My grandmother being of Welsh decent, had a child out of wedlock in the earlier 1920's on a farm in Canada and the baby was given to the Salvation army orphanage but when the orphanage was close down, the girl child was returned to my grandmother. This story triggered my memories of the story of my grandmother.

Best possible outcome in those days. Everyone got support from the community best they could.

What a lovely Christian man and gentleman. He reflects well on the Salvation Army. God bless him.

That's Commissioner Keith Banks, former Chaplain of Glasgow Airport.

He nearly loses it when he hears that she would have been accepted, welcomed, supported and loved by 'the army'. But he doesn't let it go this time. What a relief to hear though.

The illegitimate child and her mother would not have been welcomed in the army….it would have been shocking, she would not be allowed to wear uniform or become a soldier and would have been excluded and marginalised within its ranks…..this practise continued within that movement right up until the 1980,s. The Commissioner is very wrong in making this assurance to Jeremy, love acceptance fellowship and food would not have been her experience, judgment and harsh treatment would have been the reality

Maybe it depended on what part of the Army. Maybe some welcomed “sinners ” much better than others

Frankly, then why would she have joined?

That's incorrect information. Suggest that you research

You do know that The Salvation Army had mother and baby's homes.
