Couple of things that makes Mike Brown's firing less surprising. 1) he lost 5 games in a row, not 6 (the 6th was under interim head coach Doug Christie - his 1st game). 2) the 5 losses were all at home (0-5 home stretch), and included back-to-back losses to the Lakers, a blowout loss to the then struggling Pacers, and a last-straw collapse against Detroit. 3) the last game Mike Brown won was a 2-point squeaker against the Pelicans. The Pelicans! 4) Inconsistent rotations is one thing- Mike Brown had a very short leash on his young players, like Ellis and Murray, one mistake and yank. 4) in 2022, the first Beam Team year, the Kings played a very fast and loose brand of offense. Last season, Coach Brown added complex schemes to the playbook- which some young, new and role players (e.g. Sasha Vezenkov) were struggling to execute flawlessly. Combine that with short leash, and no wonder players were having the yips. 5) Coach Brown doubled down on introducing more rigid schemes on both offense and defense as he tried to 'cover' DeRozan's defensive liabilities. This may be the initial schism between Front Office/Ownership and Coach Brown. Brown probably wanted Draymond (or Draymond-esque). Got DeRozan instead. 6) Doug Christie since coming in did 2 things: a) simplified the playbook - which allows the team filled with high BBIQ players like Sabonis, Fox, Monk and DeRozan use their skills instead of x's and o's to break down teams. And b) let players out of the doghouse, lifting the mood in the locker room. 6) The roster is built to what Ownership wants - a high-tempo, entertaining product to get on TV more often, because small market teams don't get much noticr otherwise. Coach Brown's schemes went against that. No TV = no exposure = no market value. Coach Brown is a great coach. He just no longer was the right one for this team - from Ownership down to the players. The owners canned him, and maybe GM Monte McNair didn't want to do it (because Brown just signed a contract extension), but Ownership was willing to burn millions to get him out. They must have seen how much more damaging to their investment keeping him was. Consider that.
I totally agree with you. The Beam Team year, the Kings were so fun to watch. Then starting last year and all of this year, their style became more difficult to watch.
Exactly. I was still unsure if we should have kept him or fire him when he got released, but once I heard he had lost some of the guys in the locker room, I knew it was a wrap for him. A lot of people say how can they let go of a coach that was coach of the year just 2 years ago. Simple he was the coach for us then, but he clearly wasn’t the coach for us now. We have new players, different roster with higher goals and expectations, and his style of play wasn’t getting us there. If anything it was making us lose. It’s hard to let go of him, and Sac fans will always remember him fondly, but this and the latter part of last year were rough.
Ellis is very, very smart. He always makes the right play, always diagnoses the moment, anticipates his opponents and teammates. He is maybe the most underrated player in the league rn.
Great video! You are 100% spot-on! Nailed it - you know your stuff! And they're 6-1 now, having beaten Boston IN Boston since your video. Like and Subbed! Oh - and please do something about your lighting, LOL
Im just pissed because I have been screaming into the void for the Sixers to trade for him all season and it legitimately looked possible until these past couple weeks
@@Khaab00 Yeah I mean idk the insight like that but when he was going pretty much unused for months it felt like there was a chance he could get traded. mostly just wishful thinking because I've always thought he was good and he would be the perfect player for the sixers

Honestly, I think Mike Brown is at his best as an assistant coach.
Bingo! Right on the money. Excellent post.

Keon Ellis my goat
But you got a Keegan Murray prof pic???

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Lighting will be fixed at some point down the line lmao

Yeah he would’ve been a great add for philly
@@thesplitcut nice video by the way, did not even realize this came from a small channel. Hope you succeed
@matt4kz thank you brother 🫡
That would have never happened. The owner loves Keon Ellis and his lack of minutes is one of a long list of reasons why Mike Brown was fired.

Great video
Thank you brother 🫡
Keon Ellis aka Sacramento Jesus
playing the best defensive player on a weak defensive team can get you wins??? whaaat??
Who would’ve thought??
I think I know what jersey I’m getting lol
Great video, but all i could look at were your eyes. They're beautiful. As a woman, I'm jealous.
Trade fox start monk at the 1 & Keon at the 2.
You can't trade fox without making his BFF monk miserable
