Considering every almost Z car has been named based on its engine displacement since day one why do people think they are going to change that theme. I would not be surprised if they call it a Fairlady 300Z or 300ZX. Nissan has never named a Z car based on its crank horsepower ever and only broke the naming convention once with the Nissan Fairlady Z 432 (4 valves, 3 carburetors, and 2 camshafts.)when they gave it a Hakosuka Skyline GT-R engine. Food for thought.
IMO, the 370Z is still one of the best looking sports cars today. Why it gets a bad rep is 1. Kids still can’t afford an unmolested one, 2. The interior is very outdated, and 3. It’s N/A which means tuning potential is a lot lower than a bunch of the cheaper 2.0T cars of today. Once the 400Z comes out, with a factory twin turbo engine, the sky is the limit for this car! 2-seater, amazing body lines, RWD = true sports car. Nissan is going to put the market to shame with the 400Z
My buddy has a vr30ddtt in his 370z.. I believe he's the only one with an automatic still. Could be wrong but those cars are amazing with the vr30 swap
sounds so much more responsive (looking at your inputs and the delay in sound) with the manual and the small chassis. They shoulda at least gave the q50/60 a nicer auto (I remember the q50 concept with the vr36 being too tight for a dct)
They actually made a VQ40 but it's only for SUV's and trucks, we don't want that thing on the Z! The VR30 is the best option and it brings back the Z to it's twin turbo past, much better
400Z drops. VR parts increases by 10x. This leads to: Q50/Q60 resale value increases because some people will start to want a VR motor in a different body style. Honestly people literally was asleep on the VR motor. This motor can easily get you 4XXWHP on a tune on PUMP GAS. Easily 460WHP with tune/FBO on PUMP GAS. 5XXWHP on E.
Not really as more cars total are going to be sold thanks to the new Z meaning there is going to be greater supply for people to pull from. The Z had always held its value pretty well, at least compared to its luxury twins the G35/37.
@@LOVE-VIBES-X-PROJECT-CARS I’m sure there is a difference in the size of the engine bays, i haven’t actually compared the size of the engine bays. I’m positive a VK5.6 could fit maybe not a supercharged version due to hood clearance but a turbocharged version should.

Noir. TM also has a VR30 swap he did himself on TH-cam
You’re the first person to mention him. I wonder if your comment will commit suicide lol
This thing just looks sick
Always down for OEM+ swaps
the VR30 loves 3rd and 4th 😎
This is a sick build I recently got into the Z cars and datsun models
Now THIS is the right swap.
Be easier to just increase the displacement from 3.7 to 4.0. No need for an engine swap. Then you have a proper 400Z.
Something tells me that an engine swap would be easier than tearing apart and engine, increasing the displacement, and then boosting it
They actually made a VQ40 but it's only for SUV's and trucks, we don't want that thing on the Z! The VR30 is the best option and it brings back the Z to it's twin turbo past, much better
Better just to put a turbo kit on a VHR tbh, theyve been proven to be able to take some high power on the stock block.
There's a guy on TH-cam who did the vr30ddtt swap in his 370z in an apartment parking lot. It's tuned and 6 speed as well
There is a guy in Austin TX with the same car is Yella with VR30DDTT stenciled on the doors
400Z drops. VR parts increases by 10x.
This leads to:
Q50/Q60 resale value increases because some people will start to want a VR motor in a different body style.
@@BigHeadClan I'm not saying Z's value is bad. I'm saying the Z will help the Q's value.
hi David. nice vid. liked b4 watching b/c I knew it was goin to be good
This is what I was thinking people would do, in my opinion the 370z looks better since it doesn’t go retro
How reliable are these motors ? My buddy has a red sport and it’s been in the shop 3 times already. Turbos failed. Other things going wrong
I've heard the belts suck. But also that everything that's a problem on them can be replaced by aftermarket units that fix the problems.
They should squeeze a supercharged or turbocharged vk5.6 in and do a 560Z
That engine is too big to fit in the bay lol
@@LOVE-VIBES-X-PROJECT-CARS I think he did a video of a car with a supercharged VK5.6 a little while ago
@@LOVE-VIBES-X-PROJECT-CARS th-cam.com/video/yqlnszQxDOI/w-d-xo.html if it’ll fit a 240sx...
@@eugenewilson7555 wasnt that an S14 though and if I remember it didnt have a hood.
I don't think the character of a car changes just changing the motor. Side note the turbo and blowoff valve sounds so nice.
I love the Q trans it shifts fast on my RedSport 👌🏽
In my opinion this is the affordable GTR engine swap. It blew my mind when I saw Chris Forsberg GTR swapped 370z because it's basically putting a race proven engine and as far as I know the vq engines weren't used for racing. On a different subject I forgot how much I these tuning shop videos
Vqs weren't used for racing but the VHR can handle a lot of power, many examples of the stock motor handling 600 to the wheel no problem.
I would take this over the 400 honestly. I love this.
Yea me too i like the 370z styling better
Nah the new z has a way better interior and chassis
Is there any more info on the flywheel works necessary to make this happen?
This car is so awesome! I wish we could see more of it, how is the VR30 in this car? Is there any turbo lag (especially at lower RPMs) with their setup? Thanks!
The side profile on the 400z is way better, but the rest is up in the air.
I literally got a 400z ad for this video 👀
IDK about on a budget. That build cost more than a new Z guaranteed. But I like it.
Got a 06 g35 coupe going to be doing a set of race seats and bc coilovers when they're back in stock already planned on buying from z1 but seeing a cool car like that glad to support z1
Did it overheat during your test drive or did they mention any overheat issues when they brought it to Atlanta Motor speedway?
I want to see this swap in a 300z
Love the hks blow off valve too
Solid video guys 👍 this makes me super excited!
I have a z1 exhaust on my 03 G35. Sounds great.
so where is this adapter/swap kit for the q50 engine to manual trans?
Title says it all really...(Unless David changes it)
Sick! can't decide whether to supercharge my 370 or VR30 swap..
Unless a VR30 just lands in your lap and you're doing it yourself or money wasn't too much of an issue, I would say built/force induce your VQ
this sounds like a very driver fun car pretty cool all you need is 500hp for a track car the key is handling and weight
Does the auto rev match still work?
Sick swap. Ugly but stout engine. Love my Z32 Slicktop. 11x in now. 2nd 2J swap.
Hah yeah not the prettiest thing when you open the hood, cabling also set off my ocd.
Fantastic motor though.
