You know why your video is the BEST? Besides is simple and straight, you show us exactly which spray you are using!!! I have been watching dozens, trying to figure out what spray to clean the o2 sensor, and they all cover the can whit their hand and didn’t mention what cleaner is. Big Thanks for your video!!!
Yeah any cleaner would work here as long as it evaporates immediately. Thank u!!

Thanks RB for the advice. My 07 frontier gave a p0430 code, so I decided to spray clean the o2 sensors with carb cleaner. After clearing the P0430 code with a scanner and driving for about 20 miles, my Check engine light stayed off and all my I/M readiness monitors are ready!
Oh ok I mean p0420
@@RBTheMechanic Whoops! Unfortunately the P0430 code came back after all. Does this mean I need to replace my Catalytic Converters after all? I can try replacing the O2 sensors, but I don't think that will solve the P0430 issue.
@davidguzman7472 yup , p0430 is bank 2 , basically the downstream 02 sensor is working correctly and telling you that the converter is inefficient and time for a new one.

What strikes me is that you said in the video that you weren't re-using either of those 2 sensors... so, that doesn't inspire much confidence that this actually works IMHO. I mean, I'd be much more impressed if you were to clean AND re-install those 2 sensors back into their respective vehicles and showed that it actually did something positive... lol! Just saying.... ;-)

You're the only one I encounter that describes o2 sensor acts like a nose. Exactly as it should.
Yup
Hi, very informative video and I subscribed aswell. My vehicle Nissan Quest 2009 3.5S V6. I'm in a weird situation, my car has the check engine light on, I went to USA's famous auto shop to do the check engine diagnose and PO171 code came up means Bank 1 too lean.
Went to another car garage for another opinion and i was told PO171 can mean a lot of problems within the car like, all the inlet and outlet sensors, spark plugs too.
Both of the above gave me different answers and big quotations.
First my vehicle in city gave me 19 miles per gallon and on highway 23 miles per gallon. Now its giving me only 10 miles per gallon, but there is no bad smell from exhaust. I'm driving the car and thats why I know what this car is doing, taking high RPMs, changing gear a little late then it used to. The second garage owner told me my car is jammed running so he did changed all wheel disks with bearings, break pads, both front excels and control arms, but the car was still using up a lot of fuel and other light of tire air pressures is still on.
I watched your video with interest and also read the comments. I saw your email address too. Please can you suggest what should I do? Can you briefly explain that would help me a lot. And if you want to email me this is my email (peacelover704@gmail.com).
I can’t email you buddies but this is good here ok first hung first yes this code mean it can be lots of things.... what u would do is change out the air first and clean out maf sensor to begin with it can also be vaccine leaking. Check the duct pipe for cracks or loose vacuum lines try this first and after that reset the light it things get better and light don’t come on ur good! Next step I would recommend replacing the oxygen sensors
Lean is very complicated code and it can be simple as u have vacuum leak it can be surety maf sensor or bad maf sensor or oxygen sensor before anything you must check for vaccume leaks for cracked pipes broken or loose pipes
Thanks for your knowledge, I was about to buy O2 sensor.
Robivan Romero no problem 👍

Just a bit of counterpoint. The 02 sensor operates in an environment in excess of 600 deg C and above. As such, it makes me wonder what kind of contaminant produced by an ICE will stay attached to the probe inside the protective cage. Additionally, wouldn't you think that for any crud to stay attached to the probe in the upper temp ra

to my surprise when I take a look at my motorcycle o2 sensor it was clean! I think the heat is burning all the carbon buildup, unless if it runs a lil bit rich. but still I spray it with carb cleaner just in case.

Having some problems with one of three things. I have to replace or clean the o2 sensor, clean the intake by hand, or replace the catalytic converter. Going to try your fix first.
Clean sensor first
Don't forget to reset adaptions.
Thanks for the vid! I don't mean to doubt, but are you sure brake cleaner (that you mentioned) can be used to clean O2 sensors? I heard/read that brake cleaner would do damage to the sensors. The stuff you used is different from the brake cleaner, though. Will carb cleaner do it? Thanks!
Found the below on the net. Search for "Can carb cleaner be used to clean oxygen sensor?". I didn't know that WD-40 can be used. I got some carb cleaner, and looks like that will do!
Step 1: Prepare tools
The tools needed to clean the oxygen sensor include:
Wrench for disassembling the oxygen sensor.
WD-40, gasoline, or carburetor cleaners are the solutions to help remove and clean the oxygen sensor effectively.
Soft brush to remove “stubborn” dirt.
Soft towel: dry the sensor after cleaning.
In addition, you should also prepare extra gloves and glasses to avoid getting stuck with gasoline and cleaning solutions.
Yea I have used it but if u want use crc

I used Cataclean. Just poured it in the tank and the next day; no engine light next day. The reason I didn't pull the sensor was because it was on a 2011 Ford Edge and it was mounted between the engine and firewall. If it comes on again, I'll just pull it and clean it.

).
agriperma yeah it will defiantly help
no you dont want to put throttle body cleaner in the MAF, only use maf cleaner
I agree...for the MAF sensor, because the MAF sensor is delicate and can't be scrubbed. He is using this on o2 sensors though, so what would you suggest using on them instead of replacing all of them?
Do I have to wait a certain amount of time before I put it back in the car once I clean it?
Justin Cofer this cleaner evaporates immediately by the time u put it back and complet the installation it should b all dry
That was the whole reason I watched this in the first place thanks for asking
great question. i was just gonna ask. thank you.
If your worried about it being wet go over it gently with an air compressor
Pretty sure that stuff will destroy a MAF sensor. CRC makes a different product for that.
Don’t think so
If you have a 4 wire O2 sensor and the heater in it is out no amount of cleaning will fix it. But this can work if it's just dirty.
Yes if electric trouble short in sensor cleaning will not work
How can u tell if its just dirty or there is electrical issues

Let them dry for at least 20 to 30 mins and then you can place them back in the exhaust
@@joshualowery3452 Thank you! Appreciate your answers
@@joshualowery3452 so if O2 sensors are bad do it make the black sludge come out I had the codes read an it said bank one an 2 is bad
@@jaylovechilds2066 sounds like an issue coming from somewhere else. Bad o2s won't sludge. Its 600° exhaust flowing past them, so when you pull them out it's burnt carbon build up which just looks like ash.
If it looks like ash, use brake cleaner and a wire brush to clean off and reinstall
If you have a turbo charged engine I would look at the turbo first, see if oil is leaking past seals and into the exhaust.
Don't forget to put anti- seize on o2 sensor before installing.
Or you'll never be able to remove it again.

This video is obviously a practical joke. The guy in the video mangling those two broken sensors should have said so.
You can’t clean an O2 sensor - you have to replace it with a new one that is OEM for your specific vehicle. O2 sensors are often difficult to remove & require a quality O2 sensor removal wrench, lubrication, heat, and a good deal of patience, to avoid stripping the potentially corroded threads.
If you’re going to go through the time & trouble of removing a bad O2 sensor, you might as well put a brand new OEM sensor back in. There’s no alternative.
in some car cases the oxygen sensor is very difficult to remove and some times it gets damaged how ever I do not disagree with this but on the other hand there are some car that you can get to oxygen sensor very easly such as Toyota sienna bank 1 sensor 1 is on top and you don't even have to lift the car same with Nissan sentra Honda civic Honda accord have it right in front top on 2013 and up models but this is great comment by you if your cars oxygen sensor is very difficult or gets damaged or if you have to heat it out might as well replace it
