You see that all the time in pro matches - winning player winning easily loses focus before the match is actually won, and the losing player with pressure off is able to relax and raise their game. Look at last 2 Alcaraz matches.
@@NamesAreRandom I completely agree - it doesn’t really show what the losing player is capable of though because the winning player isn’t playing at their best

That aggressiveness you showed in the second set in particular was phenomenal. As you already noted, if you could find that from the start of matches, you are definitely capable of beating guys of this level. Can't wait to see what comes next for you!
Break Point was a fail. It could have focused on the detail and difficulty of the tour. Would have been good to follow at Challenger level as a lot of incredible players that never get publicity or interest
Overall games, namely fitness, balance, and shots are improving. Only thing you are missing from your games to go to top 500 in atp is backhand . That’s it. You can make it! I’m confident that you do.
His two hander looks very solid to me. What issues do you see with it? The slice is probably a bigger weakness. But in this match it was just some poor execution, lack of aggression & occasionally a poor decision. This is probably the main difference from a pro in my opinion, and probably fixable just like the slice. Perhaps more aggression on the second serve too but still with enough top spin for consistency.
@@ST-ek6lf Not always on the serve but your right on big forehands. Most of them also play with intent that is not just to rally but to execute as soon as they can
@@AGAU1022 The biggest issue I see is his backhand return . On the baseline, he often times use open stance backhand even when he can step in with the right foot. And when he steps in with the right foot, he mistimes the tempo. Tactically, his backhand has no consistent pace, spin and depth to control the game. Felix knows that . And that’s why he uses forehand to compensate it. But to me, it looks like he is using forehand too often and giving the opponent deuce side space to attack. Yes it’s nice if he improves slice as well. But again, he needs to have bigger forehand and service game if he uses backhand slice so often.
Nice match. I played d1 college tennis. I just wanted to give you some advice. For me you need more space on both sides when hitting the ball. This will help you generate more easy power. When looking at the both you, your opponent was generating his power much easier and efficiently. With a bit more space you will have better leverage and find it easy to hit stronger building shots. When you are hitting forehand’s on the run this is an example of you having more space and generating easier power. You need to have the similar spacing when hitting your building shots from the back so your can start to control the middle of court better and dominating the rallies.
Nice work Felix! I actually managed to make it all the way to the last round of qualies (3rd round) in the W15 here in Sharm El Sheick. I unfortunately just lost my match today but seeing you keeping a positive attitude really inspired me. I guess you just have to trust the process. Keep up the nice work! 🤝🏽💪🏽🔥
Great momentum at the end of the match, Felix! Take that confidence boost with you to the tournaments to come! Rooting for you and positive that this will be a really great year for you!
Honestly, the most notable difference here is your fitness. You barely looked out of breath, you were quick, and your shot is do much stronger. With just more matches you're set dude, good job 👍
I think you summed it up. Playing with freedom and without fear is most probably the toughest thing to do in matchplay. Letting it all go and trusting yourself is imperative to performing to your highest potential. Of course, this is far easier said than done. It was obvious once you 'let go' and trusted yourself you could have won that match, your game style relies upon aggressive, offensive tennis, this will allow you to win matches for the future. Let go, be free out there, fly like a bird in the wind and keep your mind clear of any distractions. Success is only just around the corner.
Felix, I love your attitude, and even tho u were frustrated u were doing your best to not show it, and just keep fighting. I've told myself that a few times. A couple of years ago, i was down 2-6, 2-5 and fought back to win that set and eventually the match, because i was able to make my opponent nervous like u said. Another great vid, keep up the amazing work! U have helped my game so much!!
You got this man. I have always known it's in you and finally you started showing it in the end. But this is not the end...it's the beginning. Your perseverance is taking you there. Keep up the awesome work Felix!! We're proud of you! Cheers! M
Great video. The moment you’re talking to yourself in any negative or judgmental way, or physically doing something that looks like you’re not happy with yourself, then it’s just not possible to play at your highest capabilities. It’s beyond mental and you have to separate your ego mind from your inner self that knows what to do…your inner self from all of your tennis experiences already knows what to do. Once you focus on the mental game as much as the physical game, I can see you playing to your full capacity. The next point…bravo to all you’ve achieved and for much more to come 🎾🥇
you're such a great mover felix! the point construction is there, the forehand is there, the tennis IQ and fitness is there. I hope it all comes together and you can win a final one day!
