How does anyone watch this and then watch Bortles and walk away thinking Bortles is a better player? He can improve his deep ball but I just don't understand the love people have with Bortles. That dude is about as overrated as I've seen for a QB.
youso91 I worry about Manziel's health in the NFL. It's tough to run that much and be that small. I'd take Bridgewater but Manziel has the higher ceiling.
Alex Williams I agree man. Bortles has the body type of an NFL QB but outside of that he looks average at best. As a Vikings fan i want Teddy over Manziel. College wins mean nothing, look at tebow. Manziel throws a side arm, not "over/thru" the target. He can thank a great WR matchup and Oline for a lot of his success imo. He is very athletic but doesn't not use that within the pocket. He is a product of being faster than opponents also, a luxury he won't have in the nfl. The play is often shadowed by the result and the last thing ill say about johnny is if you want to beat him, keep him in the pocket. Make him beat you from there. Ask LSU. In two games that was their plan 5ints 1td.
Alex Williams Regardless Manziel should go to the Texans. They need a QB bad and with Arian Foster and JJ Watt they could have a great "Big 3" leading them back to relevancy. Plus Texas is ripe for the taking; Cowboys officially suck and Manziel is a Texas product. The guy's a baller and the Tebow comparisons are inept because Manziel has a monster arm and showcased that last season if you watched him. He's more like RGIII but with a little more Luck than Tebow in him. Pun not intended.
Kid is REAL DEAL! Reminds me a lot of Aaron Rodgers/Bigger Version of Russell Wilson, quick release with good accuracy but also very underrated athleticism and mobility which people forget about because he don't run much. Hope he goes to a good franchise because I think he is a very special QB who seems to play even better in Big Games.
What I love about Bridgewater....PLAYED HIS BEST when Louisville did play better Competition! I think he is Aaron Rodgers 2.0 and like Aaron Rodgers he could fall in the draft a little for NO REAL REASON but who ever he falls to that team is going to get a STUD and a guy that can come in and help you win right away
I mean if this kid is allowed to square his shoulders and plant his feet by the defense, he's surgical. And I love the way he hot routes his wr's and rb's when he see's zone coverage. I think his biggest problem is press man, with inside blitz's, due to his deep ball being inaccurate.
I hope I am not the only one not going to take his Pro Day seriously. Teddy is and is going to be the best Rookie QB next year. He had a awful Offensive line so which ever team he goes to, mobility wont be a issue for him. Amazing touch on the ball on every kind of throw. Look at the Florida game on his first play, that will validate any argument on his toughness. I cant see the Texans pass on Clowney, so Jags, get to it!
His anticipation and mind for the game reminds me of Matt Ryan. Their arm strength and deep ball accuracy are also similar. In today's NFL where the quick passing game rules (there are few Seattle's out there), I think he will produce right away and have a good career.
His throws are pretty high and he could work on his deep ball. If he puts on 20-30lb, improves his technique, and expands his football IQ. You got yourself a franchise QB. No doubt about it.
I agree with this sentiment, except your questioning of his football intellect. From what I've seen, one of TB's strengths is his pre-snap reads and his ability to manipulate defenders with his eyes and subtle play fakes to open holes in the defense The only thing I'm not in love with is his consistency. It seems like he takes some plays off or relies on his arm talent too much at times. You can see it on some of the deep balls he under-threw in this game up the sideline where he was lazy with his footwork and wasn't able to generate as much power into his throw. I'd still take him as the #1 qb, no doubt. I like Manziel though, can't overlook a player's competitive spirit
I love how the Miami players flex their muscles, do a pose, or beat their chest every time they make a decent tackle. All the while the score keeps ticking higher. Miami - 2 vs Lousville - 16....22....36.... Only at THE U 7th Flo Crew!
I miss Teddy. I hope to see him play some NFL this season. Might be my favorite UofL QB but there are so many it's hard to choose. Maybe Pass can be the next Teddy.
