The doctors literally doing a "We'll cut out what we can and just kinda squeeze the rest back in there" and just shrugging off the evil brain parasite is one of the funniest things I've seen
I think just watching the Kill Count (I don't like horror movies, but I do like James' breakdown of them), the plot twist that the protagonist and the monster are the same person is fairly obvious.
The movement choreography for a killer piloting a body backwards is probably one of the most creative things ive seen in movie media. makes my skin crawl looking at it, and it gets more intense when it was revealed that a living tumor was the killer. I don't have the attetion span for movies so i try and support this channel whenever i can. Good stuff Deadmeat
You put to words the reason I could never word for WHY I like this movie so much. The stunt people for this movie are just incredible, my only regret is that I could never watch this for the first time in a theater.
Thank you to the dead meat team for working around these copyright claims to give us these amazing kill counts. Thank you James and the dead meat team, you guys are amazing!!
These might be some of my favorite lines from any kill count episode! "Gabriel is the Natural Born Killer," "While Samara is Weaving," and "Dodging bullets like he's The One." There's plenty more good ones, but this is some of my favorite writing in the show ever. Extra props to the writers of the script for this video.
I kind of love how this movie is kind of a superhero/supervillian movie sometimes with the secret identities, powers, costumes, and even a hidden lair that fits the character
I mean, they’d have to, right? Absolutely no way she doesn’t go to either prison or a psychiatric ward for all the people Gabriel killed. And either of those options are a hell of a stress test for Gabriel to resurface
when I was watching this movie, I said to myself "this is like a Basket Case situation" right before Gabriel was revealed in the tapes, and then "wow, this literally is Basket Case" great hints leading up to it like the initial "cancer" line, which feels figurative until the reveal that it was meant very literally and that's one of the things I love about this movie - things that would normally have non-literal meanings instead mean exactly what's being said - when Maddy says "it's all in my head," that's true in both the expected sense (Gabriel was making her have hallucinations) and the physical sense - he actually lived inside her skull
I used to work at my local theater last year so I was able to watch it with my cousin thanks to my employee perks. We were gasping and laughing the entire time and when Gabriel revealed himself, I remember yelling out 'put that thing back in there!' It was a wild ride from start to finish; definitely one of Wan's best👌
I can only imagine how stressful and annoying dealing with all these issues over the past few weeks. Thank you dead meat for putting out top tier content every week.
Ray Chase did an amazing job doing the voice of Gabriel! He really does have a range of talent, whether he’s playing a horror figure or Prince Noctis in FFXV. Major creds to him!
The sponsor skit was honestly one of the smartest things ever , instead of just saying the product and how good it is you brought us in , made it entertaining and that’s why I love you and the amount of effort y’all put into this
People said they didn’t like Malignant because of the cheese which means a James Wan succeeded in his goal! This was for me THE best horror film from top to bottom last year. From the cheesy background music, over the top acting, strong plot line, gore, perfectly executed plot twist that we already figured out before it was revealed but was still shook- it had it all! If there was a sequel I would absolutely be down to see it.
Since it’s release, this film is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite horror films. There is so much to be said about executing your vision and taking it seriously despite how silly others may feel it is. I absolutely love this film and feel it will age like wine.
This movie was like a blast of the 80's-90's with a fresh crispness. Cheese like a Philadelphia cheese steak, campy like the Evil Dead, absolute stupid yet brilliant, AND CAN WE SHALL NEVER FORGET THAT CHAIR THROW. THE MOST EPIC CHAIR THROW EVER.
I hated how horror fans argued over what MALIGNANT was suppose to be without just ENJOYING the movie. It’s multiple things: a detective film like SAW, a slasher like Nightmare on Elm Street, and a supernatural medical like The Beast Within. It’s colorful as much as it is dark and flashy. It’s atmospheric and fast at all the right moments. It KNOWS it’s campy and leans purposefully into it.
i must say, the production value of the ad breaks are not only impressive but it also makes me feel really good, you genuinely care about your audience and it definitely shows
Instantly one of my favorite horror movies. This one is a blast. Had no clue just how much of the effects were practical, but it makes sense. You can really tell all the effort and work that went into it.

I will say though, it made the James Wan giant big house really stand out to me. It struck me as odd that the main character lived in a two million dollar house and it just never came up.
the production value of the kill count lately is just insane. i've been watching this channel religiously since 2018 and seeing y'all's growth from what was already a kick ass channel is surreal.
Ray is such a sweetheart. I met him at a con a couple years before Malignant happened, and it was one of the most heartwarming interactions I've had with a voice actor. So happy to see him getting to lend his amazing vocals to such a memorable character. Gabriel gave me chills when I saw this movie, and a big part of that is because of Ray. I'm so glad you guys are friends!
