Seniors will have to play 10 tests between sept 19 till jan 7, which is far more important than the series against SL. Better to rest them. Gambhir will have the opportunity to try out the fringe players who will be part of the team along with the seniors for the champions trophy.
If Bumrah play these meaningless bilateral series, its all over for India going forward. GG is going to break this team.

@@JayantaBera-yt8ls he has the logic and plan. He wanted to build a team who he feels is best bet to win a ICC tournament. You cannot play others and come ICC tournament play with your main players. His logic is also that next test series is not for a while and so players will get rest after that and they are getting rest before that as well.

He has to be 100% fit and available for the Australia series. If Bumrah play all 3 formats regularly, he will be finished in 2 years.

@@Beast_untamed Was Bumrah in rhythm before WC? How many T20s he played before the WC and how was his performance during the WC? Don't count IPL. Please check the stats. Here I am only talking about Bumrah and not Rohit and Kohli. I fully understand what Gautam is doing, but Bumrah is a national treasure and needs to be handled differently.
Gambhir has enough bench strength and should leave out senior players for them to announce their availability, i'm sure all these senior guys eyeing to catch flight to Australia for Border gavaskar trophy, they dont have much enthu to play with lower ranked team at moment and opportunity to validate bench with better team than Zimbabwe, It seems like Gambhir does not want to open his coaching tenure with series loss, in case SL A Team got better of India-B Team

He is just asking them to be available. its not as if any of the 3 mentioned wont be selected if available. if Gambhir asks for say Venketesh Iyer in that series then its a question.

It’s a time to try out other players but Gambir don’t have patience for the team building at this time. He wants a good prospect from the start to look good and not to try to experiment from the start. He wants the four players and Hardik to be available for the ODI.
Bumrah ka back injury phir se ho jayega. Bro his action is open chested. We need to protect him. He will play 10 tests in upcoming 8 months. WTC final, ipl, CT and then 5 match test series in england. Bumrah don't need to play any series. He can do wonder if not play a single series like t20 wc. It's 2024. Not 2010. Test cricket should be first priority and it has WTC points. Gauti is arrogance on pacers workload managment. Pacers are gold. Batters like gauti has no sense of fast bowler workload. They are not labour. Bumrah is 30. If he injured it will take 2years.