Top QB of the draft. He takes snaps from under center and he actually makes progressions. He is disciplined and consistent. Shouldnt make it passed the Raiders.
Top qb in the draft. Arod arm with wilson like speed. Deep ball needs a little work but you can tell he's a rhythm passer and can streak quick. I want him on the Giants but damn we have other needs
You didn't even see the whole video. Bro didn't even scramble through the majority of the video. Just like thrice. All of his work is done before the snap he is able to audible, read a defense. All things Johnny M can't do.
jin mcclean I was talking in regards to a more diverse playbook and new schemes from DCs in the league. I'm pretty sure his overall football IQ is at the top if not the best in this class.
if he drops down to 24th in the first round, the bengals should certainly look at selecting bridgewater to compete for a spot with Dalton either this season or next, they probably won't but they should
These guys just killed Miami. People hated on the AAC but between L'Ville and UCF they slayed some giants. UF in Sugar, Penn State in happy valley, Miami here (not even close), and Baylor in Fiesta.
Teddy should go to Jacksonville, I am not sure who is on the List after us who needs a QB but I am thinking the Raiders may get Manizel or Bortles. Teddy will be a Jaguar. about dam time we got a QB and a Smart QB too. Teddy is awesome.
And you're telling me you're gonna take Blake Bortles over Bridgewater based on a Pro Day? Give me a break. Teddy doesn't have elite size, speed or arm but he's the best decision maker and best reading Defenses. He's Pro Ready and will not have to take a few years transitioning from a Spread or Option system. The only way I would take a guy from a College Offense over Bridgewater is if he had off the charts physical tools and elite arm strength like Cam or RG3. Bortles and Manziel aren't in that class physically or arm strength wise.
I liken Bridgewater to Matt Ryan in that though he is extremely accurate; he does not have the strongest arm. If you remember when Ryan first got into the NFL, the Falcons used to have to bring in the backup QB when they needed to throw deep passes. But over the years Ryan's arm got stronger. Bridgewater is routinely underthrowing guys on deep passes. Maybe his arm strength will grow as he progresses in his NFL career.
I love how miami got mad when we stole eli rodgers and teddy from them saying we were a weak school (than). well we won the 2013 basketball championship, the Sugar bowl and we whooped em in this bowl. and we atre going to whoop em again in the ACC next year
I like his touch, that comes in handy, but man I see a lot of balls that will be picked off in the NFL, he is going to have to fix that, guys are not that wide open....also, he seems to start scrambling even before the pressure gets there, he needs to stay in longer and just move in the pocket, some guys made some unreal catches too, he needs to keep the ball down a bit high on a lot of throws.
Has great touch and is a top notch passer when it comes to short and intermediate passes. Does a good job of reading defenses and checking down to his second and even third receiver, clearly a student of the game and a an above average game manager. He can make throws on the run on either side of his body. I don't think there are any questions about these parts of his game and this is why he is a top prospect. I think his lack of footwork in the pocket is an issue. He has a poor base and substandard rotation. He throws to much with his arm and this is most likely why he struggles to get accuracy when throwing the ball down-field. His deep ball is highly suspect and lacks both accuracy and placement. It almost looks like he's a completely different QB when making passes 30+ yards. QB's strength can improve in the NFL (i.e Brady, Manning) but this part of his game is what concerns me most. He also has a tendency to step out of and not up into the pocket, not unusual for a young passer, but something he needs to work on at the next level. I think you see the same issues in his pro day, especially regarding the deep ball, and is potentially why his stock is taking a hit. Still one of the top quarterbacks in this draft class, overall B+ draft grade.
