He used deadly force to defend mere property.
A kicked car alone, especially after you have damaged their car, is not justification for use of deadly force.
He had multiple ways out. He could have reversed.
The threat level had not yet escalated to physical force against the driver.
He was still inside his car with ways out that did not involve running people over

@@ShivKumar-rm5yp surely by that logic (that if you kick someone's car) those men could have assumed this man who had just scraped their car was trying to kill them? If they had jumped out of the car and pulled out a weapon would it have been justified? Absolutely not.
Use of deadly force can easily result in attempted murder charges. This man got let off easy. Essentially, he scraped their car, refused to stop at the scene and almost ran over 2 completely unarmed men who hadn't committed any crime or even made a verbal threat against him.
His only reason was "they are men, and one of them is angry since I crashed into his car". There's literally nothing besides that.
Can you imagine if the law allowed you to run over upset drivers after you damage their car? Clearly this man got away easy. Many other police forces would say it is reasonable that if you damage someone's car they would be upset. It doesn't give you permission to run over people or drive you car towards them.
Clearly the driver was angry throughout this encounter. He was not afraid

It's one of those cases where the defence lawyer would just have to show the jury the video and their job is done. The evidence speaks for its self this was self defence.
It may surprise you, but if you're behind a safely locked door and there is an unarmed man on the other side, you being fearful doesn't actually give you the right to attack the unarmed man on the other side of the door. You should really look up the law before you do something you will regret.
Thankfully this guy's car was smashed up and the police let everyone go. Because there was wrong on both sides.

You must in fact have reasonable cause to believe you truly are in IMMEDIATE threat. That doesn't mean "well, anything could happen at any time, so I can run people over". No. It actually means something you can articulate TO THE SATISFACTION OF A COURT. Simply saying "well, yes I was safely behind a door, but doors have windows. And for all I know, maybe he would later eventually have tried hitting the window. Then after that, maybe he would eventually have tried reaching into my car. Then after that, eventually he may have hit me. So I ran him down before any of this could happen, just to prevent it. The word "immediate danger" would be brought up and you would face the slammer

I drove a porsche Cayman few years ago, not even an expensive one, I was on a high way middle lane and suddenly got tailgate by a van flashing me. I wonder if he was jealous or trying to race. I didn't even bother to react and it lost control and almost crashed, real story. Reacting just bring you down to their level, be the one controlling

The first time I watched the clip, I assumed it was an attempted mugging, not that they were simply pissed off about him contesting his space on the road. Blows my mind that there are people out there who are willing to get into physical altercations over stupid shit like this.

The law rightly places people over property though, so you don't have the right to endanger a life just because that person is damaging your property. In other words you'd want to be very careful, because it's not worth ruining your life for some scumbag damaging property which can be replaced.

As you said Ashley it’s frightening. I had a road rage incident many years ago, when the driver in front took an offence to me blowing my horn to try and stop him hitting my car. He stopped and come back to my car grabbed my throat through the window. I drove off with him still holding on but left go shortly after. My son who was in the car phoned the police who advised me to try and head for the police station as the driver of the other vehicle was following, flashing for me to stop. Luckily two police cars managed to box him in and he was arrested and changed with assault, dangerous driving, no insurance and the car was not MOTed or Taxed.
Just look at the gormless expression on that Gammon's face when hanging off the wiper. This driver didn't make a mistake he tried to save himself from a beating - so stop blaming the innocent.
Is it just me or isn't it the dash cam driver who was in the wrong? He pulled out onto a roundabout when there was clearly a car right there, then he speeds up at the exit and knocks the blue car, if he had just stayed behind the blue car once he joined the round about he would have avoided a knock and everything would have probably been fine.... I'm confused someone reply
Yeah, I agree with the first response. The mistake wasn't in his actions *after* the guys got out of the blue car, it was his aggressive driving to try and block the blue car after it had cut him up in the first place. That was a poor decision on the part of the dash cammer and what caused this incident. If he'd just hung back and let the stupid driver be stupid, they wouldn't have stopped and got out.

The advice I gave my GF about the hijacking thing... In Belfast they usually targeted people in queues, pulling the driver out, pulling a U-ee and heading away through side streets.
I told her to make as much noise and fuss as possible. Even to the point of taking her foot off the clutch and ramming the innocent car in front. That will cause a commotion enough for people to pay attention, see what is happening and even start getting out of their cars.
Finally, someone who sees events such as this and talks about how to avoid them. TH-cam is full of videos with angry people who have been involved in car incidents. They show some terrible behaviour and our young up and coming drivers see this and think it is the norm.
Imagine being in the wrong and then getting your 'boys' to do the fighting. Pathetic.