This movie blew me away last year! Saw it in theaters and once that scene where we saw Gabriel on McKenna's back, I was like "What the heck am I watching right now? And why is it so awesome?" Lol. Great review James & crew. Also happy to have Ray back doing the voice near the end.
I love this movie. It's so damn silly and it knows it, but still plays everything 100% straight. I haven't had as much fun with a horror movie in a while.
Seeing this opening weekend with a full house was one of the best experiences I've had in a movie theatre ever just a wild and fun ride from start to finish. As a big Giallo fan it was really a treat.
Malignant was such an amazingly enjoyable ride. Its one of the very few movies I wish i could completely forget, so that I could experience it for the first time again. Wan truly outdid himself with the movie, glad so many people enjoy it
The fact that Ray voices Alfonse, the main character in Fire Emblem Heroes (and my personal favourite character), and that Chelsea is now in the game as Isadora, just makes me think that this the most perfect full circle on Dead Meat.
I was crying with laughter when I watched this in the theatre, one of the best cinema experiences I have ever had. Thanks for the Kill Count, it was so much fun.
Didn't realize this was a dual release--I watched it on HBO on release weekend, and have sold it to friends as a must watch. Some of those friends no longer talk to me, but that's okay.
I love this movie, especially the last action scene, the movements and the shots were incredible! I also lost a lung during the scene at 7:55 as, if I remember correctly, Madison firstly reacted like: "The hell are you doing in my house?" before finding herself in doc's home and I just found funny to react like that while someone appears screaming while you want to wash the clothes.
The scene of the lady falling through the ceiling right into the previous scene when we the audience assume they had cut to a new location was beautiful
Just wanted to say how much myself and all your other fans appreciate all your hardwork, dedication, and research that goes into all your kill counts, especially when you have to deal with all the copyright BS. You're easily my favorite channel on TH-cam.
I wanna see a campy TV series about this movie. Imagine Madison trying to control Gabriel, Gabriel wanting to have the life he never had, and Sydney never using a door, but choosing to enter a house via the window.
And yes, 'Basket Case' is amazing. Particularly that song-and-dance number from the 2nd one, and the way that female reporter died at the end of the 2nd one.. THAT was creative!
I had no idea this was Ray Chase. The man is a legend -- he can voice anything from the Prince of Lucis in Final Fantasy XV to a crazy murderer in Malignant. Omg.
24:58 I love the bit here, not many movies go through the explanation of how exactly these phenomenons work and I always loved the times when people make bits off of that.
I’ve been waiting to see this one! So cool to see how you’ve developed over the years, James and the dead meat team, but your narration is just as entertaining as it’s always been
At 19:45 im pretty sure it was a reference to another movie she'd been in, called Death Proof where she's one if the main characters in the second half. If so, i love the fact that that was snuck in for people who recognise her.
"Should have left that friend at Foster's." This script is so well-written, this week, but this made me nearly choke on my dinner from laughing! Very clever!
I did what you said. I paused the kill count, pulled up HBO Max and watched the movie. The "twists" were SO telegraphed I clocked them right away, but I'm still glad I watched it first so I could witness all the absurdity unspoiled before the kill count. And quite the body count on this one, damn!! James Wan hasn't lost his touch~
19:22 So, Ray Chase voices Gabriel, who sort of acts vaguely like an alternate personality, and he killed a person by punching through her chest. Is that a Golden Wind reference? (Main villain has a split personality, and a Ray Chase-voiced character gets “donuted” in a similar way)
@19:55 I always thought the bash against the bars just knocked him out. The process of hollowing him out and turning him into a puppet is what killed him
Catching up on random Kill Counts and was delighted to see in this crazy movie and double delighted with the multiple references to Chicago in the Cell Block fight sequence and then seeing BattleBots legend Mark Setrakian involved in this. The Kill Count team finds a way to (Samara) weave in so many clever and quick jokes and references that span such a wide swath of pop culture, it’s a work of art and a labor of love.
If I had a nickel for every time Ray Chase voiced an entity sharing a body with the protagonist, had a guttural voice, and was all about the murder… I’d have two nickels, but it’s funny that it happened twice.
I am so impressed by the smallest references you manage to sneak in. How you made the reference to Megatron's birth name from Family Guy because everyone assumed it was Megan was immaculated, so impressed!
AAA i'm so glad you finally covered my favorite movie!! It's such a cheesy, encapturing ride, and the practical effect on Gabriel blows my mind Every time I see it! Amnd I cant believe you got the voice actor in!! That's so exciting!!!
First movie with 46 victims is so random. I'm tickled and I appreciate that the team decided to permanently include the stats at the ends (i.e. more work) so that we could observe it. Thanks guys.
