thank you Alistair 🙏 this is still the only testing I’ve done with the 12. I think the hyperview is for people that don’t know how they want the finished video to look and are keeping their options open to either cut portrait or landscape in the edit. for us we don’t have anything powerful enough to handle an edit of that nature. I’ll probably shoot in 5.3K 60FPS but that will process down to 4K 60FPS for youtube. excited to get out and try it, if we get a bit more snow i’ll be out!
Happy New Year Jill and Nick what a great review...I bought a Go Pro when I started my channel thinking I was going to be able to use it for my art but it didn't really work for me...I gave it to my Son and his family and just kept using my phone and when I upgraded my phone I kept it as a backup...I know, crazy thing to do but it worked for me...I love this video you did such a great job with this review...all the side by side's were awesome...great job!
We enjoyed the unboxing, Nick. Looks like a great camera! We need to get something like that to film our driving portion of our videos. As of now I only point our phone out the windshield or windows, Instead of driving carefully. With one of these I could mount it somewhere, push record and forget about it. I here the Go Pro's are the way to go. Beautiful footage of you and Jill! Clear improvement both in the day and night. Enjoyed the review.

yes that would be a great use of the GoPro Dave! I believe that constantly filming for long periods would overheat previous models of GoPros (not something I’ve ever tried), most cameras would overheat and turn off after 15 minutes but the 12 is the first version to not overheat!
Well, well, well, who would have thought I’d be watching an unboxing and camera review? I NEVER, EVER watch reviews or any other such inane nonsense. However, I not only decided to watch the whole film, I even watched it twice to make sure my comments were accurate. I’ve always said the Hero 10 was the perfect 10. Why on earth people want to try and improve on perfection is beyond me. 5k resolution, 6k and 10 bit thingy a magig is just for JBP’s believing their getting better than anybody else! Yes the 12 had a wider field of view but no noticeable difference in colours. You’ve certainly become to the hype that newer is better. This film has certainly reinforced my belief that my Hero 10 is without doubt PERFECTION.
Mike ❤ the 10 is an amazing powerhouse of a performer and will be industry standard for many, many years! Like you I never watch unboxings either, but then I don’t normally have anything to unbox! I get excited unboxing zero carb pasta from the skinny club (which to be fair I’m surprised I haven’t been kicked out of 😂). But I thought I’d challenge myself on this one. We really did need a second camera, the 10 has a fault which i’ll need to have replaced and the remote audio is something I’ve always fancied but always been put off by the price of entry. The other features? I was clueless about. 10 bit v 8 bit colour? FOV? stabilisation 6.0? Rewind a week I would have thought this was all alien speak. After the unboxing it was just a case of filming on both cameras the same footage. After pouring over it you could start to see the differences. What I think we need is a really bright day to fully test the scope of the 12. On the dull Northern days we filmed on we didn’t have much scope to see the differences! I think my eyes might be struggling to see the extra, what’s 1 billion minus 16 million, colours? Oh no, my heads hurting now!

Brilliant unboxing and you bought a fantastic piece of equipment. The shots are excellent for action camera in low-light environments as well! ( you will see for yourself on the field) 👏👏

@@GENerationXplorers I don't plan to change my setup. My GoPro camera survived the extreme cold in the glacier water on one of the last hikes (I haven't edited yet) so I don't have the heart to replace it 😄

Love the bag that it comes in, really well thought about and i like how safe the contents are. Interesting to see what you get for the creators edition! Loving the comparison, it's ultimately better in picture quality, sound and it looks much smoother too. I wasn't a big fan of 4k60 HV, it was super wobbly? or maybe that was my eyes lol!!!! I have been toying with getting a GoPro or similar at some point this year, but honestly I'm a bit concerned I won't get the use out of it as my phone does the trick for the little videos I put together of our walks, although some sort of handheld tripod would definitely be helpful. I'm really keen to find a good editing package with a decent music catalogue though as I would enjoy playing around with some video editing. Whether I take the plunge with GoPro or not, I always find it really useful to have reviews like this as a reference point. Thank you for showing us around the camera and the differences in quality. I hope you both get lots of enjoyment from the new gadget and I can't wait to see what you film with it! 🤩

Great presentstion nick you done this really well i think the most inportant thing is the audio when speaking to other people on videos and this bad boy seems to be good at that.the low light shots look good and stabilisation is always very good on gopro.i think this is ideal for your filming and look forward to your adventures take care and speak soonx

I think they are all still viable from the 7 up atm, the media mod is a very worthy purchase though as the sound quality is far superior. GoPro are consistently discounting older models so it’s worth taking a look at some of the upgrades on sale now..
thank you Rachel, we were pleasantly surprised. the low light stabilisation especially for wildcamping could be a game changer. remember, GoPro offer a trade in programme. we are happy to have two for now and loved how the remote audio worked!

