Easily the best TFD channel there is. Everyone else doing helpful guides is convenient but THE MATH is what really counts for the ultra sweats like myself. Appreciate it very much. Looks like i can relax on the defence currently at 52k on Freyna.
I haven't progressed too far yet, but what I prefer to know is the brackets for diminishing returns Not sure how that would fit into this game yet though

this is great , thank you . i noticed when i was at 96k def and when i hit 100k i saw a difference. now after watching this vid ill go back down to 60k and stack hp.

Coming from POE and doing math for the most dumb things, using like 5 external programs and the bests build videos being 40 min long math class with 30 seg gameplay showcase this video is a caress to my soul
The jump cuts are driving me crazy. Here's the summary of the video: Defense reduces incoming damage according to a formula that the speaker couldn't quite figure out. But he did find out that defense has diminishing returns. The more defense you have, the less effective each additional point of defense becomes. The speaker recommends having around 40,000 to 50,000 defense for the most bang for your buck. Elemental resistances are separate from defense and they are subtractive. They reduce the amount of elemental damage you take. The speaker recommends having around 5 to 7,000 elemental resistances. Similar to defense, elemental resistances also have diminishing returns.
Haven't read the comments but off the tip of my head, there is a module for crit resist. Haven't noticed any crazy crit though. As for the formula, the damage can change based on weapon damage(crush, etc). Also probably a flat rate based on enemy type(normal, commander, etc).
I've been thinking bout this today when i was setting up my mods and did trial and error on enemy bosses, and i found your video, this helps a lot! thanks!
Really cool, I've been wondering about defence ever since the first beta and stacking as much as possible on Ajax :) Greatly appreciate the work you've put in, been following your last few videos, had a small thing though; the amount of cuts you do in the video/speech means some words are sometimes cut off and at least for me makes it harder to follow, wouldn't mind less cuts and more pauses!
Finally some good fucking content. A gem of a channel hidden in the rough. There’s about 1000 different videos titled “how to get bunny early”. this video is so refreshing. 😂
Great video, really informative. Since you're so good at math, I think a video breaking down the drop rates would be great. Since there's a lot of misinformation out there with people thinking that a 20% drop rate means that they will get it within 5 runs...
really enjoy these videos as a warframe player because i have 2-3k hours in warframe and im always running numbers or calculations when making new builds
I use a maxed out polygenic and I’ll probably take it off after this vid.. but are any of the specific resistances worth it? Or is resistances in general not worth it? And if you are gonna choose a legend to farm. Choose Kyle. I wanna see how he compares to Ajax.
This was something i really wanted to look into cause i just wanted more of an understanding about it because while im not a "nerdy math person" things didn't feel like they added up at all
I love numbers. Number go up , good. Def should be simple (if u have 1k hp, 0def, u take 100damage u take 100 damage, thàt makes sense. If u have 1khp and 2k def when u get hit for 100damage it should get mitigated by half dealing only 50damage. But if you have 500hp and 2k defence it should scale down as it should work off your up value first. I think defence should be reworked as a DR % on top your your up before or after resistances.)
I'm not sure I understand the resistances part. Do you mean that for example at 4000 resistance, no matter what enemy, I reduce the elemental part of their hit by a flat 9 health, not 9%? Initially I just thought you meant percent when you said 5, 9, 15 etc. :(
@@xSpeakerYT They could however just show you different percent reductions at different attack value tiers, just a sample set would be fine. Eventually players will figure out the attack values of various mobs. That said, someone will eventually builda TFD wiki with this stuff /if/ the game stays popular enough.
Could you make a video on skill power damage? Difference between "skill power" and "skill power modifier" increases, whether regular skill power, toxic skill power and tech skill power stack multiplicatively or additively, etc. I have hard time finding good resources.
great video. the only thing that’s missing is what you would recommend for the Hard Void Intercepts. does this mean i should stack all the way to 20k+ defense and like 7k fire resist for pyromancer? or should i maybe throw some health in there too?
The one you should also take into consideration for this formula as well is characters that have hp and damage reduction in their kit such as Gley and Valby.
Hi, little nitpick here. I just tested the difference of resistance against enemies. In particular, I chose a high damage attack, unlike the low damage attack you're dealing with in this video, I chose a bomber (hard mode Kingston recon). At 652.8 resistance, I took 1,723 damage. At 5,266.8 resistance, I took 1,506 damage. A 13% reduction. It seems to me to be similar to defense (but log4 instead of log2), we just don't typically stack it nearly as much (I'm estimating resistance cap around 63k). Feel free to look into it more deeply (4 components+antibodies+maximize+yellow resist%), but it's definitely not as low an amount as you're suggesting here. Still not that valuable (due to investment requirement), but it's not a value of 5 either.
wow im so glad i focused defense early at any cost like dropping damage/resistances for it. nexon needs a slap upside the head for this clarity for their stats
I wish they'd show the DR values in-game. It's so immeasurably dumb to have a generic numeral DEF and not tell the player what the actual value or scaling is. Thank you a lot for the video 👍🏻

What build you use for valby? I found her skills very underwhelming, the dot dmg is not high and casting time takes so long, killing mobs with weapon is much faster.
Great info, so it sounds like Defense is % reduction based, while Resistance is a flat reduction so meaningful against small hits but useless against large hits?
I have been looking for components with HP and Defense. Compare to when I first started playing the game. When I first started, I was looking for Defense. Not any more.

That man is cooking up w/ maths, love it, thanks a lot ! Do you think it is possible to make a true DPS calculator on spreadsheet with the maths from one of your previous videos ? I'd like to make this for the purpose of keeping track and learning more !
what might help figuring out the formula in game, is going to dungeons and starting them, leaving one enemy of the first group alive and letting him hit you once (of course, making sure same attack, etc.) and then cancelling the dungeon, that allows you to hold F2 to open a menu where you can see your Damage taken.
so are the elemental resistances just a flat -x damage reduction at certain values? so does it just reduce the incoming toxic damage by a flat 9 damage at 4k? there's a small jump in the video and it seems a small chunk is missing
My conspiracy theory is, that math teachers made this game to prove us wrong when we told them we'd never need the stuff they were teaching us.
