Oh, and Stephen A, that lack of urgency you saw from Edmonton the last few minutes was because those guys were running on empty at that point. They were out of energy.
Here’s my question, what would Bob have to do to match McDavid’s achievement? There’s an emphasis on offensive stats and achievements, but defensive efforts are always looked at secondary because they’re harder to quantify, unless you’re a goalie. So what stat would he need to achieve to match McDavid’s figures?
Согласен с экспертами конн смайт трофи не должен выдаваться за достижение каких либо рекордов в плэй офф, этот приз для игрока сделавший самый большой вклад в победу своей команды в Кубке Стенли.
Bob got a lot of flak for game 4, 5, 6 put came through in stunning fashion where it really matters - game 7; as a great goalie should, shutting out all of Edmonton's chances except for a 1 pass breakaway goal.
In the 7th game of the 2024 Stanly Cup. Conner McDavid was a no show.... Also, I couldn't believe the Oilers pulled their goalie, with only a minute remaing.... .
If McDavid didn't have those numbers in Game 4 and 5, are we still talking about the Conn Smythe? Add up Games 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7. You giving him that award after those games? If Oilers win, 100% McDavid should have. But because it was the Panthers, it should have been Barky. No doubt.
I get PK's point about how difficult it is to win the Stanley Cup. But at the end of the day, all everyone will remember is how "McJesus" had zero points when it mattered. If this was NBA or NFL and LeBron or Brady had a bad game in the title game, everyone would be ripping them a new one. So it's fair for Shannon Sharpe and Stephen A to lean into McDavid regardless of what the hockey expert says.
Bump it. McDeeznuts can take that paper weight. Seems shaky that he ‘earned’ the Conn Smythe using the same 3 game sample size they used to NOT give it to Bob.
I liked that point: in the decisive game Bob stood on his head, whereas McDavid did not deliver, point blank. Psychologically, Bobrovsky was better than McDavid. Sergey had the winner's mindset while Connor didn't.
I think one major thing is it is easier to play defensive hockey with the lead. Panthers couldn’t play their game the last few games because they couldn’t score first, I think that was a huge difference maker in game 7.
That's not true. Edmonton scored first in game 2 and Florida beat them 4-1. What makes Florida's so good is their heavy use of the forecheck. Their entire offensive and defensive output centers around the pressure from the forecheck. They don't score then sit back and kill clock. They're constantly pressuring their opponents whether they're winning or losing.
Crosby won his first cup because of Max Talbot, he was out for a majority of Game 7 after he got injured and had little to no impact. Hockey is a team sport.

We should WANT the sport to grow as hockey fans. I’m glad they have PK on cause atleast he knows what the hell hes talking about
Martin Brodeur got screwed out of the Conn Smythe and he had a record number of playoff shutouts 2003, the has shutouts Gm 1, 2 and Gm 7. The Wayne Gretzky of goalies ...got screwed out of a Conn Smythe 2003
Anyone would have shut out Anaheim in those games. Dude was only facing like 15 shots
As for me, Datsyk was much better as McDonald's😅😅
Great comments, McJesus can have a few bad games and win the CONN SMYTHE but, BOB has a few bad games and he's simply kicked to the curb. But, I'll take the Cup, thank you FL Panthers!
Connsolation Smythe
Shannon should have kept that same energy for every final lost by Lebron...
PK is a legend in his own mind
McDavid did not choose to be shut down in game 7, Florida shut him down! Period!
Oh, and Stephen A, that lack of urgency you saw from Edmonton the last few minutes was because those guys were running on empty at that point. They were out of energy.
They were done. Goodnite Edmonton....
I thought Bobrovsky or Barkov must have been awarded an MVP Conn Smythe trophy.
“All the cups are in the US”…..it’s called the National Hockey League 😂
PK is a Mcghost apologist.
Plain and simple.
McJesus couldn’t deliver them when it mattered the most.
Them calling connor mcdavid mcjesus is actually so blasphemous
Согласен с экспертами конн смайт трофи не должен выдаваться за достижение каких либо рекордов в плэй офф, этот приз для игрока сделавший самый большой вклад в победу своей команды в Кубке Стенли.
Bob got a lot of flak for game 4, 5, 6 put came through in stunning fashion where it really matters - game 7; as a great goalie should, shutting out all of Edmonton's chances except for a 1 pass breakaway goal.
And the Corey Perry curse continues. If your team has a chance, DO NOT have Perry!
You can’t ignore a league for their season in its entirety and then be taken serious on any finals commentary.
PK is on point! no pun
No doubt.
I could listen to this all day. Love this show!!
Love to see more of ESPN talking hockey. That’s progress, good!
What? Hockey on a stephen and shannon show?! What is happening? Pat mcafee has really gotten this hype train going
As great as connor is, he ain't a Sidney Crosby.....Crosby would have finished the deal
McDave didn't do anything 5 of 7 games. Bobby Bobby Bobby!!!
Bobby got blasted in game 4 and ran out of the game.
