I tried the Essence mascara (green one) and it was one of the worst mascaras that I have ever tried in terms of smudging. I looked like a panda within hours! I have super oily skin, just like Nikkia. It just goes to show how different everyone’s skin is.

I’m very oily within 30 minutes and I blot several times a day AND I’m on tretinoin 🙄for reference. do you use eye shadow primer (not concealer)? Even if I don’t wear eyeshadow I still put a little bit on to keep the eyelid less oily and it helps the mascara not transfer.
Same here! I actually love it, it works great for me but always transfers on bottom and especially top lid! I thought I was the only one who thought that lol 😂

Also, I recently tried the Maybelline Sky Hight mascara and love it! It does not tansfer on me enter. Just another option to try out and see what works for you. This one is only 1 step, no primer, only the mascara.
I just got the Essence lash princess. I have small hooded as well, and I love the HG caution, but my favorite is Benifit’s Bad gal bang. No transferring and no flakes and has a small brush.

God HG is on the list. It’s my favorite mascara of all time will never be without. I have weird brow bones that kinda droop and oily skin there too and mascara ALWAYS smudged there. The first ever mascara that hasn’t.

I have the black & green Essence mascara. Although it's a great mascara, I wouldn't say it's budge proof. I have fairly long lashes and it does end up smudging under my eyebrows throughout the day. Nothing too bad though and it's not a deal breaker but it does definitely smudge a little bit.
I bought the Caution one for my mum who has short lashes post chemo and it’s been amazing for her! And I just bought the Essence Volume Stylist 18 hour hold and the get big lashes volume curl and there’s zero smudging or flaking even in this crazy humid weather. Plus they’re $6 or less!
What’s crazy is that I have dry skin for the most part of my face but my eye lids are pretty oily!! So I have this problem like crazy! LOL So crazy, especially with eyeliner!! But the gel eye liner form elf is really good!

Fave drug store mascara for me is and will always be L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black. It's SO GOOD! High end is Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme. Both of these have that same brush!!

Personal preference but I don’t like either of these mascaras. The EL has a huge brush and a formula that gets everywhere. Hourglass Caution is the only one i can use now that I’m older and have more hooded eyes.

I have tried my sample Estee lauder Sumptuous Extreme mascara. and so far I have liked it, like you I have tried so many and have small eyes with oily lids.
I use Maybelline Super Stay. I also use Napoleon Perdis which has a great small brush to do my lower lashes. Two no one talks about, but both work for me.
Hope you can do a video of top eyeliners that don’t smudge, disappear or give me raccoon eyes at the end off the day especially for those oily skin girls 😩
You are absolutely right about that essence mascara in the green and black tube. I’ve been using it ever since juicy jas talked about it on her channel from the last year. When I go to Ulta I usually pick them up by nearly a half a dozen.
My fave Maybelline is The Falsies Push Up Drama. And I just discovered Eyeko Lash Alert, which is fiberized and does not budge just like It Cosmetics Superhero (another fave), but it has a curved stiff comb brush like Roller Lash(which transfers terribly on me). Another good one I found is BH cosmetics Stellarlash.
Totally agree on the MAC one. I bought it because I heard it was good for the lower lash line but I eventually realised it's fantastic on the upper lashes for very respectable length and volume without clumpiness. :)
Clinique lash power has been my go to for many years. I have oily skin and this is the only one I could wear that didn’t smudge. I have tried the Mac one and it smudged on me. You hands down should try Clinique lash power.
Ugh! Yes please! I have an oily T-zone and I work in a really busy restaurant and at the end of my shifts I have that same raccoon under eye thing going on.
I love the lash princess mascara, but I also have very oily skin and it does smudge on me. My suggestion to the ones with the same issue, try the Telescopic mascara on the outer lashes and use the essence one for the rest, it works for me.
The essence works only if you apply a primer, the Milani on the purple bottle does the trick, also the voluminous superstar xfiber in the purple dual tip from L’Oréal would do the trick as well and there’s no smudging or flaking. You will love the results, I have very short and flat lashes.
I loooove Revitalash mascara, never had issues with this one. I believe this is the best one out there which suits my oily skin. Laura Geller Dramatic mascara is also good, if you want fake lashes affect.
Love the Essence and Tarte ones too! I also like the Essence in the purple tube. Brush is curved tho. My new fave is Maybelline Falsies Lashlift. Bam! Honorablr mention to Loreal Lash Paradise and Cover Girl Exhibitionist as well. Thanks as always for sharing. Gonna try that Mac one for sure!
I have small deep set eyes and long eye lashes. Literally the only mascara that works for me is Dior Overcurl Iconic mascara. It is technically not advertised as waterproof but you can jump in a pool and it will stay. It also comes off easy peasy with most face washes. My only criteria for mascara is literally making my lashes darker so I am not sure if it will do anything else it advertises.
I was so hoping to see L’Oréal on this list. The Tarte one is great!! The essence did not do good for me (flaking and smudging) I think I’ll try the Maybelline next. Tired of spending over $10 for a good mascara
The MAC does smudge on me ! But then a lot of mascara's do and I think it is because of menopauze, since I never had that problem earlier. I do like the caution from hourglass and the volume mascara from Chanel is super !

