I'm born and raised in NYC inner neighborhoods, I never had any interest or knowledge of farming until I started playing Farm Simulator on my PlayStation and once I discovered Mike's page it's become a dream to me at the age of 46. I find myself daydreaming of one day striking it rich, buy some land and work the fields all day....God Bless you Mike and all the farmer's in this great nation and around the world!!! 💪✌️❤️🦉
You know Mike I never get tired of watching your videos you bring enjoyment into all your videos .I would love to meet up with you some time in the near future. Thanks Mike keep those silage videos coming that's my favorite time of year harvest time.
Why do they use the tractors on the left side oft the harvester if all the console are on the right and the operator usually has to focus on the console/monitors
Operator preference. Some guys switch back and forth every pass and just work across the field that way and others are just always keep it to the right or left.
Cool video. Love that older JD 8410. Those were great looking tractors as are the two NH machines on the pile. Was the Claas chopper overheating a bit? I see they had the rear door raised up some.
Why are you harvesting this early, I always thought Ohio was a mild climate (here in northern Germany we normally harvest corn from mid september to mid october and its not colder than Ohio here).
Hey you must of missed me talking in the beginning of the video? I shot this footage in September of 2020. Corn silage can start here anytime from mid August to mid September depending on our weather. We have been getting some good rain this summer but I talked to several guys that will be starting in two weeks
Mike, do you know if the contractor is doing the harvesting, field to silo transportation and the silo packing. If so they sure do have the right combination of equipment to do a complete job.
I can't see how feeding beef cattle make sense in a indoor operation. There would be a lot of labor keeping the feedlot clean vs outdoors where the 'stuff' can compost and then be piled and hauled out later.
This is a dairy farm dairy cows have tobe milked inside cause of all the milking machines plus all the electronics that are inside of the building a regular feedlot is outside in the weather which in that case most feedlots when they clear out a pen full of cattle they go in there with scrapers and some use earth movers but most use blades and front end loaders to clear out all the manure and get the dirt ready for the next set of cows togo into that particular pen
@@rebelgaming7718 I'd like to thank you for the clarification of the style of this operation that overrides what Mike says at 1:29 as to the type of farming operation is taking place here
We don't have the climate here in Ohio to have cattle feedlots like they do out west. Most all cattle feeding operation in these parts have a roof over them.
Yes and the one in the video here. I actually have that on a corn silage video from a few years ago when these guys were chopping at a farm near West Alexandria Ohio.
I enjoyed watching all those big machines. Thank you so much for that Mike. But I honestly don’t believe in dairy farming. I do not believe in separating a cat from its mother, and I think is the coolest thing that has ever been done. I don’t believe in killing calves because it boys and I don’t believe in making those kills slaves turn out machine. It’s very sad to me.
I don’t believe in separating a calf from its mother and I don’t believe in killing boy calves. It’s the cruelest thing I have seen and I don’t ever need so much milk that an innocent calf and cow should suffer. Yes, industry needs milk but do we need cow milk really?

I love to watch farming videos, I love big John deere tractors 9430 duel wheels all the way around
Top video, great photography !!
Hope to see you out there again this year Mike!
Hoping you will be at the same farm this year...they are using a couple of our red tractors this year...
Excellent videos.
This must not be the one where someone bumped into the back of the chopper with a JCB tractor? Great video Mike!!

Ummm my birthday is in February.

I think the fiberglass was cracked and latch wouldn't hold
That Deere 4555. 💪🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸 Awesome footage once again Mike!!

@@farmhandmike Sorry I must have overheard that the footage was from September 2020.
@@jonasbrock3959 it’s all good.
I remember the chopper from previous videos, was he having cooling trouble or was the hood just not able to be latched?
Not positive but I think I drove past that place on my way down to the Tractor Pull in Eaton
Good Chance it was. This road will take you right into Eaton depending how you travel in.
Nice video, Mike. Good to see some night shots

They do it all. The farm is supplying a the John Deere tractors pulling two of the wagons though.
I know it’s been 2 years but why is the back door on the chopper open?
For the comment section! lol. I think someone ran into the back and the latch broke.

This is not a dairy farm. They are feeding these cattle out for beef.
@@farmhandmike oops my bad

Are you going to be at the Farm Science Review?
Yes I am planning on it.
Wondering if you have driven a JCB?
Yes and the one in the video here. I actually have that on a corn silage video from a few years ago when these guys were chopping at a farm near West Alexandria Ohio.
How many head of cattle do they feed and assume other crops
I'm not sure.
Corn silage is right around the corner here in WI
That corn has long since been turned into beef and eaten. A real time capsule here although I would never know it if you hadn't said so.
2 to watch badass videos mike
