Collins just casually walks up the stage in front of a huge crowd, sets his capo at the right fret and proceeds to play a killer solo in middle of a song that is not a standard of his repetoire. Forever legend.

Incredible isn't it? In terms of gigging musicians, there's really nobody like them. They do somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 shows a year. Three hundred!!! And they've been doing that for DECADES. The passion they have for the music, their fans, and the crowd is unparalleled.

I was 17 and in that crowd, just graduated high school, the summer before college. If I remember correctly, George was a surprise as he wasn’t on the promotional list of the performers. We were big George fans too, so this was a bonus for sure. Plus Albert Collins to boot. We played a lot of pool in those days, so we loved his Bad to the Bone video of course. Imagine working your ass off for years in small venues, finally being asked to open for the Rolling Stones, and having Charlie Watts walk up and ask you for your autograph!

Oh I admit Prince is and always be Hall of Fame caliber but at this time early mid eighties Prince was a total unknown and crowd didn't give him a chance in other words narrow minded, plus this concert lineup was all 80's rock, ya looking back I could have been witness to Prince's breakout performance.

I have seen George 7 times and enjoyed every bit of every concert. My first time to see him was February 1988, he was badass on stage. The most recent time was in Troy, Ohio on September 12, 2021.
He can still get amazing sounds out of a guitar with or without a slide.

As "R S" stated 3 years ago; along with Queen, George was the best performer of the concert. That is a gross misunderstatement. Hell yes it was!

George OWNS that song because he does it so well. I enjoy how the announcer somewhere enthusiastically yells "THOROGOOD!" at the end.

If I had to be at one concert..Thorogood amazing . Stones Still Life. Not too far off from their peak Nicky Hopkins 70s. And Journey in 81 just a few years removed from Roy Thomas Baker. I saw some great shows..but that one would be hard to top.
