Is it just me but does anyone else hear a little crossover into country music. Just a tad bit? Maybe that’s what Southern Rock is. Metal Country music mixed with a smidge of blues? Results, the best type of music ever. If I’m nuts for saying that, then tell me. I can take it. 😊
This song brings back some great memorys' I remember picking up my girl back in the 80's and i had the cassette player i always had this song ready before she got in my deuce and a quarter car thats a 1978 Buick Electra 225 incase someone didnt know big ass 455 motor in it my old man gave it to me i will never forget that day.

I was a student at Va Tech when the original Special Forces Tour occurred in 1982-1983 and they played as out homecoming concert during my senior year at Cassell Coliseum. The thing that I remember most about this concert was during this show how Donnie ran through the Coliseum and sang a number of the big hits. There was a picture of him on the top of the rafters on a high walkway singing Rockin into the Night.

Possibly, the classic radio stations could play this song once in a while instead of "hold on loosely," which I have now heard over "a zillion" times since 1981.
I wish that there was a video of this song when they were all young and with the 2 drummers. Such a powerful soul filling song this is. A song that HAS to be played loud!!! Thanks guys. Ya bring back the good ole days.
I finally get to see .38 Special again May 22 or 23. Donnie sure will be missed, but I can't wait to be sitting on the front row soaking this up! It's been a great ride from the 70's up until today!
Can remember like yesterday when that LP came out and listening to this very song over and over, I still love it all these decades later. It is so cool how these guys play their songs so true to the studio version, look all over TH-cam and you will hear their live shows are so close to the original recording, it takes discipline to do that over and over for 30+ years and still nail it down. Most bands get bored and change it all up and IMHO crap all over the original that we all originally fell in love with. Great job fellas.

yes melody they are VERY cool. I have seen em twice in person. they are a hard driven band. larry junstrom(bass) is one of my top three bass players. Getty Lee,,,,,and Mike Anthony are my other two. Larry creates the big deep bass sound for them which is AWESOME!!!!
I can't believe some of the crowd isn't all in to this epic song. But then you see how some of the folks really get it and are appreciating every second of it. Some realize how great it was but it's over by then. This is very good quality video.
I agree! Chain Lightning is sacred to me. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear Don sing it live. I lose myself in this song while other idiots are trying to record it with their cameras.
I seen this band at Merriweather post pavilion in Columbia , MD back in the late eighties!! This song was great with the flood lights coming up during the "chain lighting".. It was awesome!!
What a superb job of recording and uploading. Really appreciate the front-row seat you gave me for a great band from the heartland. Spent my first 28 years living near Lima and and most weekends in the early '70s included a night at Yogi's to hear two great cover bands named after birds: Canary and Magpie. Canary did a drop-dead gorgeous version of Neil Young's "Down By the River," and Magpie did a perfect cover of The Allman Brothers "Ramblin' Man." Wish they were on TH-cam.

Donnie, Jeff Carlisle and donnie vanzant had a surefire recipe for southern rock. Sorry to hear about donnie's inter ear infection. This band has always been on top of it's game.
