Taylor go outside, open your garage door 'if you're not there already' stand back in front of the miata. And just look at it Man .. Look what you've done! Its alive again !!! Congrats.
I am so happy for you Taylor dude! Been a ride & a half but damn! LS MX-5! I can’t wait to see you rip in that girl hard! I’m relatively new to your channel, only been following since the Adam LZ open day time, when you blew this car up but you have quickly become my fav USA car channel! You seem to have the same kind of luck I do with cars so I am proper stocked right now! Can’t wait to see her on the track & that!😍👍🏻
To properly seat the rings you should(along with proper oil) bring the RPM up to about 1500 for at least 10min (20min if possible) never idle the engine with fresh rings and hone/bore job. After letting it cool you need bring it back up to operating temp and put a load on the engine achieved by driving or on the dyno. Then, change the oil and do some WOT pulls on the highway if possible. You probably know all of this but thought I'd comment my 1-1/2 cents anyway... Can't wait to see her ripping again, man✌
Uneducated Felon its good info for those who dont know, but usually engines that were tan how they were intended with rebuilds or new seem to have better power than those babied and never opened up
Ive never built a engine but have general understanding as my vette engine we got rebuilt wish we would have just bought a crate engine with more hp, thats my plan one day or a used ls7 or so
@@AllaboutTheWoodrows in no way did I suggest babying it... you just want to get it to operating temp and idle it up on first startup then road test it and put some load on it. Then from there it's wide open throttle (WOT) pulls. This is all done within the first day of the engine running
Dude, who wouldn’t feel high after so many hours of work sleepless nights worries and then hear it start and run, cut Taylor so slack, he has worked hard for this day, I’m truly happy for you Taylor, when are you going to tell us if you’re moving back cuz never see much of your girl friend but she was kind enough to let me know she was still in the background.
Those 90° connections with a longer curve compared to a regular, are called a "sweeping 90" in plumbing. They're good because it's less likely to create blockages or be damaged by pressure flowing through it separting it from the tube/pipe.
Woooohoooo! That engine sounds so sweeeet. I remember you thought the swap would be 2 months maybe three. It's taken a bit longer but so, so totally worth it when you look at what you've accomplished. Keep on kicken it Taylor. Also, I love the idea of the Camaro 6 in Ben's Miata. I might have to do that with mine.
Literally just fired up my 1970 ss chevelle with lsx swap also! I totally got the same feeling on first start up as you did, friggn liberating to see something you put so much time into finally come alive. Hope to cross paths soon as i live in central fl also
Sweeeet. If you ever have issues again priming something and don’t want to gravity feed, you can put a little compressed air pressure on the tank(clean rag or your hand over fill) and it’ll push fluid to the pump or wherever you need it.
Really liked the idea of Ben running a v6 in his miata. I've seen a couple of people do that swap on YT (Jag v6 and then Camero v6) and it really seems like a great balance in between turbo 4 cylinder and v-8.
While it's a ready to go reservoir tank, I still think you could have made your own custom oil tank in the passenger side of the engine bay to shorten the lines and keep everything in the engine bay. Very siked to see her running..it's been a long time waiting but doing it right...is the way to go. Will be cool to see how she does on the FIRM course as well....ripping it no doubt.
One thing...id make sure the oil lines are covered in vehicle all the way. Ya know incase one bursts..but helllllll yeah! So stoked for ya man! Cant wait for more content!
Great job on getting the car going again can't wait to see it back on the road killing tires! And I was sitting here thinking Ben should put a turbo rotory in his miata!!
