Maybe its the gloves but his throws were without velocity and some were wobbly as well. Accuracy was alright, this pro day was bad, but tape-wise, he is the best QB in this years draft. I wish the best for him in Norv Turner's offense, good, humble kid.
Bridgewater is definitely the most patient in the pocket and makes good reads, but i still wouldn't take him in the first round. Honestly, unless there is a QB like Andrew luck, i wouldn't waste my pick. Seattle is a good example. Build up a team until you're confident, and then take a QB in the 3rd round who can be a smart, game-manager type of player. Too often do teams reach for QB's, when they should take the most talented player available in every round.

Yeah, completing 71% of his passes sucks, 34 tds to 4 ints sucks, back to back 11-2 seasons sucks, 2 bowl wins sucks, basically turning a basketball school's football program legitimate sucks. *Define Sarcasm.
This pro day isn't as shaky as the media was making it out to be. Senior year 31 Tds and 4 picks 71% completions A couple bad throws on a pro day doesn't magically make him a bad quarterback.
Man you are soooo right. The media made his pro day out to be a disaster. I'm so glad that we have the actual footage to see for ourselves. Then again, there's been a concerted effort by the media to torpedo his chances of becoming the #1 pick since the end of the college season.
He opted not to throw with gloves on his pro day and you can see it regressed his throwing, he will definitely throw with gloves in private workouts. The media are blowing this pro day performance way out of proportion.
People blow my mind keep talking about drafting a QB in later rounds. Do you people freaking realize in the last decade 80% of Superbowl Winning QBs were drafted in the FIRST round. Seattle is an exception to the rule. Seattle wins one Superbowl and now everybody is trying to follow their blueprint like it's written in law.
What people should do is avoid media outlets during the draft process. Every journalist has an agenda and has favorites that they will look to push up by putting others down. Bridgewater didn't have that bad of a showing and even a very well respected QB Guru in Norv Turner said as much. Where Teddy will thrive is in game situations not in a practice facility with a t shirt and shorts on.
His shallow throws are a bit wobbly, that's why he threw those first the 5 step dig and 12 yard comebacks are money. Best throw is rollout left deep comeback hits back shoulder. He will fit a spread run option team that forces man very well

Even though this guy draft stock is going down, he is still the best pocket passer in the draft, and that is key to the NFL unlike in the NCAA where pocket presence isn't as important
***** NOT if Ponder or Cassel are the back up QB's. Unless you mean when the Vikings draft a new QB or trade for one. Ponder and Cassel make Bridgewater in this pro day look like Joe Montana in his prime.
Look at all these arm-chair GM's in here predicting this kid's future based on 6 minutes of a Pro-Day workout instead of the hours of actual gametape on him LOL
I kept hearing about his bad pro day over and over, so I decided to check it out. Objectively speaking, the so-called poorness of this pro day was blown way out of proportion. I swear to god, the talking heads at the NFL network just needed something to fill up air time.
Teddy is the best QB in the draft out of all those passes he only missed 6 throws, only 6 most were deep passes the hardest for any one to complete anyway Teddy the best QB draft pick.
Wow people freaked about that that? Yea some deep throws were a little off, but his short to intermediate throws were perfect. Analysts just needs a reason to bitch about someone. Teddy Bridgewater will beast in the NFL. Mark my words.
Dude. That is ridiculous. Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham, Daunte Culpepper, Steve McNair, Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick, David Garrard, Cam Newton RGIII, and Russell Wilson. You're telling me he'll be better than all those guys?

Wtf are yhese weirdos in the media complaining about? I'm sitting here watching Bortles pro day rt now and they are going half the speed Bridgewater is going, and Teddy still looks better. I hope the Texans pass on Teddy, that franchise will regret it for the next decade and a half.
