    As someone who covers the Panthers daily, as I watched the other teams in the playoffs, I began to realize just how spoiled we are in terms of how this team plays defense. I would watch other teams play and think that D is crap, only to listen to fans and media opine about how that team played well on D that night. Before this series Oilers fans told me that we did not know what we were in for, that Edmonton played Florida's exact style of defense and could match us. I get it, as last year we thought we were beating Vegas when we in fact, were not. The buy in from every player, coupled with Bob, and the ridiculous advantage we have with Lundell at 3C is what has led to this, alone with the steady hand of Paul Maurice. Hell even I have been changed by Maurice. This is my 8th season of covering the team and my emotions were always all over the place in regard to the teams play. Now when the team is slumping I just casually wait for them to come out of it and start playing well again. Throw in the best GM in the game despite what NHL media votes, and we Panthers fans are lucky as hell and know it.

      @teapea8184 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +10

      We are lucky we are the fans of this team. But luck has little to do with what is happening. Game one was the Bob show. Since then it's been a defence masterclass. And capitalizing on chances with brutal efficiency. I'd argue Panthers have looked worse than they actually are and Bob has had to do more, because they have to work so little to get ahead. And it's not even on Skinner. Edmonton just has such a bad coverage in their own end and the Nurse fumble could happen to anyone really. Just funny it happened to 9.5M player whose clearly suffering from too much responsibility which is dragging him down in a mountain of pressure.
      You can't fully stop McDavid, but Panthers are limiting him to have fairly little chances compared to every other team so far. I still think we haven't seen the true Panthers yet, because frankly, they haven't had to. Just somehow they find themselves in a lead that is too hard to fail from and they kill the game rather than are active. Game 2 was the only game that they played like what I'd say is their true identity, but after they got those goals in the 3rd, they just killed the game again.

      @@teapea8184 I've been watching literally all of these playoffs and I thought what you thought at first. But upon a bit further reflection, I think I'd give McD and the Oilers a bit more credit and say the Cats are a bit less flawless defensively and have had more lapses this series beCAUSE of the speed of the Oilers especially with McD.
      But as I said after Game 1, if the team/D have a mental lapse or make an error then Bob is there for them. When Bob makes an error (he's made 2-3 in both Game 1 and this game), then his team is there to box out and clear the puck. These two parts seldom make their errors at the same time. It's really good teamwork all around. Props to you guys - I had Dallas over Cats in the Finals but Cats def deserve it more than any of these 16 IMO.

      As a canuck fan this is super frustrating because we were playing D like this for the vast majority of the season but somehow stopped for game 6 and 7. The Canucks weren't THAT injured and really should have won that series. Silovs was playing well enough. They just tightened up in games 6 and 7 and to the Oilers credit they actually played with some structure in those two games. Something which they didn't do the vast majority of the season.
      I've said all season long if you just "out discipline" the Oilers you can beat them. It's a shame because the Canucks beat the Panthers both times this season and matched up really well against them. Presumably would have had Demko back too. Would have been a great series.

    I hope analysts will one day see beyond just Bob's skill in the net and understand that all defense wins championships, and goalies are defenders, too. The Panthers domination on the PK in this SCF illustrates the dominance as a defensive unit. They're insanely good all around, but commentator bias shows itself saying, how the other team is just making mistakes or can't get it past Bob and how they should execute XYZ to win. Well, every team has struggled to succeed against the Panthers this year, especially in the playoffs. If the Panthers don't let them do XYZ because of their defense, then they're the dominant team. Period. Keep them underrated, it's a sweeter win each time.