Nice, I'm torn between the Osmo Action 4 or the GoPro 12. I'm already in the GoPro ecosystem so I have quite a few endoro batteries but the DJI does handle low light much better. I was almost sold on the Insta360 Ace, but the lack of removable/replaceable lens turned me off of that.
Apparently the Osmo Action 4 has a better sensor than the Go Pro 12 and handles at low light better. its like you say we are already in the GoPro ecosystem so it’s hard to leave, I’ve bought into their subscription service and cloud storage so it’s a difficult choice for me to leave. I just hope that one day the GoPro will improve the sensor. Critics say they are unlikely to do so as improvements in that area will really hamper battery life performance.
Nick that was great. I’ve got the Hero 10. It’s great on sunny days but as you say, awful in low light. Actually if I’m out and it gets darker I always switch to the iPhone which handles low light much better. The 12 looks fantastic 👌❤️
Thanks Phil, yes we were pleasantly surprised with how well this model performs in low light. I’ve gotten used to being very stationary with the 10 in low light and it seems to handle dark scenes to a certain extent but being able to get some movement into dark shots will be a real plus. I’m looking forward to giving it a real test when the days improve, we’ve only really had overcast days so far to try it out on!

Hi nick The video you made is getting better with the latest Go Pro action cam upgrade, but why does the video image seem dim? Is it a setting or effect when you edit the video? I think your two cameras, Go Pro 10 and 12, are not different, like the appearance and video quality. But I admire your hard work; hopefully, in this new year, you will be more successful.
Great review. I actually think the media mod sucks on audio, on the 11 anyway. You have to manually flick what mic you're using depending on whether you're in front or behind the camera. unless I don't know how to use it properly. I recently went for some wireless microphones and they are great. I'm not keen on the hyper view and in some instance wide angle sucks. The 12 certainly looks an improvement on what you have currently and if you ever perfect the settings for night time recording then let me know. Look forward to seeing the video captures with it 👍

Doh, I don’t think we had the media mod turned on during our test. it just connects automatically on the 10. have to say Paul it’s you and you alone that inspired us to make this purchase. I remember being blowed away (literally) by the footage of your walking tour in London, you didn’t make out it was on the 11 until I asked, but it was night and day from what the 10 could record. according to press the 11 and 12 are the same camera with just a firmware update. think we are both on the same camera now.. ..let the tests begin! 👍
@@GENerationXplorers yeah the 11 was a big improvement on the 7 I had. I also bought 2 more enduro batteries and carry them as spares when out. I found a few issues with the 11 like it sometimes reports fully charged batteries as empty. You have to take the thing apart and take the battery out and put back in to get it going again. Also when running 4k at 60fps it will overheat on a hot day and shutdown after about 15 minutes of prolonged use. Other than that I've found it great. The 12 might be all fixed on those 2 tho
I've been meaning to get a GoPro 10 because they have been significantly discounted because of the new 12. I decided. But then you went and did this. Now I am second guessing myself. 😂 Great review. I will probs still get the 10 because it is so cheap though. But maybe... 😂
Hi Shane Happy New Year! If you can get the 10 at a good price we highly recommend you get it it’s a great one to start with it comes with a few problems but then I’m sure the 12 will to! Which ever you go for we highly recommend you get the GoPro yearly subscription they often discount that too not only can you upload everything to their cloud but if you do have any problems they are super quick at replacing at no extra cost! 👍