Needs to work on deep throws. Texans don't need another shot passing QB. If u notice in this game about 70 percent of his passes were 10 to maybe 15 yards out. I didn't see one passing TD from 50yrds out. It's good to run and scramble but not on every play. I hope texans trade down to Cleveland and get 2 first round picks.
jin mcclean No your wrong man. Most passes in the nfl are 20yrds or more. I can name 2 just off the top of my head. Drew Brees and Peyton Manning 60 percent of their passes are from 20yrds or more. Compare that to Matt Schaub 20percent. Pay attention to this game its not the QB its the wide outs that made the plays. All of his deep balls were way over thrown/ under thrown.
djdvet What the hell...? Drew Brees has an average of 7.9 yards per pass while Manning's average pass per attempt is 8.3 yards for the 2013 season. Where the hell are you getting these numbers? And did you take into account YAC? Brees gets the ball out quickly and identifies mismatches. Manning doesn't throw bombs left and right either. He picks apart a defense by creating mismatches and putting the ball where it needs to be.
Honestly, Bridgewater matches what O'Brien wants in a QB more than Johnny Football. I personally think either one will do fine in Houston with all the talent that offense already has.
Are you guys really impressed by this video? Didn't Andre Ware, David Klinger and about a 100 failed would be NFL quarterbacks since prove that the spread offense does not make an NFL quarterback? He throws a good check down, screen, and up to 10 yards....usually over the middle because that sideline is so far away. He had a couple good downfield passes, many more very bad ones. He appears to have gone to the Vince Young school of passing technique.
In what world is that a spread offense? that statement alone completely negates any football knowledge you think you have, He definetely needs to improve is deep passing but that definetely doesnt mean its a negative for him. Most of his misses were because he overthrew receivers which is a very good thing because it means he is throwing it were only his guy can make a play and its why he only threw 4 picks in the season. Also, you ar just talking about arm talent, he also has unparralledled knowledge of the game, a great attitude and delivers in big games.
After watching film of Bortles and Bridgewater it is no competition. Teddy is better. Like others are saying, I don't understand the hype that Bortles is receiving. Apart from his size and arm, there is nothing special about him. Bridgewater and Manziel are better by far. I hope one of them slips to the Bucs at 7.
This guy has to work on his footwork in the pocket and overall technique. He lacks deep ball accuracy but he does throw well when it comes to short and intermediate passes. He tends to leave the pocket when he's under pressure instead of stepping up and making the throw. He seems very stiff to me while he's in the pocket and often passes to his check down receiver missing some wide open targets down field. He has small hands and lacks overall size.I honestly don't think he's worth a top 10 pick and I could see him falling to the late first or even early second. He has all the intangibles but I don't think he's pro material yet and it would do him some good to sit and learn behind a veteran QB for a year or two.Say what you want that's just my opinion
Well thank god you aren't an NFL scout. What Teddy Bridgewater brings to the table is greater than any Quarterback entering the draft. His mechanics are solid, he does not fall under pressure, and his accuracy and finding the target is absurd. Teddy is one of the few quarterbacks who can roll to his left, when you watch film of Manziel he always rolls to his right simply because he is following his throwing arm. The main goal for every quarterback is to keep getting first downs, and there is no QB that can complete that goal as well as Teddy Bridgewater. He gets the job done.
nhobbs5597 Cardy is astute in his breakdown, In this clip at least, TB looks to be deep ball challenged and primarily a check down passer. He reminds me alot of McNabb... throwing to RBs and TEs looks to be his preferred method of attack.
I like His Mechanics but i do agree with the Deep Ball Accuracy..Needs alot of work..Decision making is pretty good,Great Pocket Awareness and he's pretty accurate everywhere else except Deep Ball
His deep ball accuracy is troubling. There are some explanations to that. He tends to throw to a spot instead of throwing it in stride. Nothing wrong with his footwork. Its actually one of his best traits. And you're false that leaves the pocket early. Again his pocket movement and presence is the best in the class. His weight transfer is not good. Hardly does it. Hes an arm thrower right now. So his already good arm strength, not great, has potential to get better. His o-line is the reason why he throws a lot of short-intermediate passes. His o-line is nowhere near good enough. He plays within the talents and the abilities of the offense. Also in the Louisville offense, the progressions were mostly short-long and has very few long-short progressions because he quite frankly did not have time in the pocket for that. He's a day 1 starter and is worthy of a top 5-10 pick.
