I’m 54 and I still collect, play video games.its all good . Great build. Nice way to change it up. Been looking at doing the same
Right on!
I'm 52 and still play with toys. Budget for toys sucks, but making on a budget is fun.
Awesome!!
The most important ingredient, love. Love for the IP, love for creating. We love your passion and your work, thank you for sharing today!
You are so welcome!
Yes! Please… any time you want a simple weekend project, make another one! Make a whole collection to display your fav figures (cause I know you have a ton)
Will do!!
Great job! And don't ever apologize for collecting! I'm 51 years old and you should see my wall of Boba Fett! Which, by the way, I think one will become a diorama thanks to you!
Fantastic!!!
I spent the evening pulling electronics apart greeble hunting while waiting on some paint to dry. With the old DL-44 videos going in the background! I called it a night after watching the Patreon video of the cargo display case. Now I just had my morning coffee with a Hondo diorama video…… great weekend!
You rock John! Thank you so much!!
That really captures Hondo's personality. The only thing I could suggest is if you have a file to print a little mug of something for him to be drinking and holding up in toast.
I love your full scale and miniature builds. I'm endeavoring into a new large prop project, and I expect I'll have this channel on a continuous stream in the background to keep me motivated.
Thank you!!! Yes, he definitely needs a beverage in that hand.
MORE!! I want more!! Thanks!
You got it! Thank you!!
Another awesome project! Checking in a day late this time but as always, a great way of spending my time on a morning coffee break between conference calls. Closing in on 50 this year and my desk has an array of figures and merch all around it, not to mention all the stuff still in storage since I moved to LA six and a half years ago, so who cares about age and toys? 😄
Sweet!!! Love it!!
Wow, man! You don’t cease to amaze me with your skills. The painting and texturing on this project is astounding. I am at a loss for words. When I grow up, I wanna’ be just like you. 😊
Lol, thank you very much. That is so kind of you.!
Brian my friend. You have skills. And sometimes accidents add character and that personal touch. Great job.
Thank you!
Of course you make it look easy
Thanks! I think these sort of builds can be as easy or complicated as you want to make them. You should give it a try.
@@TheSmugglersRoom not sure I know how to do anything the easy way. Challenge accepted
@@brokentuskgarage LOL, I understand that completely
Looks great Brian! I know what you mean about the small projects invigorating you! Thanks for sharing! 😎🇨🇦
You got that right! Thanks for watching!
Awesome work, Brian! Fits totally within the Star Wars design language.
Glad you liked it!
I love watching videos where small random pieces turn into something so cool. (Even with an occasional oopsie! from that darn resin.) Love it!
Thank you! We’ll figure that stuff out one of these days.
@@TheSmugglersRoom The only way to "figure it out" is to do more of them! Can't wait to see those videos! :)
This is the first time you have ever hurt me... THAT'S AN A-A5 SPEEDER TRUCK from Legion! uncontrollable weeping*** LOL gorgeous diorama, man. Keep making something out of models that deserve better lol.
LOL!! No parts are ever safe with me my friend. 🤣
@@TheSmugglersRoom I see that! If you haven’t played Legion, you might enjoy it. It’s a great game. Never been a tabletop guy AT ALL but the models won me over and I am happy to say I was wrong as hell lol. Plus it’s all REAL Star Wars (if you know what I mean) so it’s nice. 😂 Glad you’re back and I hope you and yours are well and getting back to normal in the wake of all that’s happened. Hoping 2023 is a great year for SR and everyone else. Love you guys.
Excellent model build!
Thank you very much!
Thank the Force... I was having a bad evening but seeing you made it all better. Thank you so much, great timing ^-^
Glad we could make it a little better for ya
I just found your channel while searching for Spaceship style playhouse for the kids. I love what I have discovered. Your details look incredible.
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel and the community of Awesome Geeks!
I’d love to see more builds like this!
You got it!
Looks so amazing. Would love to see a Mando one.
Great idea! We’ll put that in the list.
Mistakes are learning opportunities, thanks for sharing them.
Love the result, and you could cover the epoxy edge with a thin brass strip or 3d print a tiered base that still allows you to see the water feature from the top.
As usual, excellent video!
Thank you so much!
Nice use of Star Wars Legion AA-5 and base bits!
Thanks!
I am also in my forties and I also collect the Star Wars Black Series line 😉, they are great figures, I also make dioramas and this idea of making bases for the figures is really cool and inspiring 👏👏
Awesome! So glad i'm not alone!
absolutely love it!! but, Hondo needs a bottle of something in-hand with that pose
Totally! Can’t believe I missed that!🤦♂️
@@TheSmugglersRoom nonono, not a criticism, just home...but yeah, homie needs a drink...😂
Very cool. I really like the intense colors you chose; Star Wars is often a but drab so this was a great choice.
Thank you! Cheers!
Also, what details with this build! Wow!
Thank you
A great small scale terrain display build
Thanks bud!
So glad to see you guys continue to live your life, enjoying your geekness and I'm greatful for you sharing your amazing work!
