  • Wassup everyone, veen588 here. After waaay too long of a wait, and well over 150 hours of work, I present to you; SOS MGY.
SOS MGY is a short cinematic film focused on bringing Titanic to life using a condensed real time format. The film refrains from using text (other than the morse code messages) to explain what's going on in each scene, allowing for a more authentic experience in some ways. The film aims to show that, although Titanic was able to contact other ships via her wireless transmitter, she truly was alone on the night of the sinking, and help was painfully just out of reach.

Ayo bro! This is freaking amazing! Quality is 10/10 all around! That transition at 0:19 is DOPE. All that hard work really paid off! Glad I could help with the rendering side of things! 👍

This is amazing story telling through the use of morse code messaging that was ultimately a failed rescue mission. Very gripping and sad. Excellent job.

THANK YOU FOR DISPLAYING THE LETTERS, NUMBERS, AND SYMBOLS OF THE MORSE CODE AS THE AUDIO PLAYS FOR EACH ONE. I am so tired of trying to match up a completed sentence to the dots and dashes I hear coming through. Thank you for slowing it down and matching the pace.

Hi Veen, I have a question: what are your thoughts on new research which suggests Boat 10 left at 2:09 - later than previously thought? I agree with it as it explains Frank Evans and Edward Buley’s accounts.

    • @veen588_official
      @veen588_official  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I do think its a very plausible theory, although we're not 100% certain whether it happened or not yet. Nevertheless, considering it does explain a few things the witnesses say, I personally believe that its likely what happened.

Does anyone know where I can also read up on this new research, I've been seeing this idea around but I have no idea where it's come from

@@elijahredacted8196Frank Evans noted the red port light being close to the water and Edward Buley noted it was under when they reached the water. We can’t change the waterline to account for two survivors so more likely, it left later than previously thought to account for them.

      @@veen588_official Hi Veen, I have a question:
How long do you think was the time from iceberg collision to engines stopping for final time? Do you think they stop twice, four or three times after collision?
I used to think it was twice but Dillon and Fred Scott below decks both seem to suggest three or four times. But others seemed to suggest it was twice, for example, Stengel.

@@IloveCruiseShips1912 As far as I'm aware, the engines were ordered to stop immediately before the collision, following the collision they were ordered slow ahead, and then roughly 5 minutes later the all stop order was given. Now, I haven't ever had the chance to read Dillon or Scott's accounts, so I'd need to look into those, but based on what I know I think it was only twice; once immediately before the collision, and once after the collision.
Also not sure if it was unintentional or not, but I'm not Bill Vanek lol

A lot of it had to do with Hydrodynamics and the flooding in the ship. When the forecastle and well deck flooded, the weight of the water began pushing down on the ship, which accelerated its sinking. Another contributing factor was the way the ship flooded. She slowed down in her descent earlier due to the fact that she was just barely past the threshold of flooding for her to sink, and the flooding got close to reaching an equilibrium with the remaining buoyancy in the ship. However, around the time the bow began to flood, boiler room 4 started to fill, which is what broke the near-equilibrium that she had settled into. And that only continued to get worse as the bow sank further down and more access points for water such as doors or open portholes began to submerge.
Lastly, the final plunge which started at 2:16 A.M. was likely caused by a couple of factors. When the boat deck began to flood, something similar to the bow likely started taking place and the weight of the water pushing down on the ship probably caused her sinking to accelerate. We know that right before the plunge Titanic recovered from her heavy list to port in a span of just a couple of seconds, which may have thrown off any last bit of stability she had in the water since it rapidly submerged the starboard side of the boat deck.
Once enough of the ship was flooded, she'd completely lose her buoyancy and would physically no longer be able to float as she would displace less water than she weighed, resulting in her rapidly plunging in her final moments.
I know I just threw a lot at you, but I hope it answers your question!

Holy crap this is amazing! No one else ever bothers depicting the passengers as well as you have. The way they slide as the ship lists, then how they fall in groups as it gets higher and higher. Amazing work!