I have to disagree if being wrong as I know what happens later but tje audi had the priority as it was on the roundabout doing right turn and the guy with dash cam simply ignore them, from there it just escalated
@@krzszt The dashcam driver had priority as he was in the correct position as he was going straight. The Audi was in the position to turn right (after 12 o’ clock position on the roundabout). So no, the Audi driver was in the wrong.
Wow wasn't expecting that but I totally agree with you, Ashley. The cammer was definitely fighting for a space on the exit. Just anticipate and let it go. It's just not worth it. Unfortunately in today's world a good driver has to also be a good driver for everyone else as well.

The initial bump you hear was actually a drain on the left side next to the left curb as he exits the roundabout. You can see him go over it just after 2:57 quite clearly.

@@AwoudeX Nothing unhealthy about taking things slow and keeping your distance from other drivers at all. The only way you'll find out if someone is insured or not is when they drive off after crashing into you, leaving you with the bill. I'd rather be cautious than poor.
I knew someone who was put in a position, they had 4 people round their car trying to get in, he felt threatened and drove off hitting a couple of them in the process and quite badly injuring them. It went to court but charges against him was dropped on the account of self defence as he felt threatened by their behaviour.
Good to know self defense isn’t completely illegal in this country after all.

About 35 years ago, in Handsworth, Birmingham, I out-accelerated a car at lights (without even trying - I was not aware of him).
This infuriated the guy in the other car and he began trying to smash his car into mine.
I desperately tried to escape him - finally he got stuck and watched as I drove away around a roundabout.
He then got out of his car and shot at my car with a shotgun, which fortunately missed...
Sometimes these nutters are so crazy, you don't have to do very much to provoke them.

I just don't understand the anger people have when driving. I remember a few years ago I was in my dad's car(it was a GTR, I think there may have been some jealousy in this story hahah) with my sister and her new born. We were travelling at the 20 mph limit in a residential zone and this idiot was tailgating us for a few streets. Then he did an extremely dangerous overtake, stopped the car, got out and started walking towards us. My dad, who is in decent shape, got out the car and the little cockwomble scuttled straight right back in his car and fucked off.
I really do hope the police did something about this video, clearly they all have anger issues!

I had this but was a Karen. She was screaming at me thru her window that she was late and im selfish (for doing the 20mph speed limit, and then had to do a parallel park which i took my sweet ass time over as shed tailgated me atleast 2miles before that, flashing me like i could actually let her past, i have an suv, she had an estate car and it was a narrow road and busy on both sides lol!) I was getting out anyway, but i used to be a bouncer so i still have the swagger, left my stick in the car incase she screamed weapon and sucked up the pain, and opened my door so she couldnt get passed (1way road, other side is a cycle track but fenced off with huge dead zebras to stop cars using it) and wandered slowly to her open window and asked her wtf was her problem? I had my 2young kids in the car (hubby was getting them out while i dealt with Karen) and it turned out she lives in our block, and i took the last parking space in the layby as our car park isnt safe, and she was in a hurry to get home apparently. I pointed out the speed limit signs, called her a few colourful names, and when she threatened to slap me, i opened her car door and grabbed her hair and twisted it while whispering in her ear that i better not see her in the corridor giving me shit coz i will rip her beautiful extensions out! That was 4months ago, and now she sees me on school run or whatever and she ducks her head and tries to be invisible. While i do not condone bullying, she tried to intimidate me and got a short sharp lesson in just dont lol! Turns out shes a failing drug dealer (everyone here has their own and she cant understand why noone will trust this stranger who only moved in in feb) and thinks shes all that. She got battered by another lady for trying the same trick as me, but she threatened her with a screw driver (claiming it was to scratch the car, yeah ok lol!) And the lady actually does martial arts! Doesnt look it, but she took Karen down! Her partner filmed it all and she shared it! There is literally l reason to be a douche while driving, its bloody annoying. If u get up my arse flashing and waving and revving, im gonna take atleast 5mph off my speed!

Been there myself, being tall & built.....But then it hit me, one day it will be 2 or 3 cockwombles, & one or more will have a blade or a screwdriver. Today I would only get out as a last resort..... as pant wettingly satisfying as it was!