@WanderingwithWatto I probably shouldn’t rely so heavily on the GoPro, think once your committed to the cloud storage you’ve bought in for life! I had to send a previous GoPro back as it had lost its ability to maintain time and date. It was hugely annoying as all the footage you would shoot would not be in any order. Apparently it’s a rare manufacturing fault!
Great one! I really like my 12. The 10 is still good for me, but the extra features with the timelapse on the 12 nail it. I know you mention the faffing people have with external mics, and they can be iffy (and expensive) but the DJI mic is quality kit. Do you have any opinions on the Pocket 3? It looks awesome and ideal for the two of you and your vlogs. But, it's more expense and could just be a bit overhyped... All the best and have fun with the 12 - hope you try some groovy timeapse for your b roll. Would love to see that 😃👍❤️
Hi Jaune wow thanks for this comment we have only just learnt from Cara at OpenMindedWander about DJI checked out their site didn’t see the mics but will take a look! other people have also recommended the insta360 too! we always liked the Timelapse feature on the 10 what does the 12 do different we are yet to experiment! 👍❤️
@@GENerationXplorers I'd check out the vehicle lights feature. You get really nice streaks of light with this timelapse one. You can use that in dim daytime for some good effects - handy for b roll (0.5 second exposure with 100 ISO should work) Star trails is a fun one too. Just need to get a clear night, and use a power pack. Enjoy the 12 😃👍

Blimey £600! I replaced my GoPro Hero 9 recently with a...GoPro Hero 9 😂 £180 I think it was. Why so many boxes? 😂 can certainly see the improved quality with the 12. My main issue with the gopro is how lame it is in low light so can definitely see why you've upgraded and got the light!
Thanks Matt. They have the camera on a New Years sale atm for 299 down from 399. think Santa picked up mine at the Black Friday sale where the pack was also being sold for £100 off. A lot of people are saying the Osmo Action 4 is giving the Go Pro a real run for its money but as a subscriber and someone who really makes use of the unlimited cloud storage Go Pro would really have to mess up with their launches for me to switch. Some definite low light improvements and I think there might be an additional stabilisation boost setting I could have tried out, I’ll experiment over the coming months. the main reason we wanted a second camera was to record people stealthily on the 10 whilst having the 12 not filming all the time. we get so many great comments and actions on the boarded up videos but when I get people to talk on camera they are completely different. i’ l still get peoples permission to film them but if I’ve been stealth filming before I get their permission the footage will be of a much better quality.
@@GENerationXplorers yeah and as there's Jill and yourself you can both film at the same time, and as you said one of you can be stealthy. I think the boarded up videos are going to be big winners for you guys, it seems that people would rather see these types of videos than hiking/tourism/leisure stuff!
@no_soy_rubio sadly that’s the case isnt it? I have some other projects I want to try too. But then we started TH-cam to make better memories of our holidays and days out so there will have to be some sort of balance. The amount of great footage we would have had if we had been stealth filming would take these type of videos to an entirely different level.

Oh yeah, I would love to get the Hero 12 Creators but being a poor OAP I will have to wait till the 13 before I upgrade my Hero Black 10 I think :o(. I am on my second broken VOLTA but my fault, taking a fall on one, which they replaced and then rolling over on the other one on a wildcamp breaking it :o(. I just lost my light mod when I filming down last month at Beamish, so it look like another £38.49 to fork out :o(....there seems to be a lot of sad faces but I am actually very excited about this 12 Creators pack :o). I am still filming at 2.7K, because that's all my computer can handle but to be fair, I am still really happy with the quality I still get. Really like the additional field of view you were getting on the 12 and makes an even better cinematic view which I like, when filming outdoors. Not keen of the Hyper View on your tests but you could see the upgrade it colour and light with the new 12. Low light has always been the main problem with the GoPro, so I am hoping for a bigger sensor in this years 13 when it is released but man that morning footage was superb, what a difference, it looked awesome! I’m with you on that Alan, the Hyperview looked like it would be a real nightmare in the edit, you really would need a lot of post editing to get the detail you wanted out of the frame. I think it’s more for people who don’t understand what their film will look like in the edit, we have way too much experience for that now. I can see the film before I set out the door and I’m positive I learnt a lot of that from watching you and other great tubers! your absolutely right of course it’s all hindered by what we have to edit with and what we have to view it on, 4K60 is the highest youtube will let me view anything on (or maybe that’s my tvs limitation). yes the bigger sensor is what we are all hoping for, apparently according to those “in the know”, (not me) it really compromises battery life and it’s improving the battery life that drives action camera sales so we might not see it anytime soon. the 2.7K you film in always looks world class, the colour correction and time you put in on every video during the edit really shows. 👍

@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling I think the camera on its own comes with two enduro batteries. I think they give twice the time normal batteries do and fare better in low temperatures. GoPro have a great trade in programme too, which i will be using at some point..