Wow... and they are sleeping on this kid? I was sold at 0:37 making a throw to the sideline across your body and not leaving a floater out there. That is an NFL level throw. I hope these teams buy the Kool Aid that Mayock and the rest are selling and he falls till the second round. He would make a team very happy.
He has had some really questionable games over the years, but his coaches defensive mindset didn't help... His arm strength and accuracy are questionable.. And So many floaters.. But He is a solid kid and will not implode under the spotlight.
Well you had the benefit of a year in the NFL to make your comment.. I still stand by the weak arm comment, but he was the class of that years draft and may actually grow into a good longterm prospect.. Way better than I thought he would be. He has his head on right which is highly unusual for the prototypical full black quarterback.
Boyd>Bridgewater in most aspects. Boyd is faster, stronger, and has more of a sense of throwing receivers open. Bridgewater overthrows receivers and throws to open receivers. Enjoy another bust Houston....
Geez you really do not like him do you? Boyd, while he is my second choice for QB in Houston, is not on the same level as Bridgewater in terms of IQ, awareness, mechanics, ability to run a pro style (West Coast) offense, touch, play actions, and dropbacks. Boyd is thicker, has a stronger arm, and runs harder. They are both the same height, had awesome receivers to target, know how to scramble for yards. They also do not get rattled very easily.
I doubt Houston will draft a qb with the first pick, simply because I don't see a first over-all pick caliber qb in college right now. If I were a betting man I would say Houston takes Jadaveon Clowney from S. Carolina.
While he is the best prospect the Texans have a glaring need at QB where as the pass rusher position is a stronger position for them. If Cleveland tries to trade up I think that is a possibility and they go after Bortles.
What i like about Bridgewater is that he's so accurate, and he's very careful with the football. You can tell that he's not going to put your football team in a bad place with turnovers. I can see the Houston Texans loving him. He'd be a perfect fit there.
His intermediate to short game is very accurate, just has to work on that deep ball and his footwork. Something that won't take too long to develop in the NFL.
***** I dont think that is the case. He is who he is, these guys have played a ton of organized football by the time they get to the draft to think that you can change them overnight isnt easy.
Dudes receivers are wide the fuck open over half the time. And any quarterback could do that against Miami, they're not even in the top 25, like every team this guy ever played in his college career. His deep ball sucks too. So overrated its crazy. Just like Aaron Rodgers my ass.
lol, you came here to hate, just be honest, the camera angle doesn't even show the wrs "HALF THE TIME". And this Miami defense wasn't bad, their offense was the problem.
Sorry. Dude is overrated. He's a great athlete don't get me wrong. He was a great college QB but I don't see his game translating to the pros. He's too scared in the pocket. I saw a game where he was constantly getting sacked. Didn't even bother getting rid of the ball. He won't be able to outrun pro LBs and DEs in the NFL. His release is too low and he needs work on his deep ball. This is far from a #1 pick.
plyzwthsqrlz I agree with those guys. He is athletic but never looks to run first. He is very very poised in the pocket and scary accurate. He just need deep ball work which isn't a difficult fix. Fantastic mechanics with a quick release.
How does anyone watch this and then watch Bortles and walk away thinking Bortles is a better player? Teddy isn't perfect but his short to intermediate accuracy is top notch, he throws on the run as well as anyone and is smart. He can improve his deep ball but I just don't understand the love people have with Bortles. That dude is about as overrated as I've seen for a QB.
Alex Williams what about manziel who's better between ted & john?
youso91
I worry about Manziel's health in the NFL.
Agreed. Stop it if you think Bortles or Manziel is better.
Don't understand the people who complain about Teddy size, but want to take Manziel #1..
