Since 2005 it was mandatory for all new cars to be equipped with ABS (EU requirements). I had the same Polo 1.4TDI 2004, no ABS as well. I drove it up to 450 000km, 2 years ago, last 1000km included 4 laps in Nurburgring. Now my neighbour is still driving it.