Thanks so much!
Awesome work there, Brian! My favourite tiny detail are the little pieces of lichen, if you upscaled them to 1:1 you would get some incredible alien bushes!
Maybe you could hide the mistake with the epoxi by painting the perimeter of the base in matt black. It wouldn't be an incredible solution, but you know, not great, not terrible.
And... how about a Bantha Beer decal on that barrel? Hondo must be thirsty after another day of honest work.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Definitely need a Bantha Beer Logo!
Great video as always! I have a small tip for epoxy that I had learned from my mentor. You can use double sided tape and the film that the tape is stuck to will not adhere to the epoxy. Also, you can use the backs of vinyl wraps (the paper backing that the vinyl peels off of) and the epoxy will not stick to it whatsoever! My mentor was searching for methods of having an epoxy sculpt come out of a mold and have no sanding done to mar its glassy finish. Anyway, I hope this helps!
Great tip! Thank you. I will definitely give that a whirl!
Love that! Yes on all the things.
Awesome! Thank you Lisa!
That’s awesome mate. Love the vid 🙂
Thank you my friend. So glad you liked it
This turned out great Brian!! Thanks for another awesome video showing your techniques and inspiring us to be creative!
Thank you my friend. Glad you enjoyed it.
Those epoxy sides can be sanded down and polished up and nobody would ever know. You could also line the sides of the base with a thin piece of painted styrene as trim to coverup defects too. Either way it's a great diorama. I don't know why but I was expecting you to put a tiny Fat Bantha Beer sticker on the barrel. 🤷🏻♂
Thank you! Those are great tips. And yes, I totally failed on the fat Bantha sticker 🤦♂️
Awesome love black series figures great dio
Thank you, I do too!
Awesome build. Always enjoy your videos and content 🙂👍
Awesome, thank you!
Thats a great little diorama 👍
Thank you
Excellent dio, Brian!! You have inspired me to get in the shop and build one this week.
THAT makes it all worth it bro! Thank you!!
Great diorama.. Thank for sharing.. Greetings from Chile.
Thank you very much!
Fantastic build I do love me some dioramas ❤
Thanks bro, me too!!
I love this build! The weathering and different details you put into your projects is always amazing and inspiring! :)
Thank you so much!
Another amazing video! :) I hope you and all of yours are safe and well :) Much love from Slovenia!
Thank you so much!
This is Awesome.
Looks fantastic!
Thank you!
Just amazing result. Was wondering where you were going with the kit bash parts, but as always you didnt disappoint.
Glad you liked it!
Great tutorial thanks! 👋👋👋
Thank you!
Outstanding, once again you did not disappoint with your imagination, and ideas for this build. The attention to detail in making this diorama is over the top and inspirational to those of us who want to try doing some of the techniques you show us in this and other builds! Thank you for sharing we appreciate it very much! Shark!
Thank you very much!
@@TheSmugglersRoom you’re very welcome!
Really nice, motivates me to get in and finish my BBTF wild west diorama lol
ooooh!!! That's great. Love me some BTTF
Looks great!! I am inspired. Thank you, as always
Awesome! Thank you!
Nice project Brian! I do dioramas/scale modeling and wanted to suggest for the ripples on water, a heavy coat of gloss Mod Podge and then using your airbrush short blasts of air make very realistic ripples and it dries clear. Fairly inexpensive too. The airbrush might work on the Liquitex too. Keep up the awesome work.
Thanks for the tip! That’s awesome. Much appreciated
This is an awesome Diorama Brian! I've bought a bunch of the Liquitex Inks but didn't had the time to try them out yet. I think the colours look really brilliant on your Diorama!
They are great paints. And they work so well in the airbrush
@@TheSmugglersRoom this is really good to know. I have also an Airbrush pistol but, yes you guessed it. I didn't had the time to try it out 😅
I love it! How about a "director's comment" version where all the different materials (paints, thinners, other art products) are explained for us muggles?
We could certainly do that. I have well over 30 of these black series figures, so I’ll do another with a bit more step by step for you guys.
@@TheSmugglersRoom That would be cool. What about even smaller like a SW legion size?
Amazing results!!!! ❤
Thank you
@@TheSmugglersRoom you are welcome 😊
Love this! I should try to do a small diorama for a few Black Series. I always have a big project on my work bench, would be nice to have a small weekend project here and there! Thanks for the awesome video and thoughts!
You should 100% give it a try.
Outstanding love the small dio builds just like Hobby Time. Anychance of a airbrush shake down as im just about the splash out on a cheap one and you seem to have mastered the it.
Thank you! Boylie is no doubt a big inspiration, and he’s a pretty awesome dude as well. We need to share a bit on the airbrush. Still very much learning how to use it. But we’ll put something together here for ya soon.
But it was mint in box... This is very cool. I'm always very inspired by what you create from nothing.
🤣🤣 nothing is ever safe in a box around me. LOL
@@TheSmugglersRoom I'm always wanting to buy the extra to open one and save one, but then I just can't bring myself to open that one either. I like to find loose already that someone else has opened. LOL!