Thanks for this!! Awesome work
6:20 was just special..
bridgewater is unbelievable. he flicks his wrist and the ball flies 80 yards
I mean if this kid is allowed to square his shoulders and plant his feet by the defense, he's surgical.
And I love the way he hot routes his wr's and rb's when he see's zone coverage. I think his biggest problem is press man, with inside blitz's, due to his deep ball being inaccurate.
Agree with you. It has been one of his only problems.
Nice pick Vikings
His anticipation and mind for the game reminds me of Matt Ryan. Their arm strength and deep ball accuracy are also similar. In today's NFL where the quick passing game rules (there are few Seattle's out there), I think he will produce right away and have a good career.
that touch pass to Copeland while being pressured was amazing
His throws are pretty high and he could work on his deep ball. If he puts on 20-30lb, improves his technique, and expands his football IQ. You got yourself a franchise QB. No doubt about it.
How do you know he needs to expand his football IQ????? Have you met him to say this?
I agree with this sentiment, except your questioning of his football intellect. From what I've seen, one of TB's strengths is his pre-snap reads and his ability to manipulate defenders with his eyes and subtle play fakes to open holes in the defense

35/45, 446 yards, 3 TD's, 0 INT's... yeah, I look forward to seeing numbers like that with the Vikings talented offense
dame 400+ yards!!! he will be great for the vikings cant wait to see our new franchise qb
Teddy Bridgewater is the real deal. Definitely the best QB in this year's draft - by a long shot! This guy is straight NFL material.
Manziel is better purely on game tape. Teddy is a better leader. Tough.
Top QB of the draft. He takes snaps from under center and he actually makes progressions. He is disciplined and consistent. Shouldnt make it passed the Raiders.
Please come to Minnesota Teddy we need ya.
Oh man, Teddy having a running back like AP? Bridgewater would pick the D apart with playaction.
So glad he's a Viking. Woot!
Top qb in the draft. Arod arm with wilson like speed. Deep ball needs a little work but you can tell he's a rhythm passer and can streak quick. I want him on the Giants but damn we have other needs
If he just works on his deep ball, he will be very polished. Incredibly accurate
teddy is a solid qb no doubt, but his talent as a passer is just adequate, i will say this, he is adept at moving defenders and reading defenses
You didn't even see the whole video. Bro didn't even scramble through the majority of the video. Just like thrice. All of his work is done before the snap he is able to audible, read a defense. All things Johnny M can't do.
so glad he's are QB in minnesota! Skol Vikes!
Man we need him in Houston!!
there were a few hiccups with the deep passes but i still think he is more reliable than the other QB's in this years draft
jin mcclean I was talking in regards to a more diverse playbook and new schemes from DCs in the league. I'm pretty sure his overall football IQ is at the top if not the best in this class.
This time tomorrow Teddy Bridgewater will be a member of my Cleveland Browns!
Johnny SNORT LOLZZZZZZZZZ

Damn, Teddy embarrassed the hell out of The U.

Easily the best QB in this class. To me it's absurd that he's fallen so much according to the draft "experts."
Better to over throw and have a wr make a play on the ball instead of under throwing letting the defender a chance to int.
Louisville / Miami: The Sequel coming to a tv screen near you Sept. 1, 2014
Welcome to the Vike's baby!!
I love how miami got mad when we stole eli rodgers and teddy from them saying we were a weak school (than). well we won the 2013 basketball championship, the Sugar bowl and we whooped em in this bowl. and we atre going to whoop em again in the ACC next year

Well im white and i completely love teddy and as a vikings fan i welcome him
This kid plays in a supremely complex offense that is run in the pros, and everybody is worried about his darn pro day, LOLZ
Lol yet guys from gimmick offenses are getting all the praise smh
Being a smart quarterback is most important. Being smart with the ball can make u a pro bowl quarterback go ask nick foles
Welcome to Minnesota :)
Has great touch and is a top notch passer when it comes to short and intermediate passes. Still one of the top quarterbacks in this draft class, overall B+ draft grade.