If you want to know how good a player is, watch their game film. Judging an athlete based of the performance is irrational. If you are a quarterback, and you have thrown high school and college footballs your entire career; the jump to NFL balls can be drastic at times. Hand size also plays a roll in this. You can tell the Teddy is an extremely talented Quarterback. However, he looks uncomfortable throwing the NFL ball which is noticeably fatter in the mid-section and the laces are barely raised. This can be difficult because the ball he has been throwing in college is much more "QB friendly". The collegiate balls (Wilson gts, Wilson 1001 or 1005, Rawlings ST5, Nike ball) all have raised composite laces and are more slender, making them easier to grip and throw. I played quarterback in high school and college. Also, I played over in Germany in the GFL, where we had to use the NFL ball. I can attest, the NFL ball takes some getting used too. Moral(s) of this post: It is ill-advised to make such brash judgments of an athlete based off of one workout, the NFL ball is the toughest football to throw, and if you want to know how good a an athlete is at their sport....watch their game film.
Not only Derek Carr throws better than Bridgewater, I think he had the best arm in the draft, all of the Tom Savage hype is ridiculous to me, but as a all-around QB, It think Bridgewater is that guy.
This didn't seem as bad to me as people think. It's not the same throwing without your helmet to guys that are wide open. Teddy knows how to throw to guys in a game, and not throw picks. That WR in this video wasn't that great on those deep balls. A good WR like Johnny had on for his pro-day would have caught more of em. Teddy will be a very good starter in a year or two.
This is by no means an impressive pro day. That said, there were some balls that it looked like the receivers weren't even making a good effort for. I think the pro day was put together badly and doesn't necessarily reflect on Teddy's ability. When you look at some of his tape, he is extremely accurate under pressure with the receivers he's grown with (who actually make a great effort to catch the ball). I think that will translate to the NFL. Greg Jennings is a great route runner, which is why he'll be great for Teddy. Patterson has some nice ball skills (based on his rookie year with the Vikings) and runs like a mad man after he's made the catch. A.P. will also be taking pressure from the passing game by adding an extremely explosive running game into the back field. Combine all those elements with the offensive genius that is Norv Turner and I see Teddy set to succeed, and no below par pro day will bar him from doing so. I also think Bortles and Manziel have the abilities to succeed, especially Bortles with all of the weapons he was given in this past draft. The QB play this year will have us all giddy with excitement.
If he wore gloves I think he would be better. Those throws were do to death grip. And to all the RGIII haters , he is done from rehabbing so you guys will witness greatness. Old adage is don't kick a man while he is down.
this performance is no surprise. he struggled most with throwing downfield during the season. doesn't have a lot of arm strength. you can get by with that in college, not so sure about the pros
Bridgewater made 69% of passes thrown 11-20 yards and made 51% of throws 20+ yards. Compare that with Carr, the "Elite arm strength prospect", who completed 64% of throws 11-20 yards and only 44% of throws 20+ yards.
Not a good pro day but if you ever watched any games from Lousiville, you'd know that he is far from garbage. One of the best pocket passers in this draft.
this bad performance is more or less based off of nerves and an extreme focus on timing. throw om the run is average and deep ball could use some work, but hell go no lower than #3 to jacksonville. best qb all around in this draft, similar to luck in terms of play style(good passer from the pocket, good on the run, great intangibles.)
I'm still a big believer in Teddy but he missed out on a huge chance to capture the momentum after he did not throw at the draft! Keep working man...you will get there!!!
PhillyPhan WTF are you watching? I've watched them both play, Bridgewater is playing the better game. I like Carr too but get off his nuts. What running game/WRs did the Vikings have that was so much better then the Raiders? The top receiver for the Vikings was picked up from the Brown's practice squad and our RB was suspended. A good QB makes the players around him better. Besides the TD's and yardage gained in 3 more games played, Bridgewater surpassed Carr in every passing category.
Angela Nagel Sorry but Carr's the better Pro QB. I'd have him as my starter over Bridgewater any day. However, you can never know for sure because they're on different teams facing different competition in different systems. I just see more NFL-quality throws on Carr's tape.