A very good analysis of the new gopro and its useful to see a comparison with that 10. I've used gopro cameras for a few years but my current cameras are Insta360. The One R and Go 3 have great stability. It'll be interesting to see the results you achieve from the gopro 12. Looks to be very good kit.
Fancy piece of kit there! We’ve got the 11 and the case is pretty much the same and amazing for travel. We find the sound on the go pro really good (with the sounds thing - guess who is writing this!!!). When Wills has watched this, he will probably leave a much nerdier comment! Great video guys. yes I saw you guys had the 11 and I have to say the first time I saw the 11 I was blown away by it. it wasn’t even a video showcasing the 11 but I just knew immediately something was different. the 11 according to press is the identical camera to the 12, the 12 just has a firmware upgrade that gives it a few more features, its something they could retrofit to the 11 but why would they? thanks for the comment Rach ♥️🍻

Great review Nick and Jill. Looks like a great camera if you like vlogging with an action camera. The media mod certainly transforms the camera and the remote audio is a worthy addition. I bought some remote mics to work with one of my cameras - I've used them a couple of times but they are just another bit of kit to carry around. When I'm vlogging I want minimum gear, I already carry enough cameras/filters etc for still images. So that addition to the gopro is pretty cool in my mind. I do find that phones and action cams do like to provide a good deal of oversharpening on footage but that didn't look too unnatural.

Interesting to watch this and see your thoughts. I have the 10, but the Go Pro isn't my camera of choice, my ZV-1 works better for how I use it. Although saying that I've not got a Volta and that might change my mind on the 10!! So I might consider treating myself to the Volta!! You got a lot of extras in this pack and it picks up great footage! Have a great weekend both of you!
wow, didn’t know that, I’ve heard some great things about the Sony ZV1, we have a Panasonic Lumix that we use in a few scenarios, it’s probably just convenience that we lean so heavily on the 10. yes we always carry, two voltas wherever we go. thats six hours constantly on, always ready to hopefully snap a cheeky bear if one appears! have a smashing weekend Nettie!

thank you Alistair 🙏 this is still the only testing I’ve done with the 12. I think the hyperview is for people that don’t know how they want the finished video to look and are keeping their options open to either cut portrait or landscape in the edit. for us we don’t have anything powerful enough to handle an edit of that nature. I’ll probably shoot in 5.3K 60FPS but that will process down to 4K 60FPS for youtube. excited to get out and try it, if we get a bit more snow i’ll be out!

We enjoyed the unboxing, Nick. Looks like a great camera! We need to get something like that to film our driving portion of our videos. As of now I only point our phone out the windshield or windows, Instead of driving carefully. With one of these I could mount it somewhere, push record and forget about it. I here the Go Pro's are the way to go. Beautiful footage of you and Jill! Clear improvement both in the day and night. Enjoyed the review.

yes that would be a great use of the GoPro Dave! I believe that constantly filming for long periods would overheat previous models of GoPros (not something I’ve ever tried), most cameras would overheat and turn off after 15 minutes but the 12 is the first version to not overheat!

