This was a cold pressed olive oil. Heated is not cold pressed and cold presses is the best. Stored away in a small bottle for three months in a dark place with some rosemary leaves, it’s amazing as anti ageing for skin. I love it!
He did it exactly the same way I have done.
Also olives can make your hands and nails go black but, will come off.

How was it a cold pressed oil? He had it in the pan. I guess he used the pan to heat the olives, why else would he put it in a pan?

For the benefit of Americans, all EVOO is "cold pressed". It's a legal requirement. The term 'cold pressed' means nothing. It's just advertising BS.

I seem to have missed a step here. Why did you put in a pan first? Did you heat it as I understand if there is a heating step this is not virgin olive oil?

You should pulse the blender and/or use a tamper to move the olives effectively down onto the blades...

I think he missed the second step which is a mixer in low revs for 1 hour. Also I think after the press in the left over mass you can put water in 30 degrees celciius or more and extract some more oil, water low oil above

If olive oil comes from olives, coconut oil comes from coconut and almond oil comes from almonds.
Where does _baby oil_ come from...eewww
Serious question now, would it be possible to strain the oil through say a coffee filter to remove the sediment etc?

no but the oil will congeal enough to aid in separating from the olive water.

You were meant to heat to 10 minutes on medium heat. It then removes a lot if the juice. You end up with a more pure oil. Good attempt though

Cold press is no heat involved to keep the enzymes... heat kills the enzymes. Virgin means no heat and is done with a cold press.

Those who are watching this video, obviously. This person at the start when chopping up the olives did not have black fingernails!
Olives stain and if you don’t where gloves you hands nails get stained. Some people like wearing gloves, it’s their choice.

Uhh, watch it again at the :31 mark pretty sure those finger nails were unwashed or just plain old dirty. Further in the video, sure they could be stained, but I watched it a few times and this person needs better hand wash policies. Just Sayin’