This match just shows again that you're almost there - all you're missing is the mental strength to play your game all the way through. If just a couple points had gone differently, you could would won one of those sets or at least gone to a tiebreaker.
Great revelation at the end of that match! You said you were "Frustrated" a lot and that's a big red flag. If you can really play with heart every point from the start to finish to combat that frustration, you are GOING to win more. Minimizing the let downs (Ie. "frustration") clearly allows your ABILITIES to come to the surface and your focus to key in. Super proud of your awareness and dedication! Go Felix!
As you said, to the end you had the right spirit. That was a winning mindset. You were one with the game (in flow) and aggressive and confident in the right way 💪🏻👏🏻👍🏻
good match felix i think what i pick up on in some of these matches is you seem far too tight and tense which is understandable. In the second set you had nothing to loose and really have the game to beat this level player. That may come with time and tournaments but i think alcaraz said recently he doesn't mind losing the point or the match if he is playing the game he wants to
well played Felix, really kept your head up in the last set against the score, I had my first tournament experience last weekend and well, I did loose the debut match but its curious that some of the things you went throught were the same things that happened to me in my match, I will learn from you and this experience so thank you a lot, you will come back stronger !!!! 🇨🇱
Hey Felix, as a former competitive football player, allow me to share my experience with prematch mindset - overthinking before a match was always my worst enemy, and activating that free, instinctual brain that allowed me to play naturally and confidently always came out best if I kept my mind preoccupied with anything outside of sport up until it was time to warm up. It kept the brain active and firing, but didn’t let it go down into a path of overthinking my movements, and killing that game instinct when it counted. Your technique is great, and as you know best, your mind is the next part to master! If you think it could be a way to unlock a new lvl of success as it did for me, give it a try sometime! Love the vids!
Man, those forehands are real bombs plus i really loved the touch you had at the net when you played drop shots. Keep it up man I belive in you! Love the videos.
People don't seem to understand that Musitelli isn't some random +1000 ranked guy. He, at that moment, was probably the strongest opponent Felix had faced in his life. This guy just beat Tabur and McHugh in straight sets and if you followed ITF tennis you'd know how impressive that is. After beating Felix he went on to beating some more really strong guys like Carr (Top 700 and Ireland's #1 player), Nedelchev (great talent who has one of the most ITF wins this year) and Andrade (Florida Gators legend with the most singles win in their history). Felix did a great job of hanging in there
Love your videos. You are so positive even though you struggle just to get into these low level tournaments. You are better when you play to win instead of playing not to lose. Please bring that level to your next match. Cant wait to see how you do when you play aggressive from the start. Stay strong
Keep up the grind and love the effort Felix! Definitely went for your shots at times but rust is rust, you'll get the timing back and your game mentality &focus back soon. Onto the next tournament 🎉
Huge improvements Felix, now you go in the correct way. Just work a little more the mental and thats all! See you soon in Spain ITFS, want to meet you!
Musitelli was the toughest opponent you could have faced in qualifying. We will see him soon in the top 500-700. He almost has won the tournament. So, it was a good match from you! I think we will see you soon in the top 1500 and who knows, maybe in the top 1000 one day. Good luck!
Congratulations Felix for your effort. In my opinion, the only thing that is missing form your game(except of mentally improving) is your defensive slice to move your opponent more when you are in a defensive position and of course a deeper backhand
Great seeing James B from the Sutton Tennis Academy (as it used to be called). Seeing all these people going on to bigger and better things is a wonderful outcome. Keep grinding guys! Just watching the match, and have some technical feedback. Serving: When you really chased the first serve, you had some good success with it. I don't know if the surgery is preventing you from playing at 100% or not, but I think if you can get 60-70% of first serves in, and those are actually FIRST serves, then this will really help you. Depth: The points where you got into trouble, quite often involved you hitting to around the service line or shorter. I know you did a piece at Mouratoglou's working on depth, so can only really suggest you actively incorporate this into your training sessions. Angles: When you hit solidly / confidently towards the angles, you put your opponent under pressure. Actively train for this. Groundstrokes: I noticed you really running around your backhand. Yes, I heard in your commentary that you weren't feeling it on the day. Understandable. I would suggest you think about incorporating a few different types of backhands in your toolkit. Not only the standard rally shot, but include a heavy topspin (Spanish moonball style). At the very least, this will push your opponent back in the court. If you have to hit 20 of these, who cares? Wait till your opponent drops one short, then attack. Overall: Play more matches. A host of benefits, which I won't go into, because you know the answer to why. Good luck with it!