Well, well, well, who would have thought I’d be watching an unboxing and camera review? I NEVER, EVER watch reviews or any other such inane nonsense. However, I not only decided to watch the whole film, I even watched it twice to make sure my comments were accurate. I’ve always said the Hero 10 was the perfect 10. Why on earth people want to try and improve on perfection is beyond me. 5k resolution, 6k and 10 bit thingy a magig is just for JBP’s believing their getting better than anybody else! Yes the 12 had a wider field of view but no noticeable difference in colours. You’ve certainly become to the hype that newer is better. This film has certainly reinforced my belief that my Hero 10 is without doubt PERFECTION.
Mike ❤ the 10 is an amazing powerhouse of a performer and will be industry standard for many, many years! Like you I never watch unboxings either, but then I don’t normally have anything to unbox! I get excited unboxing zero carb pasta from the skinny club (which to be fair I’m surprised I haven’t been kicked out of 😂). But I thought I’d challenge myself on this one. We really did need a second camera, the 10 has a fault which i’ll need to have replaced and the remote audio is something I’ve always fancied but always been put off by the price of entry.
The other features? I was clueless about. 10 bit v 8 bit colour? FOV? stabilisation 6.0? Rewind a week I would have thought this was all alien speak.
After the unboxing it was just a case of filming on both cameras the same footage. After pouring over it you could start to see the differences. What I think we need is a really bright day to fully test the scope of the 12. On the dull Northern days we filmed on we didn’t have much scope to see the differences!
I think my eyes might be struggling to see the extra, what’s 1 billion minus 16 million, colours? Oh no, my heads hurting now!

Of course the Hero 12 is going to be better but the Hero 24 will blow your mind! Enjoy your camera and I’ll always be watching no matter what camera you’re using. Brilliant unboxing and you bought a fantastic piece of equipment. The shots are excellent for action camera in low-light environments as well! ( you will see for yourself on the field) 👏👏

@@GENerationXplorers I don't plan to change my setup. My GoPro camera survived the extreme cold in the glacier water on one of the last hikes (I haven't edited yet) so I don't have the heart to replace it 😄

Love the bag that it comes in, really well thought about and i like how safe the contents are. Interesting to see what you get for the creators edition! Loving the comparison, it's ultimately better in picture quality, sound and it looks much smoother too. I wasn't a big fan of 4k60 HV, it was super wobbly? or maybe that was my eyes lol!!!! I have been toying with getting a GoPro or similar at some point this year, but honestly I'm a bit concerned I won't get the use out of it as my phone does the trick for the little videos I put together of our walks, although some sort of handheld tripod would definitely be helpful. I'm really keen to find a good editing package with a decent music catalogue though as I would enjoy playing around with some video editing. Whether I take the plunge with GoPro or not, I always find it really useful to have reviews like this as a reference point. Thank you for showing us around the camera and the differences in quality. I hope you both get lots of enjoyment from the new gadget and I can't wait to see what you film with it! 🤩

Great presentstion nick you done this really well i think the most inportant thing is the audio when speaking to other people on videos and this bad boy seems to be good at that.the low light shots look good and stabilisation is always very good on gopro.i think this is ideal for your filming and look forward to your adventures take care and speak soonx

I think they are all still viable from the 7 up atm, the media mod is a very worthy purchase though as the sound quality is far superior. GoPro are consistently discounting older models so it’s worth taking a look at some of the upgrades on sale now..

Nice, I'm torn between the Osmo Action 4 or the GoPro 12. I'm already in the GoPro ecosystem so I have quite a few endoro batteries but the DJI does handle low light much better. I was almost sold on the Insta360 Ace, but the lack of removable/replaceable lens turned me off of that.
Apparently the Osmo Action 4 has a better sensor than the Go Pro 12 and handles at low light better. its like you say we are already in the GoPro ecosystem so it’s hard to leave, I’ve bought into their subscription service and cloud storage so it’s a difficult choice for me to leave. I just hope that one day the GoPro will improve the sensor. Critics say they are unlikely to do so as improvements in that area will really hamper battery life performance.
Nick that was great. I’ve got the Hero 10.
It’s great on sunny days but as you say, awful in low light. Actually if I’m out and it gets darker I always switch to the iPhone which handles low light much better.

Thanks Phil, yes we were pleasantly surprised with how well this model performs in low light. I’ve gotten used to being very stationary with the 10 in low light and it seems to handle dark scenes to a certain extent but being able to get some movement into dark shots will be a real plus. I’m looking forward to giving it a real test when the days improve, we’ve only really had overcast days so far to try it out on!
The 12 looks measurably better. Is that a present from 🎅 ? Wishing you both a very successful 2024, keep the videos coming!