PhillyPhan Again, I don't know what "tape" you are watching or where you gained your expertise but the rest of the NFL community agrees with me, chief. That's why TB was a ROY finalist and Carr wasn't. Carr fans always trolling Bridgewater videos/stories.
Angela Nagel What tape? The GAME TAPE. Are you kidding me? Put Bridgewater on the Raiders and Carr on the Vikings and I'd bet a thousand bucks on Carr having the better numbers (not to mention tape). You have your opinion, I have mine. I base mine on the dozens of hours of game tape I've looked at on tons of quarterbacks. I see Carr as similar to a Carson Palmer or Philip Rivers. We'll have to see in 2015/16 if Carr gets some weapons to work with. The best receiver in Oakland would have been a 2nd or 3rd stringer in Minnesota, and don't even get me started on the last ranked running game.
PhillyPhan lmfao of course Carr's stats are better he played three more games than Bridgewater. Carr can't even sniff the jock strap of Bridgewaters Completion percentage.
@Kody Whittington Obviously you haven't seen Teddy Bridgewater play. I've followed Teddy for 2 seasons. This kid is definitely #1 pick material. Pro days don't mean shit. There's a big difference from stupid ass drills and the real game. When Cam came out he did a TERRIBLE job throwing the ball at the combine and look how he turned out. He broke records.
His footwork isnt really matter. He can fix that when he get to the pro.He has the potential to be an Nfl quaterback. All Manziel has is a shake and bake and making big noise. He will be just like Tim Tebow.
Remember football fans Tom Brady was draft on 6th round .Nobody didnt pay any attention to him. Most of the time good College quaterback are not make in the Nfl.Lets just wait until december before making judgement. We seen that over and over College quaterbacks making big noise on draft day and SUCKS when they get to the PRO.
Everyone talking about him having a bad pro day must have forgot about jamarcus Russell having the quote unquote best pro day to date this means nothing at all and I wud rather have Teddy over the other 2 he plays smarter and takes care of the ball
Russel fell to the third only because of bullshit reasons despite showing how good he was in college. To the evaluators, he was just too short to succeed. He didn't fit their physical bulletpoints but proved them wrong by the end of his rookie year then dug the knife in deeper with a Superbowl blowout victory his sophomore. Scouts have tried to learn from passing up Wilson, but they have only applied it to height. They don't take it far enough in my opinion. Now its happening all over again with TB. Everyone jumps on the "I knew he was no good all along" bandwagon the second TB is any less than stellar. The fact that it comes after such an arbitrary thing like a Pro Day is even more laughable. All the sudden he has a "weak arm" and a "fragile body" despite never missing a single start over 3 years at Louisville. Every thing that isn't 100% bulletproof gets blown up into being the tragic flaw in the prospect's Shakespearean play, destined to end in ruin. They also start making false speculation claims like TB has a low ceiling. How the fuck do they know what a QB's ceiling is? What makes them fit to say that someone's absolute best will be better than someone else's best? Did anyone give Russel Wilson the memo that his best performance will never be as good as Andrew Luck's? No one talks about the real things that franchise QB's need to have and exhibit week in and week out unless they are an independent game tape analyst or something along those lines. After decades, we still come back to the "prototypical QB" theory that if a prospect simply has the physical tools to be successful, they can be coached up to actually use those tools no matter what red flags they might have displayed in college then scratch our heads when 70% of QB's fail in the NFL. We need to find a new approach to evaluating QB talent. One where we see what traits a prospect has AND has shown that they can use it during actual games. Some things you can try to hammer into a prospect for months or even years that just go out the window when Sunday rolls around like pocket awareness and fearlessness. A guy can have an absolute cannon for an arm but that means didly squat if they go into The Standing Fetal Position when they think pressure is coming. I personally would take the guy who has shown me more than when the lights are on and the chips are down, he can deliver a game winning performance over the guy who had his draft stock rise during the offseason media hype. TLDR, the bottom line of scouting should revolve around five words: Can the kid fucking play? To me, Bridgewater has shown me that, but I'll let the hate flow so maybe he can drop to #8. ;)
Man I wish I could have a photo of all these haters when Teddy Bridgewater first of all gets drafted early and second of all is rookie of the year. There is not one qb even close to his skill set. I'm going to repeat there is not one qb even close to Bridgewaters skill set. There are two qb's that have a strong particular skill he doesn't have and thats Manziel with his speed and elusiveness and deceptive accuracy and Zach Mettenberger with his deadly deep ball but other then that I put Teddy at the top of every other category, oh but he loses in the category of pro day as well. Give the other guys the pro day reward.