JUST completed my Black Series Jawa diorama and starting my Mandalorian Armorer diorama soon!
Awesome!!
Wow I love it veri much
Sweet! Thanks
@@TheSmugglersRoom aver vous vue la lumière de ikea transformer dead moon sa pourrait être un autre projet
I love the diorama! All your builds are inspiring!
Thank you very much!
I really want to do a book nook. You should try one of those.
Here ya go! th-cam.com/video/6eZ5QwMFT-E/w-d-xo.html
Your amazing. Happy new year
Happy new year!!
Good morning Brian !! Fist bumps from Canada, how are you liking the new season of Bad Batch ?
Also from Canada. Also good morning. Also fist bumps 👌
👊 I’ll be totally honest, I haven’t watch it 😮
Nice like it.
Thank you! Cheers!
I love it. I’m collecting some pieces for some diorama building as well. I’m really looking forward to the smaller scale projects.
Question: with the acrylic ink through the airbrush do you have to thin it or add anything or do you just spray as is?
That’s awesome. Hope we can provide a bit of inspiration for your dios. The ink in the airbrush is awesome. No thinning needed, and it works like a dream in the airbrush.
Awesome vide as always! It would be asome if you make a display cabinet for your figures. I have been working on a Star Wars universe display cabinet. I’m using a cabinet from the Swedish furniture company. I would love to see your spin on it!!!
Well, your in luck. You should swing by our Patreon group and you’ll get a great inside look on what we have cooking, specifically a display case 😉
Thanks!
Of course man. Thank you!
That looks great but the green translucent resin base for the platform was just crying out for an LED inside it.
Thanks. Yeah, it’s a cool 3D printed piece, but it was ultimately hidden under the Dio. Still, a little LED love would
Have been good.
Amazing work!! MTFBWY.
Glad you like it!
It is always fun to watch you build something out of nothing, to me it is always amazing to think of how it would look like when you start fitting random stuff together and understand that you see something of an end look. While i just see those parts as it is mend for. And then at the end i final see what you saw at the start of it :D
However there is on part of your vids i really dislike and that is the choose of background music, i would love to hear some star wars (space) themed music instead.
Thanks a bunch. We had fun with this one.
Music is a challenge. We used a lot of different types. Carissa and I like all kinds of these tracks we use. Sorry you don’t enjoy the tunes.
@@TheSmugglersRoom, thanks for your reply, most appreciated. I forgot to reply earlier. Reading back my first post, i like to say that my dislike is not about the choose of type of music and that i do not enjoying the music, but more in contrast of wanted a more star wars (space) themed music.
And watching the video from today, i see you found some that you both loved to use. 🤔🥰
Again Thanks for your weekly updates i always enjoy them.
Absolutely amazing, but the sound of the foam being cut made me mute the video till you were done. haha
LOL!
Awesome follow up to the Jawa mini diorama. I really like these.
We’re those resin prints you used for SW panels?
I just finally bought quite a few firefly figures because I wanted to do something similar. Not sure if I’ll do something like this, the book nook, the pit or the something altogether different. But love the inspiration.
Thanks man. The panels were from a SW Legion model I picked up from a local hobby shop.
Can you add more information (either comment in audio or text overlay) about what materials and tools you use? I'd like to try some of the things you're doing but I am not proficient enough to understand what tools you're using.
We’ll do a more detailed overview on the next one for you. That way you get a look at all that’s involved.
I love it!
Thanks
I was wondering where the video was, I have notifications set to all for your channel but I didn't receive any, just incase it's something on your end, I have no idea how it works
Nope, sorry. Nothing on our end. It’s. TH-cam thing, not sure what that happens
If you want some tips and ideas for small scale stuff, check out Boulder Creek Railroad/Luke Towan.
He does amazing work!!! Excellent suggestion
maybe add a bottle in his right hand and a glass of some kind in his left
Yep, you are totally right.
Looks fantastic but you messed up... now the base is too good for a black series figure. 😆
🤣
Hanndo?? 🤨🤔 isn't he from The Clone wars or am I'm thinking of someone else?🤨🤔
He is from that, but I know his character from Star Wars Rebels.
@@TheSmugglersRoom ok never seen rebels
I'm ten years older than you, and I still play with toys too.
Awesome
Burnt umber? Raw umber? Doesn't anyone around here know how to cook umber? 😆
🤣🤣🤣
Just a heads up, you’ve got a scammer on TH-cam pretending to be you and trying to get people to contact their telegram!
oh no! Seriously? Where did you see that?
@@TheSmugglersRoom Yes, it was in response to my comment in tour last post. Might be good to give followers a heads up. I’ve seen the same type of messages on other crafting channels recently
@@gameyybuilds thanks for the heads up
@@TheSmugglersRoom No problem! Good news is I only see it on the bigger craft channels, so take this as a sign of success! 😆
You put all that work into a base but zero work into Hondo, himself. He looks like an afterthought, not the centerpiece. Just an action figure sitting on a really well done base.
Yep.