I heard a guy talking about one time he made a mistake while driving and almost caused an accident. He said that when the other driver drew up along side him afterwards, the other driver gave him a big thumbs down and that that had upset him more than any road rage did! I kind of want to try it if someone does something stupid near me while I'm driving but I've always got my 2 yr old daughter with me these days so I just let things slide, the safest place for stupid drivers to be is far away from us!
"You just don't know who's gonna be in the car next to you", but if it's an old Audi with blacked out rear windows ... you can take a pretty good guess

Telling myself the car is stolen helps me stay calm with aggressive and dangerous drivers. I lost it too easily prior.
As an addition to my last comment - I think being highly sensitive to and hanging back from certain models of car on the UK roads and the likely driving styles that accompany them (i.e. aggression and showing off) is a good form of defence.

I would have let the car in. Just let it go and karma will get them. However if I decided to copy this driver, once they kicked my car and threatened my life, I would have run them over. Protection of my property and my life by any means necessary.

Its seemed a safe running over. If he wanted to do damage then getting some speed up and slamming the anchors on would have been a different story. The real lesson is defensive safe driving rather than confrontation.
Big credit to the cammer for sharing, a really good lesson on how things escalate.

That is probably a good part of why they police took no action on that, it was clearly reasonable force with the intent to effect an escape from threat of harm. Had the driver floored it and hit the brake the law would probably be far less favourable. The moment it starts looking more like you were out for revenge the CPS probably are going to opt for prosecution and the reasonable force element of your defence is on very shaky ground.
Funny how he thought he was the toughest bloke in the universe till he was clinging onto a bonnet. You could see the surprise and fear in his eyes. Still not enough to put them off the chase but it was a nice moment.
Growing up where I grew up, you learned quick that you don't know who your threatening so be decent or at minimum just ignore people. I've tried teaching this to my partners 18 year old brother, they both grew up in a teane tiny village on the Devon/Cornwall boarder and he acts like the big bad. He didn't get it for 2 years till I took him back to where I grew up, 2 mistakes/incidents later, he got the point. Now he mostly treats people he dosnt know decently.

The fact that after being run over the guy rather than just slide off tries to hold onto the wiper shows the savage behaviour...wanting to hurt the driver or damage his car.
In my professional life, I work with 'troubled' individuals, slightly younger than the ones in the video but just as likely to engage in that kind of behaviour. There is no doubt that since the beginning of the first lockdown their trigger points are much lower and their restraint has diminished. Many people have commented on the lower standards of driving since the pandemic began but imagine that overlaid onto an already violent tendency. Avoid confrontation, that's my advice; it's not the same world it was even a year ago - and it was a risky move even then.
A year later... I noticed overall behaviour on roads is slowly improving, and I do suspect this is directly related to the recent hikes in petrol prices.

few years ago I had a Albanian guy try to jack me on the M27. Was stopped at the lights on the round-a-bout and he jumped out the passanger door beside my car, opened my door and put his foot in the car and started trying to rag me out and yelled at me to get out or he'll slit my throat. I simply dropped the handbrake and pulled forwards full speed and locked the steering wheel to the left. Sent him flying to the road after he lost balance and scraped his face on the road surface. I called 999 while they chased me on the motorway, flashing me and swerving alongside my car. Was told, and I kid you not. "Pull over and try to get a photograph of them. When you get time, bring it to the station. Its not an emergency."
I’m glad the Police saw it the cammer’s point of view and they were trying to get away from a threatening situation using (what I’d say) is reasonable force but it does prove the point that if other people want to be idiots, you should adjust your driving accordingly and make allowances for their terrible driving
I think it is important to note that the cammer stopped to give a chance for the person to get off... and was audible on cam (even if the person couldn't actually hear the driver) with quite a good quality. If you had a poor quality cam, no sound and you didn't stop... the police would probably prosecute you.
When someone sustains an injury it makes a difference even if the circumstances were the same. Also relevant to note is the person hit into showed no aggression unlike the other person that kicked the car. Although unlikely, the second person could have been intending to stop the first person from attacking you... and that possibility would be an option in court if he sustained serious injuries or died as a result of the incident.
So in this case with the chase that followed afterwards, it being recorded all on cam and phone call to the police it was an easy case, however, should the cammer went full acceleration instead with the person rolling off and hitting his head and no following chase, the traffic cops would have put this down to road rage as a motive, made an immediate arrest and prosecuted the cammer...
I think that is why it is important not to engage with these idiots on the road... 5 minutes from the initial incident to this follow up could have gone a whole lot worse and adrenaline and fear isn't going to help you get out of that situation.