Anyone but Bortles would be fitting for Houston. Bortles only throws to his first read, doesn't go through progressions.
Needs to work on deep throws. Texans don't need another shot passing QB. If u notice in this game about 70 percent of his passes were 10 to maybe 15 yards out. platypusfan1o1 All I'm saying is Johnny Manziel is a better QB then Troy Bridgewater.
HE WILL DOMINATE IN NFL HE'S USED TO THE PRO STYLE OFFENSE WHERE MANZIEL IS USING THE GIMMICK ZONE READ BULLSHIT THAT RGIII WAS USED TO.
No we need Johnny football! Go and watch his 2013 bowl game. Johnny reminds me of Drew Brees. Texans if your out there please draft Johnny football.
Honestly, Bridgewater matches what O'Brien wants in a QB more than Johnny Football. I personally think either one will do fine in Houston with all the talent that offense already has.
I hope Oakland picks this guy up.
Trust the film not one damn proday. Smh I pray teddy is there at 26 for the Browns.
That would be my dream scenario. Watkins 4 - Bridgewater 26 - Hyde 36
***** LMAO!!!! Y'all ended up with Johnny SNORT!!!
LMAO!!! Johnny SNORT baby!!

Bortles is a Rothlisburger type Qb. Bridgewater is A athletic Peyton Manning.
He gets the job done.
nhobbs5597 this footage shows manziel rolling out to his left just fine: watch?v=8LAUgtNtoDE

Cardy is astute in his breakdown, In this clip at least, TB looks to be deep ball challenged and primarily a check down passer.
He's a day 1 starter and is worthy of a top 5-10 pick.
yeah this dude is not first round, hes a richs mans version throwing of matt mcgloin for the raiders
I hope raiders get him
Wow... and they are sleeping on this kid? I was sold at 0:37 making a throw to the sideline across your body and not leaving a floater out there. That is an NFL level throw. I hope these teams buy the Kool Aid that Mayock and the rest are selling and he falls till the second round. He would make a team very happy.
He has had some really questionable games over the years, but his coaches defensive mindset didn't help... His arm strength and accuracy are questionable.. And So many floaters.. But He is a solid kid and will not implode under the spotlight.
Loving Hope arm strength? really? he just moves his wrist and the ball flies 40 yards... and if you talk about his floaters, is his style.
Well you had the benefit of a year in the NFL to make your comment.. I still stand by the weak arm comment, but he was the class of that years draft and may actually grow into a good longterm prospect.. Way better than I thought he would be. He has his head on right which is highly unusual for the prototypical full black quarterback.
matt ryan
I think you'll find Boyd gets drafted at least a full round after Bridgewater if not two or three.
I think bridgewater is overhyped but lets see if I am right or wrong.
A very inaccurate deep ball. Other than that he looks pretty good.
If you're watching this video ... You're a SCARED Packer fan .. or a Vikings fan. =)
RAIDERS
Reincarnation of Geno Smith or Peyton manning
Dudes receivers are wide the fuck open over half the time. And any quarterback could do that against Miami, they're not even in the top 25, like every team this guy ever played in his college career. His deep ball sucks too. So overrated its crazy. Just like Aaron Rodgers my ass.
lol, you came here to hate, just be honest, the camera angle doesn't even show the wrs "HALF THE TIME". And this Miami defense wasn't bad, their offense was the problem.
Sucks to be U
This is far from a #1 pick.
lol, he's a great athlete, i knew you didn't know what you were talking about once i read that phrase. Very lazy comment.
Hes an overrated player. What the hell are you watching?
plyzwthsqrlz I agree with those guys. He is athletic but never looks to run first. He is very very poised in the pocket and scary accurate. He just need deep ball work which isn't a difficult fix. Fantastic mechanics with a quick release.
So many false starts