One of my first horror movies was The Conjuring. I immediately fell in love with the horror genre after that, and now I have every Conjuring movie and spin-off that's come out. I love it.
When I sat my family down to watch Malignant I told them it was made by James Wan since we’re all fans of The conjuring and afterwards I could tell they weren’t too fond of it 😅 they kept asking “THIS is the guy that made the conjuring? Wack” but everything they disliked happened to be everything I loved about this movie! It’s wacky, exaggerated and fun. also OH MY GOD THE POLICE STATION SCENE like how could you not see how dope it is!! Hope James Wan can make more movies like this 😁😁
I had a similar experience I even had people tell me they enjoy Halloween more than this movie which was completely baffling to me, but I guess that’s the standard consumer for you
We love you Dead Meat Team!! So glad this kill count has been able to stay up 🥰 just ordered my final girl sweater, it looks so cozy - also I can't explain how much I love Chelsea's "I like the way it smells" while looking into the camera

I had no idea this was Ray Chase. The man is a legend -- he can voice anything from the Prince of Lucis in Final Fantasy XV to a crazy murderer in Malignant. Omg.

I love the bit here, not many movies go through the explanation of how exactly these phenomenons work and I always loved the times when people make bits off of that.
I’ve been waiting to see this one! So cool to see how you’ve developed over the years, James and the dead meat team, but your narration is just as entertaining as it’s always been
I love that Chelsea and the Dead meat team are being involved in sponsors. It's great
At 19:45 im pretty sure it was a reference to another movie she'd been in, called Death Proof where she's one if the main characters in the second half. If so, i love the fact that that was snuck in for people who recognise her.
I'm afraid of watching horror movies so I've been watching them on your channel for the last few years. Thank you all!
James’s references are second to none. Love the nod to 2011’s “The Killing” at 8:20.
14:08 anybody notice how clean that transition was?
19:22 So, Ray Chase voices Gabriel, who sort of acts vaguely like an alternate personality, and he killed a person by punching through her chest. Is that a Golden Wind reference? (Main villain has a split personality, and a Ray Chase-voiced character gets “donuted” in a similar way)
Maybe Bucciarati's spirit wanted to have a revenge
Also voices Sukuna for another split personality
I’m really glad that y’all were able to get this video out without to much of an issue with copyright.

Don't jinx it!
Unfortunately, the explicit version for Patreon got taken down for copyright.
The contortionists are incredible and did amazing! It must be difficult to move backgrounds while still looking somewhat human
@19:55 I always thought the bash against the bars just knocked him out. The process of hollowing him out and turning him into a puppet is what killed him
I had this fully spoiled and still had an absolute blast with this film. Just an all round fun horror film.
Ray is such a kind soul for appearing again for this, been waiting for this kill count for AGES ❤
If I had a nickel for every time Ray Chase voiced an entity sharing a body with the protagonist, had a guttural voice, and was all about the murder… I’d have two nickels, but it’s funny that it happened twice.
I’m so glad you were able to release this Kill Count! This was one of the many great horror movies released recently
14:58 Madison: *in a younger voice* NO IT WASNT ME IT WAS GABRIEL!!
The references in the kill counts are always top notch, keep up the awesome work!
I love that despite the insane bodycount, all the protagonists make it out alive.
Hope James Wan can make more movies like this 😁😁
Can't believe they didn't like it like what it was so amazing
I had a similar experience I even had people tell me they enjoy Halloween more than this movie which was completely baffling to me, but I guess that’s the standard consumer for you
Really dope scene 👍
I’m still flabbergasted at how they made Gabriel badass and yet known that much. I’d love to see him fight some horror icons.
We love you Dead Meat Team!! So glad this kill count has been able to stay up 🥰 just ordered my final girl sweater, it looks so cozy - also I can't explain how much I love Chelsea's "I like the way it smells" while looking into the camera
James, you are literally one of the very few TH-camrs I actually trust and respect personally 😂😂 and man when you had that spoiler warning I could see it In Your eyes and face how serious you’re inquiry was. And man holy shit this was amazing!!!!
Not many times I stop watching a killcount to watch the movie first but I thoroughly enjoyed doing so last night! Thanks for a great movie suggestion!
I don't get why this isn't more popular? This was epic!
Did NOT expect to see Ray Chase featured here!! I love his work from Final Fantasy XV and Jujutsu Kaisen so much holyyyy
13:49 Someone needs to sync this jump up with Matthew McConaughey's scream while he jumps in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.
3:02 - "A Command and Conquer" cutscene...Brilliant!
I love that sequence of Gabriel jumping around in the Police Office.
