    Some really great vert tips here. You definitely get out what you put into vertical jump training. *However, most people don't realise how easy it is to add a few inches to their jump with some simple mobilisation and activation exercises*. Sometimes just this alone will help athletes achieve their goal of dunking.
    The strength/plyo/reactivity training takes it to the next level.

    This is the first time I have heard the stretch reflex cycle mentioned in probably 30 videos. These guys know what they are talking about. This stuff WILL get you jumping higher.

    Agreed. This is the best strength training or body building video I've ever seen on youtube. I'm usually disappointed by poor explanations or inaccurate/fad information that shows the trainer's lack of depth in their understanding. This guy was great. (for reference I have an honours degree in kinesiology).

    most running shoes have cushioning for running and have support structures that promote a neutral foot position during running. during weight lifting it is better to have a more stable shoe without the cushioning and support structures

    Well it really depends, if you're like me playing basketball and you want to dunk, it's best to jump with one leg starting by running and increase the speed while you get closer to the basket and then explode up with the momentum you acquired from the run to get a high vertical jump. Two leg jump is definitely higher than the one leg jump IF YOURE stationary. Hope this helps. :) Cheers

    Is it better to jump on one feet oor two? Thanks to whoever can answer this

  • @NathanKiely
    @NathanKiely 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The fact you have to talk about technique so much just goes to show how floored the SVJ is as a test of explosive lower body power. The CMJ is a far better test because you can't game the test with technique. I also see no practical reason to do nordic curls in training for jumping. It's a great exercise for building hamstring strength and reducing hamstring injuries, but to say hamstrings are a big factor in vertical jumps is just plain wrong, it is a quad and glute dominated movements and the flexion at the hips and knees means that the hamstrings experience little to no tensions throughout the entire movement.

    Hello, You can actually increase 2-4 inches in vertical leap in just two weeks by following the correct training system & have a good eating plan. My friend acquired 9 inches in just 12 weeks and now he can 360 dunk with 2 hands.

      plyometrics works whit low reps and series, we who practice sprinting start using 4 x 5 squats whit jump...after some time and strong back and shoulder you can use wheight too ;)

    are running shoes not good for weightlifting ? please explain because thats what I have been using

    • @Jonathanjurewicz
      @Jonathanjurewicz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Running shoes are supporting but do not offer a solid base to apply force. I recommend a.) Reebox Nanos, b.) "Olympic Lifters" (my fav), c.) Nike Metcon (my fav) or d.) Chuck Taylor's or wrestling shoes. Save the runners for running!
