  • Mactan Newtown - a township on the east of Mactan island containing condos, shops, coffee shops and eateries. Personally I find it fake and soulless and strikes a uncanny similarity to the film The Truman Show starring Jim Carrey where he discovers the place he's living is actually an elaborate film set.
Some of the Top/Best Tourist historical spots/sites/attractions in Lapu-Lapu city are undoubtably the Mactan Shrine Memorial Park which is home to the LapuLapu and Magellan Monuments which honour the Battle of Mactan.
Cebu is a vibrant Asian city and favorite travel destination in Asia. Cebu has the best of both world - combining the city life of shopping malls and nightlife with beaches and paradise islands.
The Philippines should be on everyone’s bucket list with its beautiful white sand beaches, fabulous idyllic islands, turquoise sea and stunning scenery. The Philippines is a traveller’s paradise and regularly included in top ten favorite places to visit in Asia and affordable, favorite world holiday destination.
Many foreigners/expats choose the Philippines as the best country to retire in Asia and live in paradise. The Philippines is one of the cheapest countries to live in the world with its low cost of living and all year sunshine. Retiring in the Philippines is affordable on a budget of less than $1000 per month.
Filipinos are welcome and warm people. Filipinos are often regarded as the most friendliest nation in Asia and nicest people in the world. English is widely spoken throughout the country. The Philippines is included in the top ten English speaking countries in the world. The majority of Filipinos are highly proficient in English, so it is very easy to strike up a conversation and make new friends.

@Love Needs a few more places to sit out and chill I feel. I've yet to go to Manila, but from the videos I've seen they have better outdoor terraces in Makati and BGC.
Have you visited other cities in the PH?

Actually I enjoyed your video. I am an American born on Mactan in the 50's (father was military). Makes me old. Thanks for this video. I remember all of Mactan being almost completely vacant - nothing at all on the island except small huts along the main road. Crazy how it has changed. I will be there in November 2023 to see this area for myself. Thank you

@@BiggWorldCinema 10 days last November. Had an Airbnb at 8 Newtown. I plan to travel 3 months out of the year so close to airport and close to ferries is important to me. Golf course near the airport was cool and I like my golf. Loved the condo plus that huge ass pool and it was far more laid back than when I visited Cebu Business Park my 2nd choice.

Regarding a mall in newtown, search on TH-cam "Mactan Newtown Beach Walk." I think that construction sight you passed along the way to the beach is the sight of the mall. It will be one of the most unique places once operational to visit in Cebu like Ilcorso Mall on the South Road Properties of Filinvest near SM Cebu Seaside.

I can't imagine it opening for a number of years yet!
One of the condo buildings near me in Cebu Business Park isn't expected to be completed until 2030!
      What's your favourite mall Neil?

I am in real estate and I live nearby the area. For me its a place to chill on a Sunday, a place to gather after church. If you need lots of action I can recommend IT Park. Mactan Newtown is still a work in progress.

    Good day, Sir.
If you're interested in another side of Cebu (especially its cultural heritage), do visit the Taoist Temple and the Heavenly Temple of Charity in Lahug.

The Taoist Temple is on my list but I heard that they don't like visitors and many people get turned away!

Newtown is a work in progress. Philippines is still a 3rd world country its population is overwhelmingly poor.

    • @BiggWorldCinema
      @BiggWorldCinema  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That is true. Newtown won't be finished for another 10 years.
Philippines poverty is even more visible due to the aftermath of typhoons and the pandemic.
      Have you visited the country?

excuse me, sorry! but, Phi🇵🇭 is not a 3rd world country. try to research if you have time and be updated. actually phi🇵🇭 is the highest gdp growth in Asia and one of the top in the world at 8.3% in 1st quarter and still growing most certainly its huge service sectors(call center capital of the world, OFW) moreover, Phi.🇵🇭 has a huge potential for its blessed nature and minerals indeed, the build build build program of last administration still on progress with the present. and lastly, i guess 3rd world countries are more likely african countries with no good water, and electricity supply, no skyscrapers, mud roads, disorganized environment, more slums, crime and poverty, high inflation rate, more jobless, and lack of good facilities, transportations and infrastructures. and thats not what happens in the ph🇵🇭 maybe there still poverty but, not much and poverty is not disappearing even though rich countries have poverty. so dont called phi.🇵🇭 3rd world bcos you dont even know the capabilities and opportunities that the ph🇵🇭 face in the coming future. i guess your country is poor and 3rd world as well as your mentalilty.

I assume you're directing your venom at the guy who called Philippines a third world country. Which technically it is, so he's correct.
      I love the Philippines!
Have always been welcomed and feel at home here.
Hopefully the Philippines will prosper under its new leader.

@@nielk799 yes it is a 4th world country! It is the rich people in power fault. They are doing nothing to make things better and for you to spit venom because someone tells the truth it makes you a fake patriot. Criticise the bad in your country, accept it and be constructive. The Philippines has no industry, no agriculture. There is no economic growth, fake statiatics. Teach your people how to grow food at least, collect the garbage and stop throwing it in the rivers and everywhere else. No, nothing is ok in your country! Same in my country and I know the difference. What's the point hiding the garbage under the rug? You are dillusional or paid to lie for the dirty politicians and corrupted authorities. People like you make me 🤮
