up getting myself fired. I probably should have gotten a lawyer because I don't think they're allowed to do that. When they called me in to fire me, though, I was so embarrassed and had too much other personal things to worry about that I just got out of there as fast as I could.
    Deleting the drivers will just trigger Windows to detect a new device and automatically reinstall it. You have to make sure to right click it and click disable so that Windows knows not to do that. Even then, Windows seems to have a mind of its own sometimes and it could get re-enabled if you install something, like a messaging app, that might want to use the webcam. So, I guess the only real way to know for sure is to check the device manager every time you use the computer ...or put something over the lens so you know for sure at least that is always blocked.

    A lot of stuff mentioned in this video especially intergrated cameras on laptops, are supposedly used for surveillance on school issued laptop's on students by the school district. I orginally thought that wasn't true untill it happened to me. Instead of keeping the laptops after school like they've used to do, they've started allowing students to take them home and keep them over summer break, even after they got caught.

    Hey welcome to the channel Emily! You were great in your first video and this was a great video too! Bradley, I personally commented on a previous video about Emily having much less screentime than you in that script and I want to say, I hope you didn't take that as a personal dislike for your hosting! I love your delivery, your voice and your knowledgeable presentations. I really hope you will make a video with Emily and talk about the things which women worry about in the Digital Jungle. Things like Stalkers, Doxing, and just protecting their information from people who would use it negatively. Many women make a career out of "modeling" online and that leads to all sorts of potential bad actors attempting to deduce their location from clues they see in their videos. There are tons of scary stories out there and (even though I am a cis gender male) I recognize that women need to be educated about their safety when it comes to posting content online. Thanks for listening to our feedback Bradley but remember we love ya man! Your amazing talents got me to subscribe in the first place!

    You need PFSense firewall, it blocks everything by default. Then segment the network into Vlan's. One for all IoT incl TV, one for personal phones / laptops, one for your Nas, one for work laptops / phones, one for guests (treat as an IoT network) etc. Then whitelist the devices Mac addresses to their specific vlan and black list them on the vlan's they should not connect to. Finally add firewall rules to further prevent devices from communicating inter-vlan.

    can I know how deleting the driver of a webcam and removing it's software can be more secure/reliable(context) than using tape over the camera? the result is the same, no image. the microphone is separated and has nothing to do with the camera driver or tape.

    There are papers that showed how you can read heart rate from the radio signals from the routers. This can potentially be used as a lie detector by someone as your heart rate plays a huge role for a lie detector to work reliably.

    Just wait for 802.11bf, otherwise known as SENS. It is motion sensing using your WiFi, it's coming out with WiFi 6. There's no security for it right now, hopefully they figure something out before travel routers are weaponised spying devices and your neighbor can see you type your password. Yes, it's that accurate.
