Topeak Bike rack system

- This is the Topeak bike rack and bag. I really like the sturdiness of this system. Now they say the rack will hold up to 55 lbs. and the bag expands with built in panniers. This a good choice for the person that is not so concerned with weight as it is a bit heavier than other light weight racks.

Thanks for the review. When the bag is mounted, it hides a red light mounted on the seat tube : this is why the rear red light mount on the back of the rack is necessary.
Just bought a new giant Sedona dx. Going to go with your suggestion on this rack and bag system. Very good video!

+SkipperT Hey I love the bike. It's my favorite bike too. I bought a large frame which fits me perfectly. I had a 2011 model but it was stolen from me about six weeks ago. Giant has made some changes on the frame which I like better. The seat tube is at a better angle which brings the bottom bracket more forward for a more comfortable pedaling position. I slid the saddle all the way back on the seat stem for more comfort. I like the new frame! It's a great go anywhere bike. I like it better than my road bike. I would recommend this bike to anybody.
Great Video !!! Picked up my Giant Sedona DX Wednesday and have put 32 miles on it. Really like the way this system works and will be purchasing soon !!!!
19cohiba75 Excellent, glad to hear you got your DX and have put some miles on it. They are a smooth, fun bike to ride. I still love to ride this bike. The rack system works good for me, I recommend them however check out several and compare them,,, read reviews. May the wind be always at your back.

Looks like a great system. If you can afford it. It's around $150.00 in my area.
Just bought it. It was little tweaking and twisting for asymmetrical frame. I needed extra a pair of longitudinal supports to fit it my Cannondale trail 3 bike.
Hey, great review! What is the model of your bag, the “mtx trunkbag EXP” or DXP ?
I have a similar Topeak rack & 2 trunk bags. I use pannier baskets to carry groceries. I epoxied & screwed a Garmin 1/4 turn mount on an old reflector & screwed it on tths back so I can use my Garmin radar tail light. 5 years now , the mount has worked perfectly & so has the trunk bag & rack. Some of these bags have a 2nd zipper so the bag can expand & be deeper. Also has a shoulder strap. I carried work clothes in the bag before I retired. Besides, why worry about weight if you going to carry cargo?

Do the panniers from the DXP ever interfere with your peddling?
I like the Topeak bag, but it's not available in our country
Question - (pretend this is the version of the bag without the panniers), would you be able to use panniers that attach with straps using this exact rack and the Topeak bag?
what do you call the silver flat looking pieces that are used to attach the rack? thats what I need with the bike rack I have.
usually “fixings” for the different brands so look on eBay or amazon for tortec rack fixings,pletscher & axiom.
I’ve not come across topeak fixings as they usually do the whole kit whereas the others sell racks we then adapt for various bikes with disk brakes/no bosses and suspension . I’m having a nightmare trying to find a rack that will fit my little folder,tried Thule & it wouldn’t fit my frame,I have a Topeak roadie rx on the way,hopefully that’ll be it lol good luck

Solid review, however it’s important to note that this bag is not water proof. So if you get caught in a rain shower or down pour your items will get wet. I will place everything in ziplock bags or use an inner water proof bag. For the $$$ Topeak should step up and make this bag with an inner water proof bag. FWIW...
Most bags are made with water resistant nylon. Waterproof means you'll be dunking the bag in a pool. So yes this'll handle being in the rain for awhile, and some of these bags come with a top covering.
Also it'd take quite alot of work for these kind of bags to get soaked down to the inside, because some of these bags are more ridged, which means they have condensed foam padding inbetween the fabric layers of the bag to make it less flex when nothings in the bag, and keep it's form. So even if the top bag gets soaked, The inner layer will be less effected.