To be honest I had an incident happen to me about forty years ago on a deserted back road during the night driving an old ford pickup .. A guy was concealed in a hedge. He dived out with his arms spread out a few yards in front of me. I had two choices, politely stop or put my foot on the floorboards. I chose the latter. The look on his face was exactly the same as that guy in the video. Thankfully he managed to jump clear with seconds to spare. He would have only seen the headlights so it could have been impossible for him to know if it was a man or woman driving. Fear makes you do things you would never normally do. I often reflect on that incident and it still stresses me out.
The look on that guys face just before the car hits him is priceless. He knows the car is going to and there is nothing he can do about it and the shocked look he had once on the bonnet.
This is very well said. It’s the same as if you’re in a pub, high street, football match etc. Clowns like the people in the car in front are looking for trouble. They go above and beyond to look for confrontation. Don’t ever give them the satisfaction. Simply smile and move on and live your better life.

Had to come back to this video after a similar situation today! Horned at a van driver who was clearly on his phone and as a result was drifting to the right with the intention of alerting him and he slams the brakes gets out the van and tries to attack me by reaching into my car (I had put the window down to speak to him) so I just put my foot down and dragged him with me as a result
The only mistake he made is not running over the first guy coming at him. In the US they would have been shot.

The incident went from being at a roundabout, to being in fear of his life within 15 seconds while being in control of a vehicle. All of which was not of his making based on this video. Hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Is it an RS4? I can’t tell for certain but if it is, an RS4 with >2 male adults, rear passenger hand out the window, driving like that is a massive red flag.

The police are cracking down on bad drivers using dashcam footage submissions. I've been reporting bad drivers mainly those who think they are saving time weaving between lanes or queue jumping. At the moment I have 4 people prosecuted now. It really has helped me be more passive when I get some fool cutting in front of me as I know now the police will issue them a fine or points

I say this all the time when I watch ‘dash cam videos’, when there is a 50/50 or someone in the wrong lane etc (the majority of the time) the dash cam vehicle accelerates into the hazard, makes it worse and claims to be the victim. Happens all the time.

Scary stuff! In a situation like that, my chauffeur driving training kicks in, I would leave a bigger gap between me and the threat car, I would be very aware of what was immediately behind me and to each side, if needed and safe to do so, I would reverse and pass them.

I think people are missing how quickly this happened, it looked like the aggressively driven car is going right, because it doesnt pull in to the left when it has a chance then swings left, not even that quickly like a proper boy racer, so our protagonist doesnt have time to think, he is already on top of the other car, his option was to brake hard in my opinion, hanging back and smoother sounding options are off the table.

Not excusing the aggression shown by the two guys in the Audi, which was completely out of order, but I thought we were supposed to give way to vehicles coming from the right so rather than accelerating into trouble and incurring that bump/scrape shouldn't the guy with the camera have allowed them the right of way? @@pimpbuster7865 Yes, the driver with the cam was in the wrong for the driving faults. He should have given way at the roundabout (looks like he was just blindly following the guy in front of him), and then he should have slowed right down at 0:38. He also should have braked much earlier at 0:46. But obviously if you attack the car and try to beat the guy up it turns into a much more serious issue rather than a scratch on a car.

Happened to me, was tailed by a car for miles in my old van so couldn't out run them.
Twice round a roundabout etc still there. No phones in those days. In the end went to petrol station.

Glad that misunderstanding got sorted out. Good tip on the roundabout though, I've done that when a car was tailing me literally 2-3 foot from my bumber in a 40. Just do another loop around back to the exit you want and let them get ahead. Funnily enough I caught them soon anyway a the traffic lights and they were just tailing the next speed limit abiding car, no help for some people.

It was very scary at the time, I was on a duel carriageway, had stopped at a burger van for lunch, I has gone inside my big van to check my load and noticed he was watching me.
As soon as I pulled off he followed me. I thought I'd drive at full speed ( about 90 ) but couldn't shake him, slowed right down he was definitely following me.
Got arrested at the garage, about four cop cars suddenly screamed into garage lights and sirens blazing !
I put in a complaint but of course nothing happened.

I driving home from hols in my camper with my dogs and 10 year old daughter at 1 am in the morning, we exited a roundabout onto a dual carrigeway and was in the outside lane as that was the exit as dictated by solid white line, a hot hatch came tearing up my inside and passed, I never flashed, gestured or anything. When I passed back to the inside lane this numpty then slowed down to 15 MPH in fornt of me, I just held my distance back and he sped off, he then slowed down and did the same I never reacted with my daughters safety in mind and this carried on for like 5 miles until he got bored and drove off. Was quiyte sacrey at the time and I just wish I had a dash cam to give to Police , I'm quite proud of the fact I never took the bait and reacted especially with my daiguter asleep in the passenger seat. I now own a dash cam, there are some right loonies out there as this clip shows !

