Just got to the goat part, holy cow what shots, world class with that distance and how quickly you can get those off. Rewatched that 3peat at least 6 times. So impressive, great to watch. You gotta give us a gear review one of these days too, would love to know your rifle setup and your outdoor gear, jackets and the like. Great vid will look forward to more
Hi there, I've been enjoying your videos Love the breathtaking scenery, spot on shooting and splendid wild life so I just had to subscribe to your channel Keep em coming Cheers!
I honestly think sniper rifles are for war. I am a fan of hunting with a pair of dogs and a double barrel. However, I have to say that I prefer a precise shot and a quick death of the game. Good video.
Thanks mate. Depends what you mean by sniper rifle. This is a standard off the shelve hunting rifle. I suppose it could be called a sniper rifle, hadn’t really thought about it like that before. I agree a pair of dogs and a double barrel is a great way to spend a day that’s for sure 👍😁
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼………………………………………….Good shooting!! You must be in better shape than professional athletes. You carry all those goats out, you don’t have to worry about lifting weights at a gym and climbing those mountains, well, that takes care of the cardio. LOL!
Ha well unfortunately you can’t get them all but always try to take what I can. Walking hills certainly keeps a good level of fitness. Thanks for watching bud 👍
Hi, Using the factory sako 123 gr in this video. Once iv finished them I’ll use the brass. Iv already got a 168gr ELD-M load made up that groups nice. Thanks.👍
Thanks for the content, ive watched pretty much all of your vids and ejoyed them all!, rather be on the hill than working!! What part of the country are you in North or Sth island? Nice looking open areas! Cheers
I see your using the new element hdlr scope did you have any issues with the parallax adjustment on full magnification, where you are unable too get a good clear image at extended ranges
Hi, iv had a really good run so far, zero issues with the Element Optics gear. There were a couple of shots there where I didn’t have time to refocus the TRIGGERCAM so it wasn’t as clear as it should have been. Both the TRIGGERCAM and the scope work perfectly when I do my part. I would almost say the 2-16x50 HDLR is one of the most versatile and best value for money buys at the moment. Early days though as I haven’t had it long. Have you had issues with that model?
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting yes having a issue with the parallax trying to focus on full magnification between 200 and 500 yards the image is not clear I know of two other scopes with the same issue mine has been returned to be assessed and both my friend's scopes are waiting to see what is the resolution with my scope before they return there scopes
That’s interesting to hear iv used 3 of those optics and they have all been great so far. Could you please keep me in the loop on the result of this. I’d be very interested as to how it is resolved. Best of luck. 👍
@Controlled Recoil - NZ Hunting this is my second element optics scope I've no issues the first one I bought, hopefully it just something that can be repaired, as there equipment is very good normally I'll let you know the outcome
We try to utilise as much of the meat as possible. We eat goat as well as use it to feed our farm working dogs. We don’t require tags in NZ but do require a permit for public land or special permits for ballot blocks. Goats get into very large numbers in certain areas so it is important to keep numbers in check to avoid damage to our native plants. We are lucky as everything we hunt in NZ is introduced and with no predators they must be hunted to keep in check. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi, yes it always pays to take a few. Their numbers just explode otherwise. We need to do our part. No big stags walking around if they are struggling for winter feed. Thanks for watching 👍👍😁
Hi, I try to utilise as much as possible however I can’t retrieve all of them unfortunately. All the animals we hunt in New Zealand are introduced and have no natural predators so if we didn’t hunt them and control numbers they would simply destroy our native bush. It’s a unique situation as every time we go hunting we are actually helping our native environment. I also have a license to sell some for human consumption as well as using some for dog food. There is now a consistent market for the meat starting and more people are using helicopters to recover animals in remote areas. If demand increases enough we may see very little wasted meat which would be nice. However in the meantime it’s important to keep numbers in check. Thanks for watching 👍😁
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting wicked I bin wait. I'm Guna be down south labour weekend in Blenheim on the old boys getn sum meat can't wait. Dead eye Donny the dealer strikes it Rite I hope

Using the factory sako 123 gr in this video. Once iv finished them I’ll use the brass. Iv already got a 168gr ELD-M load made up that groups nice. Thanks.👍

Hi, Nikon P1000 and Canon Sx70 and iPhone working on getting some better stuff soon hopefully. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Impressive. What is the rifle, scope and calibre you are running?
Hi, I’m using a Tikka .308 with a 16” barrel and a hardy suppressor. Element Optics 2-16x50 HDLR. Nice compact combo.

BTW what was the target distance ?
Hi, not to far on these ones. Shots ranging from 70 yards out to 250 . Thanks 👍😁
I reckon you collect the goats afterwards. Does your government require you to purchase tags for animals you hunt?

What ammo you run ?
I was using 123gr factory Sako ammunition in this video but i now use 168gr reloads in this rifle. Cheers 👍
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting thanks might get me some
What caliber this time? Great shooting!
Thanks mate. 308 Tikka 16”barrel. 👍
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting yeah. Got one too. I use 130 TTSX. Duely’s hand load. Are you using factory?
I’m finishing off some 123gr sako factory. Have already got a good 168gr ELDm load for it ready to go. The light bullets do go well in the 308 though.
Something more hunters need to do. Drop the stinkies