you're actually supposed to drive it on regular conventional oil for the first 30-50 miles. (If you didn't do that, it's not a huge deal but try to follow the rest that's stated) it's best to try and always be in a state of constantly changing between strong vacuum/medium-high load, vacuum, medium high load, accelerate, decel, etc. up and down up and down. Not cruise or leave it at 1500.. And after that 30-50 miles of doing that, you should be good. That process is the best method to seat in rings - Flyin'Miata Start with low loads, and continue to increase in higher n higher loads towards the end of the 30 to 50 miles of doing that or so. Don't feel afraid to be going up to 4-6k either (not sure what your rev limiter is). It's heat and friction and load and vacuum that breaks it in! You don't need to bounce off rev limiter tho, that's not going to make it any better than doing it the normal way. Don't rush the process yet don't over baby it either. 1) Empty oil after first start up (first idle to operate temp) , change and inspect oil filter. (removes dirt and debris from the assembly as well as assembly-lube) 2) Refill with conventional and do the breakin process described above. Seats the rings properly and fast. 3) Empty and refill with your favorite choice of premium motor (ENGINE!! ;)) oil, and let er rip!! Finished - But normally by this time, you're still going easy on the clutch break in period. Roughly 3 full tanks of gas of moderate driving loads. Cept u didn't do a clutch replacement so you're ganna be good the moment u seat the rings! ps I forgot the conventional oil when I did it, I went straight to semi synthetic for the first start up and full synth for the break in and it didn't even matter.. 15k miles, 10k of which boosted and still great compression. 187psi across :))
Making decisions like getting better like and fittings is hard to do to send the others back but I’m glad your patient. Your build will be sweet, worth the wait.
Dude Ben should totally do a Ford v6 swap! And keep the Ford Mazda partnership alive!!! And then possibly very easily eco boost it later on down the road! I had a work truck that was a 2017 f150 and I honestly thought that it had a v8 till I realized it redlined at seven Grand. Then popped the hood and saw it was a six.. 3.5 I believe at that. but man did it have so much fn power and torque! That thing would haul so much fn ass for real! I've never had a v6 that impressed me as much as that one did! Seriously!.. and I pulled a full size box trailer loaded full of golf carts with ease! All the way from fripp island in Beaufort SC roughly 200 miles to Greenville SC on one tank of gas. Sometimes I'd forget I had a trailer behind me.. literally have never had a v6 that I was that happy with! I couldn't imagine if it was ecoboosted omg!.. And the mustangs have the 3.7 that easily push right over 300 n/a stock I believe. Also it had sport mode, tow, and economy which was great on gas for the size of the truck. Could get about 25 on average in town if I wasn't dogging the hell out of it out. Cause hey work truck lol.. but anyway.. that would be such a dope swap! One that I've dreamed about doing for a while!!!
Good idea would be to vent BOTH valve covers to suck out blow by that will accumulate in both valve covers. Just put a tee fitting over the passenger side valve cover, you're engine will love it.
She sounds great, Taylor. Can't wait to see her sliding off track into the mud. Vacuum is measured in inHg. Inches of Mercury. It's based on how far the vacuum would pull mercury up a graduated cylinder.
Im liking how much this car has come along I remember your video along time ago with just testing ebay pipes now look what you got lol pretty cool seeing it come this far i hope to build my channel like this one day just work too much for not enough these days haha
CONGRATULATIONS! Vacuum inches is inches of mercury. Why not try a twin turbo eco-boost in Ben's Miata? Good enough for the Ford GT. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
Everything's looking awesome. Congrats on the rebuild guys!! How much more oil is in the system now, in comparison to the regular oil pan setup? And when more oil, will the engine warm up be much longer now? Dutch regards.
If I lived in the states the lfx swap is definitely the one I would go for! Kostas car - one lap heroes - looks pretty epic now that he has it running.
Hey, I know its a dumb question but can someone explain why you need to add the hose from the valve cover to the oil tank since the dry sump is pulling a vacuum in the cranksace and
The funny thing is I've got cheap AN hose that was great, tight radiuses with no issues. Then I've got garbage for the same price. Seems to be very hit or miss.

