7th, super effort! Mavic crew was awesome. First "easy" climb was soul crushing. I had to stop at the Dutch corner for water and photo of the Chappelle 😅
To prevent dropping chain A) clutch on rear derailleur, B) And better quality chainrings.I do recommend Rotor, they are 11-12 speed gears and extremely precise, (milled from single piece of aluminum) I never dropped chain in since I installed Rotor Cranset (one year now)
So many memories. The balcony route with the views. The shitty tarmac. And the croix de fer coming up. The part through the final village was crazy steep.

I agree with everyone else, great content showcasing the landscape and narration of each day's approach and challenges. Also a quick comment on limiting the fibrous carbs due to water retention. Complex carbs are the ones that hold more water. Concerning higher fiber carbs and the research on why some Pro's are opting to reduce them during multi-day events, is there's evidence it interrupts gastric emptying which in turn inhibits rates of glycogen restoration. It appears the lower the fiber, the quicker and more efficient muscle and liver glycogen gets replenished. But I would say additional research needs to be done. Within the body there is tight regulation of fluid balance and there are additional factors that influence it. Sodium, muscle damage, hormones, external temps also play huge roles in fluid retention/elimination. It's not just one factor or dietary practice.
Another great video Jasper. But have to just comment on the Haute Route organisers. I’ve done 3 HR including Alps in 2022. On this they neutralised just about every descent (many of which were perfectly safe) bar the two most dangerous descents of the entire week, one of which was the drop off the Sarenne. My abiding memory is passing another HR rider laid out at the side of the road who’d stacked it on here. It beggars belief that the organisers didn’t learn from this. Really great seeing your prep, approach to nutrition and recovery - brilliant insight for potential first timers considering signing up.

Ive ridden that descent loads of times. It’s horrific going slow or fast. So may as well send it, but anyone tackling it best not be low on brake pads for the corners. Horrible surface. Great video as always Jasper

great video! in 2022 I had my first taste of Alpe D'Huez - for the Marmotte and Etape...at the end of both long rides in very hot conditions I had to stop several times on the way up, so i'm also hoping to get there fresh one day to ride it 'properly'.

Great to get some insight on your Bike Setup at the Start, but i am really interested how much the bike weighed race ready. The quality and production is again outstanding for the racing you do. I cant wait to do the race on my own some day!

It could be that the volumes are not 100% optimized. I could spend another week doing that…. What helps is watching on high quality speakers or headphones to make it much more clear

I would spend another 2 weeks fine tuning but I had to round this up.. it will depend a lot on what device you watch. High quality headphones or speakers will make a big difference
