  • The Book of Boba Fett has brought back the iconic Slave 1 Firespray Gun Ship. With it, it also brought back the nostalgia I had as a kid for the toy version of that ship. So today we are going to take part in a Toy Conversion of that cherished childhood collectable.

WOW! Yet ANOTHER GREAT BUILD! I've been a Modeler since I was about six or so. Both my dad and my older brother taught me SO MUCH!
I'm almost 57 now and THIS is going to be my NEXT PROJECT! I bought a Complete "Slave One" at a rummage sale last Summer for $5.00!
But that wasn't the ONLY Star Wars toy I snagged! I also snagged two of the later "X-WINGS" when they made it more accurate for the 3.75" Figs. and a whole BUNCH Of vintage Star Wars figures! I spent about $12.00 and walked away with a HUGE BOX Of stuff!
So this was a definite Inspirational Video!
Thanks. And My the FORCE Be With You! :D

I love the boldness to continue 'playing' with the toys of our childhood by doing what we might have done if we had the bank accounts we have as adults. And the continual pursuit of tearing down cardboard walls. I love the creativity and vision of your projects....and the ability to narrate beyond tutorial style and tap into another level of entertainment

I got a sense of nostalgia watching this video, I actually still have many of my Hasbro star wars figures and vehicles from the 70's and 80's, all of which show wear and tear from the 'battles' of my childhood imagination. You never grow out of it!

Ok, I must say.. this video and its narration felt like it described my feelings to a "T".. reminiscent of James' bench build, this drew on the nostalgia of Star Wars and my childhood that reminds me of the absolute joy this franchise has given me. Thank you for keeping that spirit alive.. When I saw that Slave 1 fire spray model and followed along as you dissected the piece I felt at ease knowing you were the one doing this "re-imagining" of that scale model. It was then that I realized we make our own determinations on what gives anything value in this life, there are no set rules or standards.. Thank you for awakening the creator in us all and being the vehicle that has delivered us there.. In other words good build lol

Great mod! This is the toy we wished Kenner/Hasbro would have given us! I’m currently slowly modding my Big Millenium Falcon. My goal is to put lights in interior and cockpit using fiber optics. I did a wash on it a long time ago but now it’s time to paint the full interior and trick it out.
Your Slave I looks amazing. I’ve used the liquid latex weathering Boba Fett helmet and yes it is expensive. Thanks for the tip on rubber cement! I had forgotten about that stuff. The last time I used it was in elementary school! I can’t wait to see The Pit!

If you use a yellow as primer and then do the chipping it will look like the paint was burned and weathered from blasters and reentry heating. I got that when i went to kennedy space center on one of the shuttles. The paint is ablative and is sacrificed to protect the sheet metal skin. Of course, use pigment and clear matte to add the effect of scorching. You can add iridescent paint to look like heat stress.

This is SO awesome. I found my old one of these recently and moved across the country, couldn't throw it out. Don't have much room now, but I might just have to try the same (it'll never happen tho, so if anyone wants it...)

That came out amazing, I had slave 1 as a kid as well, but have no idea what happened to it (along with all my Kenner SW toys). The thing is, I collect the 1:12th scale figures as an adult but never even considered getting an old school SW ship and modding it like this, such a great idea, and so well done!

I just bought a Jango Fett version off eBay. It’s missing a wing but otherwise decent, really low price. I’m going to do a Former Stormtrooper/ hired gun ship build… some time after the Empire collapsed , maybe he found it in a junk yard some where … a one off rough rebuild of sorts. Your video is really helpful , thanks