he was so accurate with his passes in college he can only get better. I chalk this up to just having an off day and not wearing his gloves. I do not think the powers that be put a lot of stock in pro days. I'm pulling for Teddy because he seems like a good kid that seems to be grounded unlike Manziel who is a walking circus act.
i really dont know y his draft stock fell so much after this... u know what ur getting out of teddy on film... he is a great decision maker with tremendous accuracy that excels at Play action... he never had a strong arm or a great deep ball.. never seen a player drop from possibly 1st overall to now fighting to stay in the 1st round... he reminds me of a matt schaub and i think Cleveland gets a steal with this guy in the late 1st round.
I don't get it. By the reaction of pundits I was expecting to watch a total disaster where about 10 balls were accurate out of 25. I saw like 5 bad throws. I do wish his arm looked stronger.
I have a feeling he's gonna surprise some ppl...he just needs 2 stay focused, study and grow...and he gonna have AP 2 take a big load off of em...we shall c tho...hope these young dudes so well #optimist
This whole nfl drafting process is wrong! They work these qbs out who have been superstars for years in real life situations, then they put them in these situation's where they nitpick their throws and hurt their confidence. Houston should've already committed to Teddy, and he shouldn't have to go through this degrading process. The system is why so many qbs come in and have no confidence and play awful.
We won't know the full talent of a player until they're on the field. Draft stock means nothing. Too many first round busts (Leaf, J. Russell, Couch) and too many late-round legends (Brady, Sharpe, etc.)
Compared to the likes of Luck and RG3, even Russell Wilson....Bridgewater throwing deep is pretty bad. Based on his game tape I like his touch in the redzone and intermediate accuracy but beyond that he's below average to me.
I see nothing in this video that makes me think that this guy should have gone from Consensus number 1 pick to possibly falling outnof the first round. Sure some of his deep balls were the greatest but, maybe he had an off day. Watch his tape against teams like Cincinnati, Florida in 2012, and Miami this year. Plus how was Tom Brady's combine??? Thats what I thought
maybe he threw his pro-day purposely so i would'nt be drafted to any of the sorry top teams, just a thought and said it was because of him not wearing his gloves?
You sir, are an idiot. Can't throw a tight spiral. Deep balls have vet shaky accuracy. Not so great of footwork. Small hands. Lacks elite arm strength. What more do you need to know? He simply isn't an elite QB.
so a couple of over throws and spirals that could be tigther, but can we talk about the camera work? thats pretty horrendous to try to watch. As a potential pick for the Minnesota Vikings it's not what i wanted to see out of Teddy but its better than what we have. Mccarron > Manziel > Bridgewater.
To me he's not worth a top ten pick. If I was looking for a qb and I was in the mid 20s or so then ill probably consider him. But he's definitely not worth a top ten pick. They only qb I might consider it I had a top ten pick would be Blake or MAYBE Johnny. Ill go clowney as the top overall pick if I was the Texans GM. Pair him up with jj watt and man they'll have a d-line to scared of for yrs to come.