Great review. I actually think the media mod sucks on audio, on the 11 anyway. You have to manually flick what mic you're using depending on whether you're in front or behind the camera. unless I don't know how to use it properly. I recently went for some wireless microphones and they are great. I'm not keen on the hyper view and in some instance wide angle sucks. The 12 certainly looks an improvement on what you have currently and if you ever perfect the settings for night time recording then let me know. Look forward to seeing the video captures with it 👍
wow Paul that helps a lot. Doh, I don’t think we had the media mod turned on during our test. it just connects automatically on the 10.
have to say Paul it’s you and you alone that inspired us to make this purchase. I remember being blowed away (literally) by the footage of your walking tour in London, you didn’t make out it was on the 11 until I asked, but it was night and day from what the 10 could record.
according to press the 11 and 12 are the same camera with just a firmware update. think we are both on the same camera now..

@@GENerationXplorers yeah the 11 was a big improvement on the 7 I had. I also bought 2 more enduro batteries and carry them as spares when out. I found a few issues with the 11 like it sometimes reports fully charged batteries as empty. You have to take the thing apart and take the battery out and put back in to get it going again. Also when running 4k at 60fps it will overheat on a hot day and shutdown after about 15 minutes of prolonged use. Other than that I've found it great. The 12 might be all fixed on those 2 tho

Hi Shane Happy New Year! If you can get the 10 at a good price we highly recommend you get it it’s a great one to start with it comes with a few problems but then I’m sure the 12 will to! Which ever you go for we highly recommend you get the GoPro yearly subscription they often discount that too not only can you upload everything to their cloud but if you do have any problems they are super quick at replacing at no extra cost! 👍

@WanderingwithWatto Thankyou 🙏 You too. To be honest we really needed a second camera as our 10 keeps fogging up inside the lens. I’ll finally be able to send it off and request a replacement. Last time we sent our GoPro off it was a two week turnaround.

@WanderingwithWatto I probably shouldn’t rely so heavily on the GoPro, think once your committed to the cloud storage you’ve bought in for life! I had to send a previous GoPro back as it had lost its ability to maintain time and date. It was hugely annoying as all the footage you would shoot would not be in any order. Apparently it’s a rare manufacturing fault!
Great one! I really like my 12. The 10 is still good for me, but the extra features with the timelapse on the 12 nail it.
I know you mention the faffing people have with external mics, and they can be iffy (and expensive) but the DJI mic is quality kit.
Do you have any opinions on the Pocket 3? It looks awesome and ideal for the two of you and your vlogs. But, it's more expense and could just be a bit overhyped...

@@GENerationXplorers I'd check out the vehicle lights feature. You get really nice streaks of light with this timelapse one. You can use that in dim daytime for some good effects - handy for b roll (0.5 second exposure with 100 ISO should work) Star trails is a fun one too. Just need to get a clear night, and use a power pack. Enjoy the 12 😃👍

Blimey £600! I replaced my GoPro Hero 9 recently with a...GoPro Hero 9 😂 £180 I think it was. Why so many boxes? 😂 can certainly see the improved quality with the 12. My main issue with the gopro is how lame it is in low light so can definitely see why you've upgraded and got the light!
Thanks Matt. They have the camera on a New Years sale atm for 299 down from 399. think Santa picked up mine at the Black Friday sale where the pack was also being sold for £100 off. A lot of people are saying the Osmo Action 4 is giving the Go Pro a real run for its money but as a subscriber and someone who really makes use of the unlimited cloud storage Go Pro would really have to mess up with their launches for me to switch. Some definite low light improvements and I think there might be an additional stabilisation boost setting I could have tried out, I’ll experiment over the coming months. the main reason we wanted a second camera was to record people stealthily on the 10 whilst having the 12 not filming all the time. we get so many great comments and actions on the boarded up videos but when I get people to talk on camera they are completely different. i’
l still get peoples permission to film them but if I’ve been stealth filming before I get their permission the footage will be of a much better quality.

I think the boarded up videos are going to be big winners for you guys, it seems that people would rather see these types of videos than hiking/tourism/leisure stuff!
@no_soy_rubio sadly that’s the case isnt it? I have some other projects I want to try too. But then we started TH-cam to make better memories of our holidays and days out so there will have to be some sort of balance. The amount of great footage we would have had if we had been stealth filming would take these type of videos to an entirely different level.