You are right Ashley, don’t get involved. It did look like they were under the influence of something stronger than lucozade. Drugs and driving is very common now and with the added danger they are carrying weapons its just not worth it. My tip is to make sure you, yourself are calm before your journey. It might help you stay calm and collected during any dangerous encounter with another motorist

I have only had my licence since February and when I drive the hospital. I get overtaking atleast twice on the way there by impatient drivers. I have P Plates , people have no patience for new drivers at all . I just let them overtake I have a front and rear dashcam so if they hit me I have it on film if they try and blame me
Ps and Ls attract bad drivers like a magnet. As soon as they're gone you'll see a difference in the other road users.
I'd take off the P plates immediately. They will make things worse for you. Some drivers see them as a challenge to be as massive a knob as they can be. You don't need them.
I passed back in December and owned my car since the end of January. Didn't plan on having P plates on to begin with but I had some as I have a black box and wasn't fully familiar with my work route at the time. Took them off after I finished furlough in June and haven't put them on since, not like people actually account for L or P plates anyway as you'll likely still be overtaken or tailgated by idiots who don't want to stick to the speed limits. Most of the time I've just been tailgated, not really been overtaken unless it's on a dual carriageway which I usually take to get to work anyway, it can especially be a problem when you're in a 20 zone because it's so painfully slow but it happens honestly.

I'm a novice driver (1 year experience as of 7th of November) and have had such an experience already. Lesson learned. Guess part of me driving in my new vehicle also played a part in the incident. But yeah, rallied with a taxi driver that tried to even block me in, thank god that the car accelerates quick enough, it's what saved me from him blocking me in. It went on for 5 minutes until he got really pissed off and decided to speed up and just passed me. IT IS NEVER WORTH IT !!

a few rules of driving :
- Always drive your doors locked at any time.
- Keep a 2m (6-7ft) distance with the vehicule in front of you at a sopt.
- Keep defense weapon easilly and quickly reachable from both hands. They must be keept unseen from the outside.
- Have your cell phone linked via bluetooth to your car. You'll be able to phone the police while escaping the punks.
- Always full your tank when you reaching 50-55% percent of its capacity. In this video, the situation did last 30 more minutes. Running out of gas without having any weapon to defend yourself means your death.
- Always maintain your vehicule. Check water, oil, tire pressures, etc. Same reason as for the gas tank.
I'd have at least got him under the front nearside wheel.
By making that statement, however facetious, you lay yourself open to a charge of attempted murder if you ever do carry out your threat. Your social media history can become part of a case against you since it could demonstrate intent. The cammer was escaping, not trying to harm his attacker.

@András Torma Fiat 500's are cheap on insurance so people drive them just as bad as Vauxhall Corsa's. In the 3 years of driving mini's don't crop up as much as the german cars. As soon as I see one behind me I'm always watching them like a hawk. 30 seconds later they always do a dodgy overtake, speed and then end up at the same set of lights as me anyway 🤣🤣

Having been guilty of similar behaviour to the cammer in the past I agree that it is not worth it, but I do sympathise. The real question here IMHO is whilst it's clearly best to let it be......by not standing up to this kind of behaviour....is there a risk that this may embolden the perpetrators? Is there a way of being non confrontational and ensuring that there are some consequences for aggressive driving? My son asked me this question and I didn't have an answer. Yes, I am aware this video is quite old but I would appreciate any comments from anyone.
I would say that, sooner or later, the chavs and the boyracers will run out of luck, I have seen that happen many times. One thing I have noticed about those trying to be confrontational and/or dangerous, is that they stop as soon as I point the finger towards the camera they failed to notice in the first place...
I have one story of a local chav going flat out everywhere like a maniac. One morning he woke up to find his car covered in exterior house paint. White, the thick type of paint.
In this video, the cammer tried to outrace an Audi RS towards an imaginary space. Then he found out it contained a bunch of feral idiots. Like your son, I asked this question to another keen driver and friend about what to do in a situation of danger. He said the option is ''evasive manoeuvre, foot down get some space''

I immediately thought it was a carjacking. When both the driver and passenger got out and looked really aggressive, it was so much more than the driver reasonably asking for an apology or explanation for what had happened.
I'm just a minute in and I'm like 100% justified...