I bet if he wore the glove then y'all wouldn't be talking shit. I guarantee he has a better career than Manziel! So much hype with Johnny football. Plus these are scripted and does anyone remember Russell's pro day? Anyone?
this is really annoying to watch when you're zoomed in like that on every throw, can't even see the path of the ball or sometimes the catch being made. i hope you were drunk.
I think this camera man had a worse pro-day than Teddy Bridgewater.
Am I the only one that noticed he didn't have any gloves on?
Some ppl are saying he had an "Average" pro day because he insisted on not wearing gloves.
justmuteit Bridgewater said himself that he regretted not putting his gloves on.
Jamarcus Russell had a great pro day therefore he is the greatest of all time
I remember Blaine Gabbert having a 'very good' pro day and Jamarcus Russell having the greatest pro day of all time and look what happened to them.
Maybe its the gloves but his throws were without velocity and some were wobbly as well. Accuracy was alright, this pro day was bad, but tape-wise, he is the best QB in this years draft. I wish the best for him in Norv Turner's offense, good, humble kid.
Conspiracy Theory: bridgewater did bad in pro day so he didn't have to play for the jags X)
Bridgewater is definitely the most patient in the pocket and makes good reads, but i still wouldn't take him in the first round. I couldn't have said it any better lol!
W
Teddy Bridgewater's Pro Day was Bad.
Jamarcus Russell's Pro Day was one the best of all time.
....Do I need to elaborate more?
Pro Days do not define NFL careers.
1. Bridgewater
2. Brotles
3. McCarron
T4. Manziel/ Carr.( Because there are way too many Pros vs Cons between these two QBs).
BTW- Nick Foles, Cam Newton, and yes, Drew Brees had bad Pro Days, and look what happened.
-Nick Foles finished his year with 27 tds and 2 ints
-Cam Newton Broke nearly all of the rookie QB records and a 12-4 season to end last year.
-And Drew Brees, I dont want to type all of the accomplishments he made, but he took his bad Pro Day to the Super Bowl and won as MVP.
Teddy will be just fine...
I stopped reading after Brownwater 1st
killerdemo That's cute!
killerdemo It's not hard to spell Bridgewater, but you will get it! :)
theres a reason i call him brownwater.. cuz he sucks
Yeah, completing 71% of his passes sucks, 34 tds to 4 ints sucks, back to back 11-2 seasons sucks, 2 bowl wins sucks, basically turning a basketball school's football program legitimate sucks. *Define Sarcasm.
Johnny manziel is probably going to jags, Bortles is probably going to browns (26 pick), and bridgewater is most likely going to minnesota
POV: You’re here after Marlon Humphreys comment
I'm here after the pivot podcast interview....
Ill pray for him to play better i hope he will be a starter for an nfl team
Lmao Reading the comments 4 years later is absolutely hilarious. I can't believe some people thought this guy is better than Carr
This pro day isn't as shaky as the media was making it out to be.
Senior year 31 Tds and 4 picks 71% completions
A couple bad throws on a pro day doesn't magically make him a bad quarterback.

Bridgewater made 69% of passes thrown 11-20 yards and made 51% of throws 20+ yards. Compare that with Carr, the "Elite arm strength prospect", who completed 64% of throws 11-20 yards and only 44% of throws 20+ yards.
Bo Horn I actually wish him the best... seems like a really good young man
Not a good pro day but if you ever watched any games from Lousiville, you'd know that he is far from garbage.
Lol this is so funny reading these comments now and seeing all the hater of Bridgewater and then he plays better then all the Qbs in his class lol
PhillyPhan
lmfao of course Carr's stats are better he played three more games than Bridgewater. Carr can't even sniff the jock strap of Bridgewaters Completion percentage.
is that mike evans and Watkins?
Why does he have to hold his hand before the snap?
@Kody Whittington Obviously you haven't seen Teddy Bridgewater play. I've followed Teddy for 2 seasons. This kid is definitely #1 pick material. Pro days don't mean shit. There's a big difference from stupid ass drills and the real game. When Cam came out he did a TERRIBLE job throwing the ball at the combine and look how he turned out. He broke records.
