    The most insane thing about him is the motor on him.. he never gets tired. He can do this for a whole game straight and be the most energized player on the floor. The other day he was in an interview post game (the back to back 2OT game) and he was talking about how he was MORE energized as the game goes on. He's genuinely mental about the game and its almost inhuman what he does.

    good analysis of the defense game but honestly i think you’re underestimating his impact on our offense. when he’s on the floor we play at a higher pace and we make better decisions. he’s not a playmaker per se but he absolutely lubricates the offense and gets us a lot of easy buckets in transition. plus that 3 is really dangerous, especially now when nobody in the league seems to realize it. i was at the bucks blowout last season and i’ve been banging the ellis drum ever since, i am unbelievably thrilled to finally get to see him do the work i knew he could do with the minutes we all knew he deserved

    • @chuckdeuces911
      @chuckdeuces911 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +15

      He lost his job because Fox was being a pre Madonna and holding the franchise hostage with his contract situation. That's the bottom line. DeRozan doesn't fit and that's it. What you don't realize is 95% of what happens on the court is ownership. Teams can change coaches but the play almost never changes. I swear TH-cam will be the downfall of civilization. Keon is a 85th percentile defender which is good but he's negative impact on Offense. He's a 0.7 VORP player which is why he plays as the 6th man or 7th man. His WS/48 is 0.035 over average. Is he a NBA player slightly above average? Yeah but only slightly and he's playing as much as he should.

    So as a long time Kings fan ( yes I admit it, I was born and raised in Sacramento) the biggest frustration with Mike Brown was his reluctance to play Ellis .. last year we saw his potential and after a strong summer league we figured he would be playing significant minutes.
    For some reason Mike Brown had him on a short leash and if he made a mistake or two would have him pulled. In fact alot of Mike Browns rotations has us frustrated. In fact alot of us agreed he should of been the starter in the beginning of the season instead of Huerter. Though you have been seeing him getting a lot of playing time especially with Fox hurt he has been seeing starter minutes, but even when Fox gets back he will be playing around 30 minutes.... The game against Memphis and he had 34 minutes.

    This is a great objective breakdown. He was what the Kings were hoping Davon Mitchell would grow into. The downside of Davon is his size. One possible reason the Kings gave him up for a fax machine is that they picked up under-drafted Keon Ellis.
    Ellis is very quick and has a high basketball IQ. One element he brought to the team that you will never see on the stat sheet is ball deflections, he is averaging 6.5 deflections per game in 2025 so far. Ranged 2nd in the league, with only 0.3 differences to the league leader. He would be a starter on lots of NBA teams.

      Man, every time I think about that series it's not game 6 I go back to but game 4. If that Divac tip out hadn't gone exactly into the hands of Horry they would have been up 3-1 with game 5 at home. And ofcourse, they got screwed in game 6, but they also lost game 7 at home. So close!

      Yeah it destroys a franchise when the entire NBA, and the refs team up to single handedly steal a Sacramento Kings championship and hand it to the Lakers because “they’re the Lakers.” A lot of teams would never EVER recover from that.

    Keon's the Kirkland Signature version of Jrue Holiday. Extremely high quality at a low price and often slept on, but with a feral cult following. His biggest weakness was on display during the Celtics game; he kept getting switched onto Jaylen Brown who could easily muscle past him in the post. Otherwise, to me he's neck and neck with Keegan for best defender and with Malik with highest BBIQ. Would definitely love to see him on an all-defensive team at some point.

  • @Weather_Nerd

    I love Huerter and all, I truly do but he hasn’t shot well from 3 for two seasons now and Keegan went downhill beginning last year too. That said, Ellis being able to hit open 3s is of utmost importance to our team and all summer long I looked forward to the Fox/Keon insane defensive backcourt we saw to end last season and to see Huerter given it (while being out of game shape and not playing ball in MONTHS) was just super disappointing.
    I get the length, Huerter is 6’7 and is actually an underrated playmaker even but Keon is 6’5 with a 6’9 wingspan and we knew damn well what damage he and Fox combined did together so it was just strange. Now, if Huerter was making shots like season 1 with the Kings I could somewhat understand the decision but yeah… we know how that went. And as beast as Monk had been starting, I am still on the Fox/Keon train. Bench unit needs Monk’s playmaking scoring and pace more. That’s my book on the topic

      I've been saying Demar should get benched. Fox, Monk, and Ellis are super fast to pair with Sabonis at point center. Let Demar run the second unit with Carter, Lyles, Len, and Huerter. They all play slower, which is more Demar's play style.

    Refusing to even try starting Monk was Mike Browns biggest mistake. The man was stubborn and inflexible. Lacked the vision to make adjustments. (Losing 6x to the same team in one season) He got a pass because he helped end the playoff drought but he blew the series against the warriors.