Please video the LFX swap!! That's the swap I want to do!! We want pricing detail and all of that just like the LS swap.
As soon as he mentioned it I had to look it up and then I went on like a 30 min tangent on the LFX and LGX engines and swaps.
@@802Garage definitely. I know it's Ben's car but the people want to see that.

your going back on the road course to beat Tommy's time right
Sounds way better with the new resonator, it's a much cleaner sound.
still sounded loud as freaking fuhh lolol

McFarland Machining are going through engines well, Ruby 3.0 coming soon. Great to see her start with lots of oil pressure.
Don't finx it oil pressure might drop on this engine as well 😂😂

WAY TO GO BROTHER! Nothing better than seeing a good old fashion WIN!
Went the accusump route instead of dry sump. Just recently had my first start up with it and know exactly how you feel! Just on a budget lol. HYPE!

Shouldn't have any blow by being that its NA and rings are gapped tight
Congrats brother. I'm hyped to see this beast hits the track
Great work Taylor, stoked to see your hard work paying off
Some straight fittings in those hard lines will help getting them off if you need to pull the motor.
Use a old coolant line to go around an protect lines
That was the best first start of a new built engine I've heard in a long time
Oh man! LFX for Ben's car sounds rad!
You’re a god Taylor ALWAYS KILLING THE GAME!!!!
Yeeesssssss!!!!!! Sounds soooooo good!! I think it sounds healthier than the old v8, that and the resonator 👌👍

@14:49 intoxicating excitement . @ 14:55 vin sneezing sounds like a blow off valve, gonna have to start saying god bless you to cars now.
Congrats man!!!!! Started RIGUUHTT UPPP
Now it's going to be super fun to paint that damn trunk. GG.

AWESOME, MAN! I'M AS PUMPED AS YOU! WELL DONE! GREAT ACHIEVEMENT! All the best, Rob in Switzerland
Wow that was a smooth first fireup.👍
Stoked! She sounds good!
This is awesome, just seeing how excited you are makes the whole build worth it. Are you going to go to McFarland Tuning to have a tune put on it?
Can't wait to see this thing rip at Spring Break Bash. If you want to review another E46 M3, I'll have one available there.
Congrats man! I've been waiting to hear this thing fire up!
CONGRATULATIONS!
Vacuum inches is inches of mercury.
Why not try a twin turbo eco-boost in Ben's Miata? Good enough for the Ford GT.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
It started so well because of Cleetus' Machine work. Best dingle berry hone east of the Mississippi
Looks like a moonshine still rig in the rear 😄

Good shit Taylor! Can't wait to see the first rip and skids!
Hel yeah!! pls don't blow this time. And sounds way better in my opinion
Sick mate great to see it going again
If I lived in the states the lfx swap is definitely the one I would go for! Kostas car - one lap heroes - looks pretty epic now that he has it running.
LSA SUPERCHARGER STAT!
So sick! Hype for tomorrow’s vid! 🤙
Packing the oil pump with petrolium jelly can help to get the oil moving, it's an old trick but seems to work.
Super nice swap 10/10. Enjoying the Miata content :)
Awesome work man! Very exciting.

So HYPED! Since you order so much online, and now need 10(?) qts oil, have you seen the Project Farm test on Amazon Basics Synthetic Oil vs Mobil 1?
Awesome work you guys. The LS is going RIP its ass off.
I'm all about the #BARRATHEWORLD Life . . .
But I'm psyched for this build !
Can't wait to see the shakedown 🤙🏾🤙🏾
YEWL good stuff mate !
One thing id recommend is always blowing out freshly cut lines with compressed air, would hate to ruin a new build with debris from a line
HAPPY BIRTHDAY🍰🎁🎂🎈🎉
Gonna be interesting to CHANGE the oil in that octopus.
GREAT JOB ON THAT REBUILD! GONNA BE WICKED!
Have you and Ben thought about making a attic in the shop. You could put body panels up there to save floor space
dude really digging the the music
I want an ls miata so bad. I love this car
That sound coming from a Miata is balls.
Good stuff Taylor!
HELL YEA IT WORKS!!!!!! “BLESS YOU” 😂❤️
4:30 would crows feet help? also when are you going to the hoonigan yard?
Now we can take the rollercoaster to get coffee😍
Hyped man good job!
Hell yeah ! Hope i see this beast at pbir one day
Well done Taylor iam happy for you 👍👍👍👍👍
Congrats Taylor!

I watch Taylor Ray’s videos, and eat snacks.
Awesome, man!
congratulations!
What is name/type of the blue tape?
Good shit bro!
Never clicked so fast!
Anybody else feel the same anxiety that Taylor must feel about possibly blowing this motor at its first event again? I’m super excited that your almost done. 👍
Can't wait!!! To see that thing sideways again man.
It sounds better with the resonator IMO
V8's sound so good.
Ayy I seen you driving it in town the other night car sounds mean
You need to look at aroflow from Australia
can't like enough, what a result
So in one of Adams video he mentioned you moving back to Orlando ? Already leaving the house and new garage ?