Wtf why wouldnt he wear his gloves? He used them all season but not now?
His footwork isnt really matter. He can fix that when he get to the pro.He has the potential to be an Nfl quaterback. All Manziel has is a shake and bake and making big noise. He will be just like Tim Tebow.
Ouch...I know Teddy is better than this, but this really hurts his stock.
Its all about Johnny Manziel to ya'all , watch Teddy Bridgewater take the NFL by storm
He's a smart quarterback and that's what separates him from other qbs
Best QB in the draft by far
Remember football fans Tom Brady was draft on 6th round .Nobody didnt pay any attention to him. Most of the time good College quaterback are not make in the Nfl.Lets just wait until december before making judgement. We seen that over and over College quaterbacks making big noise on draft day and SUCKS when they get to the PRO.
and that proved what ya nothing im a florida fan hes for real, and I hope the Vikings get him
Lol he sucked!!!
Bortles might end up being the best from this class. It will be interesting. All the QB's have something unique to offer.
That was brutal. I wanted to look away but I couldn't.
Who filmed this? You can't even see the ball for 50% of his passes.
Didn't know it was duck season
To me, Bridgewater has shown me that, but I'll let the hate flow so maybe he can drop to #8. ;)
Man, who was working the camera?
I think it was some dude phone.
I'd draft Teddy Bridgewater if I were The Jaguars!!!!!!!!!
Throwing to wide open receivers really isn't difficult
All I got to say is, Where are the gloves. Touchdown Teddy OH YEAH!
he was so accurate with his passes in college he can only get better.
A quarterback's DNA is shown on game film, Teddy Bridgewater is the best NFL ready QB in this draft
.
Unwatchable camera work. From what I saw it is a rough showing for teddy he is a much better QB than this
This whole nfl drafting process is wrong!
Only bad things I see are his deep throw acc. & his throw on the run. Both you can fix in an off season or 2.
Normally he throws with a glove and on his pro day without. Isn't that the reason why,it wasn't that good ?
Raiders should pass on him
His passes looked a little weak and wobbly...
It's a safer bet to always go with a white quarterback in the NFL.
Small hands. Has a hard time gripping the ball. Also, looked nervous.
Jesus, just watch the film...
what do u call all the white people in this video? ....spectators
And before any idiots correct me, yes I know this wasnt the combine. It was his pro day
And before any idiots correct me, yes I know this wasnt the combine. It was his pro day
maybe he threw his pro-day purposely so i would'nt be drafted to any of the sorry top teams, just a thought and said it was because of him not wearing his gloves?
Shah you guys are gonna be so mad when he's in the hall of fame literally the best qb since luck Idc about this bull shit work out
You're an idiot....Hall of Fame?!?
You sir, are an idiot. Can't throw a tight spiral. Deep balls have vet shaky accuracy. Not so great of footwork. Small hands. Lacks elite arm strength. What more do you need to know? He simply isn't an elite QB.
This was a great internet discussion.
Ethan Jones You sir, are an idiot! Everyone said the same stuff about Tom Brady and lets take a step back and look where he is right now??
Tom Brady is white and played at Michigan....
good job, next time just try to improve filming. thanks
Brown water's balls are too slow
so a couple of over throws and spirals that could be tigther, but can we talk about the camera work? thats pretty horrendous to try to watch. As a potential pick for the Minnesota Vikings it's not what i wanted to see out of Teddy but its better than what we have. Mccarron > Manziel > Bridgewater.
Dude you need better camera skills
pro day don't mean shit…first round pick and he's learning under Norv Turner. The talking heads of sports are full of crap
Pair him up with jj watt and man they'll have a d-line to scared of for yrs to come.
misses deep balls, not enough zip on the ball when thrown.
He's too thin, needs to work on
Throwing mechanics but he's def better than ej Manuel & geno smith when they all playing at their best
Just another bench warmer.