My top fave smudgeproof, flakeproof and longwearing mascara is tbe LOreal Lash Paradise..NO JOKE! gym, shower, pool, no flaking or smudging!!! But i need a new one coz i been using this for YEARS and i wanna try new ones hahaha
My current favourite is Maybelline big shot shayla collab! I wish they had waterproof. I always prefer waterproof mascaras as I have oily lids and my eyes always get watery at some point during the day. I might get the original big shot waterproof next time. My other faves are Revlon volume+length magnified mascara and Loreal lash paradise. They have different bristles than big shot but they do deliver volume and smudge proof which I really appreciate. I have yet to try essence mascaras.
I know you always tell us to comment what we would like to see and I really would love to see the review on the colourpop skin tint try on! It’s a line that just came to Ulta! THANK YOU for addressing the smudge factor and different eye types! There are 6 (!) women in my family with small, oily, hooded eyes and every time one of us finds their favorite mascara it gets discontinued (most of us generally circle through Covergirl and Maybelline mascaras). Thank you for listing both the cheaper end of the scale and ones like Tarte that are supposed to be better for you. I’m looking forward to trying these!

I adore the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara and I’ve recently bought my 14 year old daughter the Maybelline Colossal lash and she loves it. She has really sensitive eyes and skin and it’s the only one that doesn’t seem to bother her

I wear essence mascara every day (under my falsies because if I’m leaving the house I have falsies on 5-7 days a week). I love love love l’Oreal lash paradise. I tried the Tart mascara it dropped once broke could never use it again

I’m also a VERY VERY oily skin type with small hooded eyes and have totally fallen in love with the Thrive Causemetics’ Liquid Lash Extension Mascara. I swear, it’s 💯 the BEST mascara I’ve ever used in my life. The brush is small and holds an amazing amount of product. My lashes look insanely long and the mascara doesn’t budge a bit. Give it a go! ❤️
I have small, hooded, deepest eyes with oily lids and straight lashes. Hourglass is my HG but I feel like it's a finicky product and can be difficult to work with in several ways. I don't recommend it to people who aren't very experienced with mascara. The essence one is one of the worst for transferring onto my brow bone. I also find it to be a super super wet formula. Even the waterproof one transfers, but is super hard to get off. It burns for me too, but not all essence mascaras do

Clinique high impact curling mascara!!! It’s a tubula one and it’s AMAZING!!! Have a good play with it and it’s the bomb!

Every single one of these smudges on me. Tubular mascaras are where it's at... the Kevyn Acoin volume mascara is my holy trail.

Nikkia, have you tried the IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Mascara? The Essence (green packaging) is supposed to be a dupe for it...

I love maybelline bigshot and essence. Always repurchase them. I dont like spending alot in mascara . Feel like the drugstore mascara does a good job

I really recommend that you try NYX on the rise mascara. It’s great for day to day where. Not excessive, but not basic.
The mac giga black is my favorite mascara for the bottom lashes, the only one that doesn't smudge

My other faves are Revlon volume+length magnified mascara and Loreal lash paradise. They have different bristles than big shot but they do deliver volume and smudge proof which I really appreciate. I have yet to try essence mascaras.

THANK YOU for addressing the smudge factor and different eye types! There are 6 (!) women in my family with small, oily, hooded eyes and every time one of us finds their favorite mascara it gets discontinued (most of us generally circle through Covergirl and Maybelline mascaras). Thank you for listing both the cheaper end of the scale and ones like Tarte that are supposed to be better for you. I’m looking forward to trying these!
Love then all except I've never tried the MAC one though I've been considering it. I will try it now. I have small hooded lids and thus far your suggestions usually pay off so I'm going to go with it
Do not waste your money on that mascara! The brush is to long for small eyes and it smudges after 2h of wearing

I adore the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara and I’ve recently bought my 14 year old daughter the Maybelline Colossal lash and she loves it. She has really sensitive eyes and skin and it’s the only one that doesn’t seem to bother her
You should try the new Maybelline Falsies, it’s totally smudge proof and gives me amazing length☺️

I adore the essence lash princess in the green. I get accused of wearing falsie, but I don't. Essence has an orange lettering one too my mother swears by.

I wear essence mascara every day (under my falsies because if I’m leaving the house I have falsies on 5-7 days a week). I love love love l’Oreal lash paradise. I tried the Tart mascara it dropped once broke could never use it again
I agree Maybelline is one of my favorite mascara brands . I actually picked up the new falsies mascara and this other new one .
I like the tarte mascaras but I must be oilier than you cause they transfer every time. I love the thrive causemetices mascara. Have you tried it ?

I’m also a VERY VERY oily skin type with small hooded eyes and have totally fallen in love with the Thrive Causemetics’ Liquid Lash Extension Mascara. I swear, it’s 💯 the BEST mascara I’ve ever used in my life. The brush is small and holds an amazing amount of product. My lashes look insanely long and the mascara doesn’t budge a bit. Give it a go! ❤️

I have small, hooded, deepest eyes with oily lids and straight lashes. Hourglass is my HG but I feel like it's a finicky product and can be difficult to work with in several ways. I don't recommend it to people who aren't very experienced with mascara. The essence one is one of the worst for transferring onto my brow bone. I also find it to be a super super wet formula. Even the waterproof one transfers, but is super hard to get off. It burns for me too, but not all essence mascaras do