Tough luck Felix. Ive played D1 college tennis in the USA, and we do get a LOT of matches under our belt over the 4 years and its quite an experience. But as a follower, Ive seen a tendency of you playing a bit to passive in the beggining only to turn up a notch when loosing. Maybe try to go with an aggressive mindset from the get go next match? You olan on playing club matches and money tournaments? It can do you good to play 3-5 per week during a month
Hey Felix. Great first tournament back. After watching the match vs. Musitelli, I could see that all of your strokes are very good. On the forehand, keep your right hand moving forward into the shot, and use that hand to drive the rest of your body into your recovery, just like what I'm seeing with the topspin backhand. Musitelli hit many uncomfortable shots to handle throughout the match. Also, if you're worried about your level dipping during the match, keep yourself prepared with simple carb and/or protein related food and/or drinks throughout the match, as it will help with your overall energy levels. If you do these things, your opponents will be in trouble more often during the points, which can further open opportunities for ghosting the net plays to become more effective.
Great Felix, I think that to start winning this matches you have to believe more in your tennis, you have trained so much to be at this point and only your mentality its going to get you where you want. I feel like sometimes you are “practicing” with your opponent, but when you rip the ball it often ends with you closing points at the net.
How do you ref the game when there is no umpire? Does some people not “cheat” and how do you score the ball when it’s close to the lines? And do you then communicate often with the opponent and talk about what the score is? So nice to see you journey, keep it going Felix💪🏽
Love your dedication and your videos Felix, well done! In my opinion you need to work on getting heavier shots, not just the flat forehand winners but just heavier shots in general. Try going into a match with the idea of being aggressive and going for your shots form the beginning to the end. But overall keep working at it and you will figure out what is best for yourself. Best of luck for the future
Your level is there mate, great 2nd set fight back - if can start with that mindset you'll be firing (maybe need to change starting mindset to "I have nothing to lose" to free your game)
Well done Felix! Was a tough game, I think your game quality was bigger but he made less errors. I observed that he did not like to run much as you and every time you used slices or shorter balls you won the points. Perhaps varying more your weapons in the game can be good idea. Keep the hard work, the evolution is clear from our perspective. :)
Felix gr8 stuff!!!! You did give him a lot of points in this game. Mentally u weren’t there, but I genuinely believe that you have better skills than your opponent!!! Gotta work on your decision making and reduce your unforced errors. I know talk is easy, but Felix YOU HAVE THE SKILLS!!!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Really love seing this videos. It looks like in this kind of matchup you would really beneficiat of a more net game, in my opinion thats on of your best weapons. Keep grinding
WOW! Felix has improved. Since your BH is a weakness, why not slice every groundstroke BH cross-court, then alternate and slice up the line. I saw you did it a couple of times. It may be an effective way to hide a weakness and bring your FH into play as well as your footspeed. Both are strengths of yours. Good luck!
The same thing happened with me in the finals of some tournament. I was so frustrated that I was playing so bad and just was hitting the ball. Something clicked though and I came back to win the set 7-6 but I lost the match in a tiebreaker 10-8
Felix, great job on the match, and you stayed competitive. Tip from experience: try to work on your mental resilience and letting the last point go. Keep the focus on the next point, and not how you "should've had it" on the last point. Keep up the good work brother.
Too bad Felix! Next time better. One tip for your backhand, in your backswing bend your arms more that you can swing more inside out. Now you swing outside inside and that‘s not ideal. Maybe an other option is to play your backhand single handed, I think you are the player for that. Good luck in your next game!