But your channel views and subscribers are very less. Because your video is not properly SEO. Your material is excellent. You must change your channel (description, strong keywords and highly SEO-optimized configuration). You should specifically increase the SEO score of your TH-cam videos and use organic SEO.

Oh yeah, I would love to get the Hero 12 Creators but being a poor OAP I will have to wait till the 13 before I upgrade my Hero Black 10 I think :o(. I am on my second broken VOLTA but my fault, taking a fall on one, which they replaced and then rolling over on the other one on a wildcamp breaking it :o(. I just lost my light mod when I filming down last month at Beamish, so it look like another £38.49 to fork out :o(....there seems to be a lot of sad faces but I am actually very excited about this 12 Creators pack :o). I am still filming at 2.7K, because that's all my computer can handle but to be fair, I am still really happy with the quality I still get. Really like the additional field of view you were getting on the 12 and makes an even better cinematic view which I like, when filming outdoors. Not keen of the Hyper View on your tests but you could see the upgrade it colour and light with the new 12. Low light has always been the main problem with the GoPro, so I am hoping for a bigger sensor in this years 13 when it is released but man that morning footage was superb, what a difference, it looked awesome! I’m with you on that Alan, the Hyperview looked like it would be a real nightmare in the edit, you really would need a lot of post editing to get the detail you wanted out of the frame. I think it’s more for people who don’t understand what their film will look like in the edit, we have way too much experience for that now. I can see the film before I set out the door and I’m positive I learnt a lot of that from watching you and other great tubers! your absolutely right of course it’s all hindered by what we have to edit with and what we have to view it on, 4K60 is the highest youtube will let me view anything on (or maybe that’s my tvs limitation). yes the bigger sensor is what we are all hoping for, apparently according to those “in the know”, (not me) it really compromises battery life and it’s improving the battery life that drives action camera sales so we might not see it anytime soon. the 2.7K you film in always looks world class, the colour correction and time you put in on every video during the edit really shows. 👍

@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling I think the camera on its own comes with two enduro batteries. I think they give twice the time normal batteries do and fare better in low temperatures. GoPro have a great trade in programme too, which i will be using at some point..

I love GoPros and I usually film just on that as it’s so easy I rarely dig out my camera 😂 so cool you got the GoPro hero 12! I am still on the 10 for now. A very good analysis of the new gopro and its useful to see a comparison with that 10. I've used gopro cameras for a few years but my current cameras are Insta360. The One R and Go 3 have great stability. It'll be interesting to see the results you achieve from the gopro 12. Looks to be very good kit.

Fancy piece of kit there! We’ve got the 11 and the case is pretty much the same and amazing for travel. We find the sound on the go pro really good (with the sounds thing - guess who is writing this!!!). When Wills has watched this, he will probably leave a much nerdier comment! Great video guys. yes I saw you guys had the 11 and I have to say the first time I saw the 11 I was blown away by it. it wasn’t even a video showcasing the 11 but I just knew immediately something was different. the 11 according to press is the identical camera to the 12, the 12 just has a firmware upgrade that gives it a few more features, its something they could retrofit to the 11 but why would they? thanks for the comment Rach ♥️🍻

The media mod certainly transforms the camera and the remote audio is a worthy addition. I bought some remote mics to work with one of my cameras - I've used them a couple of times but they are just another bit of kit to carry around. When I'm vlogging I want minimum gear, I already carry enough cameras/filters etc for still images. So that addition to the gopro is pretty cool in my mind.
I do find that phones and action cams do like to provide a good deal of oversharpening on footage but that didn't look too unnatural.

Interesting to watch this and see your thoughts. I have the 10, but the Go Pro isn't my camera of choice, my ZV-1 works better for how I use it. Although saying that I've not got a Volta and that might change my mind on the 10!! So I might consider treating myself to the Volta!! You got a lot of extras in this pack and it picks up great footage! Have a great weekend both of you!
wow, didn’t know that, I’ve heard some great things about the Sony ZV1, we have a Panasonic Lumix that we use in a few scenarios, it’s probably just convenience that we lean so heavily on the 10. yes we always carry, two voltas wherever we go. thats six hours constantly on, always ready to hopefully snap a cheeky bear if one appears! have a smashing weekend Nettie!