@happybeingmiserable4668 I filed a McDave missing report with the police station. Heard he's on his way to Edmonton, let me know if you see him.
He scored 0 points in 3 of the 7 games
One game he didn’t even have a single shot on net
PK is a very patient man. Good work with those two!
Love to hear hockey & especially FLORIDA PANTHERS hockey talked on ESPN! These playoffs were incredible & what a dramatic SCF. #GoCats 🐆🐆🐆
Cmon PK! Flips his pick more than a McDonalds flips burgers! LFG SUNRISE!!!! The cup is home in South Florida.
The goalie is your best penalty killer, but OVERALL Forsling was their best d-man and should have been in contention for the Norris
Of course they lead the show with “Conor McDavid wins Conn Smythe!” Lol
Bump it. McDeeznuts can take that paper weight. Seems shaky that he ‘earned’ the Conn Smythe using the same 3 game sample size they used to NOT give it to Bob.
@@mmoran0905 I mean, he was pretty great for the whole playoffs. I think he deserved it.
@@Wayf4rerIs playoffs the sample size? I would venture to say that Bob had just as impressive a post season.
@@mmoran0905did bob break any playoff records?
@@Wayf4rer so was Bob
Congratulations home team💕
McDavid is the Dan Marino of hockey
Nhl, hire these guys. Id love to hear these guys after games all next season. That outro was awesome!!!
PKs analysis was gold 🥇
McDavid Draisatil and hypeman were MIA
All ten of their fans are thrilled.
Man imagine PK Subban being the most correct in the room - "It's not his time" is a great take about CMD - i also think he needs to pay his dues.
Finally! Took them long enough.
At least PK knows what he's talking about
Crosby won his first cup because of Max Talbot, he was out for a majority of Game 7 after he got injured and had little to no impact. Hockey is a team sport.
Hey guys, tips from a soccer fan in the US, if you want to grow the sport, acting like an a**hole by saying “they don’t know about anything hockey, you don’t grow the sport, youre gatekeeping it 😉
The wall named BOB🥅
Thanks Shannon You the Best sport Analyst , even tho you don’t Cover NhL you have the knowledge to accept the MVP award was robbed from BoB, no losing team deserves any Trophy
ESPN is the worst in hockey broadcasting. PK and Messier aside, everyone else involved is absolutely horrible
Spoken like a true Soiler fan boy.
@@rafaeloliva6425 no one on that panel knows a thing about hockey except for PK. ESPN's play by play comentation is horrible! They natter on and on about everything except what's going on on the ice. And, don't get me started about how they put the names of players over their head during power plays. ESPN tries to dumb everything down.
Messier is the worst. Not sure what broadcast in fantasyland you’re watching.
@@JAYYVOO I said "PK and Messier aside". They are the only good parts of what ESPN is trying to do.
he still walks on water it’s just frozen is a cold line
PK reaching Steven A about hockey. Hockey is a team game. What other team sport has line changes every one or two minutes? For the record, NHL players are crazy fit and doing a double shift at the end of 7 games series is asking for the world.
Can we turn Shannon and Steven A into hockey fans please? Would be cool for them to talk hockey more
First take never talk about the NHL or hockey because I know they don’t know half of players except for the guys who are at ESPN who played the game at the highest level
McDavid had 42 pts in these playoffs...hes MVP
First my Celtics win the chip and now my Panthers. What a year!!!!!
Oilers gave up 2 minutes before the final whistle
It’s funny cause these guys don’t really know what they’re talking about (though they’re right McDavid and Draisaitl needed to be better in game 7) but I’m ultimately glad they’re talking about hockey on these kinds of shows cause it helps grow the sport . We should want the sport to grow as hockey fans. It’s the greatest sport that humans ever came up with and anyone who starts paying attention to it eventually comes to that conclusion . There’s just nothing better. And I love all sports but hockey is next level. We should want it to grow and that’s what being talked about on these shows does
Elite Florida Panthers.
Does yelling as loud as you can make your sports take stronger? My column:
The better team won last night. Key word is “TEAM”
McDavid shook off his defenders on at least 8 instances but the puck just didn't end up in the right spot. Hockey is a game of millimetres not inches.
you can’t call him the best player in the world until he wins a cup!
As a Devils fan and a neutral observer, I am okay with McDavid getting the Conn Smythe. 42 points in the playoffs is insane. However if you want to make the argument that it should have gone to a player on the Panthers like Bobrovsky or Barkov I understand. Lord knows Marty got robbed of the Conn Smythe in 2003.
NHL script writers wrote up a ridiculously cheesy ending. But business is business and the league can’t have a cancer tumor in south Florida like it was a couple of years ago.
I think McDavid was just gased out! Please don't take anything away from this great player!
PK is the GOAT at Hockey commentary, I could listen to him for hours
What were you watching, dude!!
Shannon shredded him.
Did you not see where Shannon had him studdering?
Just bring up the 2017 Stanley Cup and he'll be crying and making all the excuses he can like all them Nashville fans