Good end of the set! Work on reducing the errors still, sometimes you go for too much, the other guy was just going left-right keeping ball in really...so be more patient and yes as you said, last 4 games you played better ! Good luck for next one!! You need to play more matches and get confidence thats all! Also on Forehand, keep more distance, sometimes you are too close to the ball so ending up hitting the net etc...good luck!
It'd be cool to see you go through your weaker service games point by point in a video, and identify where you made bad decisions and where it was just a problem of execution. Or get someone else to do that for you to upload. Great comeback effort at the end. Shows what you're capable of for sure.
Trust that forehand! You could see that you were falling back on your forehand earlier in the match and then driving through later in the match when you loosened up. You got what it takes tho!
Good match I think the difference between 6-2 5-0 and the last 5 games was the placement and court position sometimes I feel like there isn’t enough taking the ball on the rise attacking the return really trying to steal time and that causes you to end up in king rallies rather than moving forward so I think to really reach a higher level if you took the ball earlier played a little flatter it might help you produce more short balls and winners by seizing the moment and being on the front foot because I think you have all the other tools to be great
Love the dedication and the quality uploads! Amazing work Felix ❤
Glad you enjoy it!

How do you ref the game when there is no umpire? Does some people not “cheat” and how do you score the ball when it’s close to the lines? And do you then communicate often with the opponent and talk about what the score is? So nice to see you journey, keep it going Felix💪🏽
I am curious as well
Great work mate! Love following the journey 🦾
cheers cam :)
Ha, I’m a bit like you, got a 6 racquet bag and keep all my random stuff in there along with 2 racquets 😁
All Love your way man❤ - keep up the hard work
Loved the video as always. Well played
Who guessed felix lost before watching. I did.
Keep up the good work! Every opportunity is a good opportunity.
I was gonna say "you got destroyed" when it was at 5-0 but damn u fought hard. Great work man
Amazing playing
Really love seing this videos. It looks like in this kind of matchup you would really beneficiat of a more net game, in my opinion thats on of your best weapons. Keep grinding
keep up the good work, love your mentality !
Good luck!
Lovely slam dunk at @7:23 !!
always excited to see you post lets go bruh edit: cant remember if i asked but you coming to the states for any futures?
The same thing happened with me in the finals of some tournament. I was so frustrated that I was playing so bad and just was hitting the ball. Something clicked though and I came back to win the set 7-6 but I lost the match in a tiebreaker 10-8
You were playing on instinct at 0-5 down. No expectations at that point.
Aye bag check! That’s a huge bag haha, how heavy is it with all your stuff?
Also, how often do you switch rackets during a match?
Nice job Felix! There will be some hiccups, but you WILL get your first ATP point!
Felix, great job on the match, and you stayed competitive.
Tip from experience: try to work on your mental resilience and letting the last point go. Keep the focus on the next point, and not how you "should've had it" on the last point.
Keep up the good work brother.
I have seen your official results the 2 next matches are fire
damn Felix! U got this, ur sooo gooood
Well done felix keep up the good work🎉
Too bad Felix! Next time better. One tip for your backhand, in your backswing bend your arms more that you can swing more inside out. Now you swing outside inside and that‘s not ideal. Maybe an other option is to play your backhand single handed, I think you are the player for that. Good luck in your next game!
spoiled myself by looking up the tournament results after your last video lol. looking forward to your next match video
The improvements are there to see
More match play. Really enjoy 👍👍
Keep up good work maan
.. Fan from 🇸🇰
the guy you played kicked your ASS
Love the content! What do you use to edit your videos?
Good match I think the difference between 6-2 5-0 and the last 5 games was the placement and court position sometimes I feel like there isn’t enough taking the ball on the rise attacking the return really trying to steal time and that causes you to end up in king rallies rather than moving forward so I think to really reach a higher level if you took the ball earlier played a little flatter it might help you produce more short balls and winners by seizing the moment and being on the front foot because I think you have all the other tools to be great
Good job Felix, but you seemed a little bit scared because of him (his rank), but you played very great, just keep moving, lets rise!!!
Get it, Felix!!
lets go karue
Well done Felix!!
Nice comeback
the first point was magnificent.
Good luck champ !
Man he serve was really smthg like whoa
